    "Why you ask…well because I think it''s best for both of us?"


    I couldn''t quite discern why La had such an expression even though she must have no feelings attached to me, given how my previous self used to act around her.


    In order to hide his true emotions, my older self constantly said some rude things and always ended up insulting La for one thing or another.


    But then why was she making such a face?


    Maybe because it''s her first time getting rejected or has she grown some feelings , unlike the plot I read? Just like the maids in the mansion.


    But I leaned on the first option since I didn''t want to take this rtionship any further. Her having any kind of affection for me is quite highly unlikely anyways.


    And even plot has shifted before my transmigration, it''s best La stick around the Hero so I can avoid unnecessary attention in the future.


    "B-But you never took my consent… "


    Now my heart which had rxed for a bit started throbbing again, this time a little more painfully. Her tame and defenseless expression must be the trigger.


    For a second, I thought to confess the love Seth carried for her. The affection he always had for this girl and telling her how much obsession worthy she is.


    Maybe this could be my parting gift to the previous holder of this body. Something which the original Seth wasn''t ever able to do?


    But I held that urge.


    Confession would lead to unnecessary drama of her reluctance from this annulment. She would be conflicted about this rtionship and might try ways to find some reasons for not breaking the engagement.


    I may be overthinking things but that''s how development starts.


    And I am not looking forward to any heavy rtionship at the moment. Well, of course, there''s one exception to whom I won''t be applying this ideology.


    But for now, I better wrap this up.


    "Listen, La. We don''t share any kind of emotions and I don''t think you would be happy to marry such a man who never considers your feelings, right?"


    Her gaze fell and face visibly darkened but I guess it must be the surprise of events that is not letting her think about what she has gained from this annulment.


    "Then if you''ll excuse me."


    I didn''t wait much before I took my leave. I have a lot of things to do at the moment to not get suspicious and live my way out of the plot.


    I don''t have a single idea what La has been thinking but I assume that her death g has been set offpletely.


    She can now pursue her love for Arata and won''t weigh down with the displeasure of being attached to me.


    And at this point, it is highly unlikely I would cross paths with La much…

    "Hmm?"


    As Seth walked away after dropping an entirely unexpected news, La fell into a stupor for a long minute.


    It was then her maid stepped forward and called for herdy in concern, which brought La back to reality.


    Dazedly she gawked at the ce where Seth departed while circling her finger around the edge of her teacup.


    There were various things surfacing in her mind and making her chaotic which led her to make a decision.


    After a long thought, La utter under her breath that her maid was only able toprehend.


    "Can you keep an eye on him, Caroline?"


    The listener''s eyes widened upon hearing such a request from La since before today, La never asked anything like this from her especially rted to that man.


    "M-Mydy…?"


    La heard the stutter and she could understand the reason for such a response. Turning her soft gaze toward her only trustable maid.


    "This request is purely to lessen my guilt, Caroline. Please help me with this one."


    Caroline understood what herdy''s unspoken intentions were. She suspects that there''s something or someone for whom Seth has broken this engagement and herdy wants to know the reason so she doesn''t me herself for all this.


    Knowing herdy''s personality, she must be thinking that it''s her fault that Seth took this decision that''s why…


    "I understand, mydy. I will report to you before you leave for the vacation."
