Chapter 310
Brett slept for a solid 24 hours before he woke up, wincing as he opened his throbbing eyes to see
the IV drip hanging above his head, the liquid slowly flowing through the tube.
He looked at the needle stuck in the back of his left hand, and without a second thought, he pulled it
out with his right hand.
"What the hell are you doing, President Windham? Your drip isn''t finished!" Liam burst into the room
just in time to see Brett''s self-destructive act and rushed over to stop him.
Having slept the entire day, Brett felt weak and couldn''t fight off Liam, so he stopped struggling.
Liam rang for the nurse, preparing to reinsert the IV needle into Brett.
Brett was seriously ill, not having rested properly for several days and frequently spending time in
cold rooms, which resulted in various health problems. He was bleeding from his stomach, running
a fever of 40 degrees Celsius. If it got any higher, he''d be cooked into an idiot.
"Where''s Kaley?" Brett croaked out.
Liam was taken aback, having thought that Brett would continue to ask about Izabe upon waking
up. "She''s still in the basement," he replied.
"She''s scared of dogs, you know what to do." Brett closed his eyes, paused, then added, "Keep her
alive, but make her wish she was dead."
Kaley wasn''t shy about wanting to marry him, right? She deceived people and hurt innocents for
him. So, whatever he did, she was willing to bear it, right?
"I''ll arrange it right away, but President Windham, you need to recover before you can be
discharged."
Brett didn''t respond, and Liam watched as the nurse reinserted the IV needle. He knew Brett had
taken his words to heart.
...
Brett stayed in the hospital for three days. When he was well enough, he had Liam pick him up.
During this time, he never once mentioned "Izabe", as if he hadpletely forgotten her. But only
the nurses who cared for him knew the truth. Every night, Brett struggled to sleep, tossing and
turning restlessly. asionally, he would mutter "Izabe" in his sleep.
Could he easily forget someone he called out for in his dreams?
Brett went straight to where Kaley was being held after being discharged from the hospital. Before
he even got close, he could hear the barking of dogs and the piercing screams of a woman.
It was creepy hearing it in the eerie cold wind.
It was snowing in J City again today, but it was much lighterpared to Christmas day. Big
snowkes fluttering in the wind while Liam stood beside Brett, holding an umbre to shield him
from the snow.
As they approached, the door guard opened the door and a rotten smell hit them.
Liam scrunched his nose, suppressing the urge to vomit. He sneaked a nce at Brett, who
showed no reaction.
The guard led them in, and flicked on the light switch. The pitch-dark basement was instantly
illuminated.
Brett nced over with indifferent eyes and saw arge iron cage divided into two sections by a
railing. Kaley was trapped in a corner, as deted as a balloon, lying listlessly in the cage.
Her body was covered in blood, her hair matted together with dried blood. But the most terrifying
sight was her legs.
The guard, who had grown ustomed to the sight, pulled out a remote control and pressed a
button. The railing in the middle of the cage slid open.
A ck pitbull, mouth wide open revealing its blood-red gums, lunged at Kaley. Kaley, trembling all
over, tried to squeeze herself into the bars of the cage in fear.
Her body had been injected with a drug that stimted her nerves, causing her to be terrified but
unable to pass out.
This is the property of N?-velDrama.Org.
"Good boy, sit." The dog trainer gave amand, and the pitbull obediently sat down, panting
heavily.
Brett put on a glove and bent down to look at Kaley''s hair. Not only were her legs useless, but her
face was also ruined. Brett took one look at her and felt as if his eyes were attacked. He released
his grip and threw the glove onto the ground.
At that moment, Kaley regained some consciousness. Dazed eyes regained some of their brilliance
at the sight of Brett, which was still mixed with hatred. She quickly lowered her head, trembling as
she said, "Brett, I know I was wrong. Please let me go. It hurts so much..."
She couldn''t understand how everything changed overnight. It felt like just yesterday when she was
carefully preparing for their engagement party, standing on the bright stage with Brett, making their
vows to all the guests.
Just when she was about to seed, she was suddenly hit hard. She was cast into hell, unable to
escape.
All her ugly deeds were exposed on the big screen, and Brett found out that she wasn''t the one who
saved him years ago.
Then came the news of Izabe''s death. It was good news. The woman who had been in her way
was finally gone.
She knew Brett was a vengeful man and was preparing to take the money Brett had given her and
secretly contact Nn to leave the country. But on the way to the airport, she was kidnapped and
then tortured endlessly. She was living a life worse than death.
In the beginning, she was still able to struggle. But in the end, she didn''t even have the strength to
move.
These long three days were all because of the man in front of her, the man she once longed to
marry, the man she had loved deeply.
She had done many bad things, but because of Brett''s "tolerance", she was always reckless. In her
heart, she thought that even if he found out she had teamed up with others to hurt Izabe, he
wouldn''t do anything to her. After all, Brett had been good to her for seven years.
But she didn''t expect Brett to be so cruel to her. Kaley had forgotten that those seven years were all
a lie.
As Kaley reached out to touch him, Brett kicked her away.
Kaley started weeping uncontrobly, her mouth gasping for air as blood trickled out of the corner of
her mouth, smearing her already dirty face even dirtier.
The more Brett had "cherished" her, the more he hated her now.
Kaley copsed on the ground, her eyes askew. This version of Brett seemed like a demon from
hell,ing to im her life.
She knew that no matter what she said, he wouldn''t let her off the hook. During these past few
days, she felt like she had tasted a lifetime of bitterness. If he wasn''t going to cut her some ck,
then she wouldn''t make it easy for him either.
Choking back tears, she gasped, "Brett, why are you always picking fights with women? You''re such
a coward! I admit I''ve done you wrong, but have you ever thought about why I did it? You promised
to marry me, yet you''ve been messing around with Izabe. You promised to divorce her, but seven
years have passed... seven years... how many seven years does a woman have? You broke your
own promise. I was just fighting for what''s mine. Did I do anything wrong?"
Thinking about these things, Kaley felt more sadness than anger.
The ones who caused this mess were them. The one to me was Brett. He owed her, so she
should at least get something back. She didn''t feel guilty at all.
The one who was wrong was Brett with his greed and arrogance. The one who was wrong was
Izabe, trying to im something that wasn''t hers.
Izabe was right. Brett was a total jerk, and only she treated this mess like it was a treasure.
"You''re torturing me because of Izabe''s death, but don''t forget who messed up the Salotti family,
causing her to lose her loved ones and be betrayed by those she trusted."
A sarcastic smile appeared on Kaley''s face, "I admit I did some dirty things behind your back, but
have you ever thought about, if you truly love Izabe, why didn''t you trust her? You deprived her of
the right to be a mother. You forced her to sign a blood drawing agreement and let her kneel outside
the courtroom, humiliated. When she wanted to divorce you, you locked her up at home."
The more Kaley talked, the more she felt she did nothing wrong. It took two to tango. Why should
she be the one to suffer?
"You might as well kill yourself if you want to kill me!" Kaley dered defiantly. The basement fell
silent.
Brett''s dark eyes suddenly closed. His lips were tightly pursed, and his face turned icy. These words
had been echoing in his ears since Izabe''s death, reminding him of his sins.
What Kaley said was notparable to what Nathaniel and Presley said. Brett thought he had
gotten used to the pain, but when Kaley spoke, his eyes still stung.
When he opened his eyes again, they were as dead as before. He gave orders to his men, "Her
hand is in the way. Since she doesn''t know how to speak, there''s no need to keep her hand..."
This demon. Cold sweat broke out on Kaley''s body again. Her pupils contracted a bit, her vision
blurred as if a bug had flown into her eyes.
Brett added, "Don''t let her die."
This was the real living hell.
Kaley''s legs could no longer bear her weight. She reached out towards Brett, pleading for mercy like
a dying rat.
"Brett, if you get too much blood on your hands, you''ll go to hell when you die. You won''t be able to
see Izabe, even in the next life." Kaley''s voice was trembling. She never thought she would have
to rely on a dead person for help.
Brett paused as if recalling something. He murmured hoarsely, "No, I''ll see her when I die. Because
she said she''d be waiting for me in hell..."
