Chapter 242
Brett''s hand suddenly stopped applying the medicine, feeling extremely ashamed, "Yes, I''m not as
good to you as you''ve imagined, even not good at all. But you did really like me back then, and now
I love you as well, and want to take care of you for the rest of my life."
Izabe had no memory of her past, staying in the lie that Liam and Brett created, thinking that she
and Brett were truly in love. She couldn''t wait to remember the past, just so she could love Brett
better now and live her life happily by his side.
But now Brett was telling her that their past wasn''t good at all.
Izabe didn''t see the point in recovering her memory anymore.
"Do you want to know about the past?" Brett asked cautiously.
Izabe hesitated for a moment but eventually shook her head, "Let bygones be bygones."
Brett breathed a sigh of relief in secret. If Izabe insisted on digging into the past, he really didn''t
know what to say.
"But Brett, just because I lost my memory, it doesn''t mean I''m clueless. I can''t stand any violence so
if you treat me like this again, it will be the end between us. I''d rather die than live a humiliating life
by your side."
Brett''s heart skipped a beat, and he subconsciously opened his mouth, but before he could say
anything, Izabe cut him off.
Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDra/ma.O(r)g!
"Don''t promise me anything, just knowing where we stand is enough."
"Alright."
Izabe went to the bathroom to wash her hands, staring at her reflection while doing so, her eyes
full of unease that she couldn''t hide. She was saying those words not only for Brett but also for
herself.
She could forget the past and not dwell on it, but she couldn''t easily forgive Brett for everything just
because he said "I''m sorry". After all, she''s not a fool who can forgive it all.
After Izabe finished washing her hands and came out, Brett had already tidied up the first-aid kit
and put on his pajamas. He stood quietly by the bed like a wooden figure.
Izabe felt a bit cold and got into bed, covering herself with the nket, "There is one more thing."
"What is it?"
Izabe looked into Brett''s dim eyes, "Do you not like children?"
Brett replied, "I like them." How could he not like them? He had been dreaming of having a child
with Izabe.
But Izabe couldn''t get pregnant for the rest of her life due to her cancer.
"So why did you want me to take birth control pills this afternoon?"
Brett looked down, "Those weren''t birth control pills."
"What were they then?"
Brett couldn''t tell the truth. Even though Izabe said they were starting over without dwelling on the
past, could she really not be bothered by it if she remembered what happened before?
He knew how much she hated him, and if she truly remembered the past, she would probably stay
far away from him.
So Brett didn''t dare gamble and continued making up lies, "Those were the pills you take every
night. Didn''t you notice?"
Izabe finally realized that they were both small white pills, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"I thought you didn''t want me to have your baby." Izabe said, still looking forward to it. She really
liked kids, and with their good looks, their baby would definitely be adorable. Izabe had already
come up with a name for the baby.
"I''m thinking we should have a boy and a girl. I thought of baby names already. The boy will be
called Bet, and the girl will be called Maggie. Aren''t those lovely names?"
Izabe looked up slightly, the soft light illuminating her face, making her look like a beautiful
painting.
Brett''s mouth corners showed a bit of bitterness, "Be, we won''t have our own kids in the future."
Izabe, taken aback, asked, "Why?"
"It''s my fault," Brett said, his eyes filled with sorrow as if there was something unspeakable, "I''m
infertile."
Izabe''s pupils shrank slightly, feeling a huge disappointment. It was like finding a candle in the
dark, lighting it, and it being extinguished the moment the light appeared.
All the wonderful things she imagined were gone.
"It''s fine," Izabe said hoarsely, forcing a smile, "I''m not prepared to be a mom either. If we can''t
have kids, we can adopt. I came from an orphanage myself. We''ll just adopt a pair of well-behaved
kids, and use the names I thought of earlier. What do you think?"
Izabe tilted her head and looked at him, like a lovable cat. Brett reached out and rubbed her hair.
"How about getting a cat to keep youpany at home for now?"
"Really?" Izabe brightened up immediately, her clear eyes making her look pure and innocent.
Brett could already imagine her holding a cat in a heartwarming scene.
"Of course, as long as you like it."
Izabe had always liked fluffy pets and wanted one badly, but never had the chance. Plus, she
guessed he might not like pets, so she never brought it up.
"But cats shed, are you sure you don''t mind?"
Brett choked, "I don''t mind, someone will take care of the cat hair."
"Okay then."
Brett secretly nned to have someone bring a cat from the pet store the next day. Meanwhile,
Izabe was already under the covers, feeling sleepy.
She checked the time, and it was almost 2 am.
She muttered hoarsely, "Let''s name the cat Niki."
Brett looked at her tired face and felt sorry for her. He wanted to get into bed and hold her, but he
didn''t dare, since Izabe hadn''t asked him toe to bed yet.
Izabe noticed the light still on and no movement in the room. For a moment, she wasn''t sure what
Brett was doing and saw him still standing by the bed with her eyes half-closed. Shezily asked,
"Why aren''t you sleeping yet?"
"You didn''t tell me toe to bed."
Izabe almostughed out loud. She originally wanted him to sleep on the couch, but the couch
was small and hard, and considering Brett''s injuries, she couldn''t bring herself to let him sleep
there.
She lifted the corner of the nket, "Come on up and sleep."
Brett''s face lit up, and he jumped into bed like a happy big dog, covering himself with the nket
and boldly pulling Izabe into his embrace.
