Chapter 229
"We''re not that close for me to tell you everything, right?" Izabe was very cautious at this point.
Nathaniel chuckled. Izabe had amnesia and probably didn''t even know what kind of illness she
had.
He looked her straight in the eyes without any reservation, "I just wanted to show some concern, I''m
afraid you don''t even know what kind of illness you have."
Izabe frowned, not understanding his words. Wasn''t she familiar with her own body?
Izabe felt doubtful about his words. Just as she was about to speak, her phone rang. Checking
the screen, it was a call from Brett.
There were only five numbers in her new phone – Brett, Liam, Adrian, Tiara, and Katie.
Brett was the one she contacted most frequently. Answering the call, she softly said, "Brett."

"Did you take your medicine?"
Hearing Brett''s voice made the gloomy feeling in Izabe''s heart dissipate instantly. Her mood
improved, her frowning eyebrows rxed, and the corners of her mouth rose slightly.
"Yes, I just took them."
"Then I''ll reward you tonight."
Upon hearing the word "reward," Izabe''s face turned slightly red, thinking in her heart that Brett
was a rogue.
"It''s raining outside. Did you bring an umbre? I''ll have my driver pick you up."
"Don’t worry, this rain won''tst long. I''ll take a cab home. Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet, I just finished looking through contracts that needed signing."
It was already one o''clock, and Brett hadn''t eaten yet. Izabe, who had suffered from stomach
pains, didn''t want Brett to have stomach problems like her.
"The steak at the restaurant I ate at today was pretty good, and the ce was nice too. Let''se
here together next time."
Sitting across from her, Nathaniel''s expression darkened upon hearing her words, and his light
brown eyes gradually turned cold.
Brett said something on the phone, and Izabe''s smile spread sweetly across her face, urging him
to eat soon.
"Were you alone at the movies today and then eating alone at a Western restaurant?"
Izabe replied, "Yes."
As dessert was served, Nathaniel stared at Izabe as she talked on the phone, his eyes growing
colder and a malicious idea emerging within him.
"Be, dessert is here – let''s eat."
Izabe suddenly stiffened. She was replying to Brett when Nathaniel unexpectedly interrupted, and
she could feel Brett''s anger through the phone.
"Who exactly are you with?"
Izabe quickly exined, "Just a stranger I met today. I don''t know him well."
Brett took a deep breath, "Alright, I got it."
Izabe wanted to say more, but Brett had already hung up. He must''ve been really angry.
Izabe gazed nkly at her phone, feeling somewhat at a loss.
"Is your husband?" Nathaniel looked at her with a smirking expression, full of insinuation.
Izabe was now sure that Nathaniel had interrupted her call on purpose!
"Your husband wouldn''t get angry over such a trivial matter if he really loves you," Nathaniel pushed
the dessert toward Izabe.
"Someone who loves you will respect and trust you. In your life, you''ll meet various people and form
friendships. Between you and him, isn''t there even this level of trust?"
Izabe''s face darkened. Nathaniel''s words were clearly meant to sow discord, but his arguments
were clever and made sense.
With her memory loss, Izabe craved forming new rtionships.
Combined with the powerful movie she saw this morning, she didn''t want to be like the woman
in the film who lost everything and had nothing but love.
She believed in Brett, and Brett should trust her too. Mutual respect was required in a marriage.
"We watched a movie together today and ate lunch here. It''s not an overstatement to call each other
friends. As a friend, I just wanted to remind you that you deserve a gentle and loving partner."
