Chapter 144
As Izabe walked out of thepany, the refreshing evening breeze blew away the chaos in her
head, but her stomach started to feel ufortable.. She needed to find a ce to sit down quickly.
Izabe saw Brett''s car, and she hurried over to it.
Brett snuffed out his cigarette, opened the car door, and got into the driver''s seat. After seeing
Izabe buckle her seatbelt, he tossed a bag to her from the backseat.
Izabe held the bag and asked, "What is this?"
"Open it and see."
Upon opening the bag, Izabe found a cup of milkshake packed securely. Even though Brett had
thrown it roughly, it didn''t spill.
"I heard from Liam that you didn''t eat much at lunch," Brett paused before continuing, "I know your
stomach isn''t in the best condition, and there''s a new healthy fruit and vegetable milkshake ce
nearby. I''ve tried their stuff, and it''s not bad. This is their popr avocado milkshake."
Not wanting to make a fuss, Izabe sipped the milkshake. She had worked the entire day and was
worried about her stomach acting up. In the morning, she had vomited blood once, and she didn''t
want to do so again in front of Brett.
Izabe inserted the straw, the temperature just right.
As Brett nced at her, he started the car and drove off.

Once on a smooth road, he asked, "You want The Felton Group to participate in the Starry Brilliance
Ind project?"
Izabe let out a neutral hum in response.
Brett had two spections. One - Izabe knew about his n against the Felton family. Two - from
the beginning, she wanted to take over the project not because she was free, but to pave the way
for the Felton family.
So, was she doing this for the Felton family or for Presley alone?
Neither answer would satisfy him. Brett hoped Izabe would focus on him instead of an
insignificantpany.
As for the second possibility, the thought of her going to such lengths for Presley made Brett feel an
overwhelming wave of jealous rising in his chest.
Izabe was unfazed by Brett''s dark gaze, drinking a few sips of her milkshake. Her stomach had
started to feel better. She now had the energy to confront Brett.
She told him, "At dinner the day before yesterday, Lucas told me about your n against the Felton
family."
It turned out just as he thought. Brett unconsciously furrowed his brows.
Izabe sipped half of her milkshake, put the bag away, and gazed out of the car window. With her
ponytail now fallen, she appeared soft in the dim light. Her closed lips and half-lowered eyes
reminded Brett of her appearance at the hospital and the words Liam had told him.
Women were made of water and should be treated gently.
People say that women are easy to coax. However, Izabe didn''t seem like water to Brett. Instead,
she seemed fiery,pletely disregarding other people''s feelings and causing them immense pain.
"What if I don''t agree to the Felton Group''s involvement?"
Izabe looked at him, forced a smile, and spoke gently, "My mother died early, and apart from my
grandfather, both my father and brother in the Salotti family saw me as a thorn in their eyes. They
wished for me to die early. During my unhappy childhood, the Felton family was my safe haven, and
they treated me like family ."
"Brett, the reason you targeted the Felton Group is clear to both of us. Since I know that now, I have
to ''make up'' for this. One should never forget their roots and be grateful."
Without the Felton Group, Izabe wouldn''t have joined the Windham Group. To please Brett, she
had been carefully choosing her words, worried that an idental slip-up would upset him and
disrupt her n.
After saying that, Izabe pulled a document from her bag and said, "I admit that I took on this
project out of personal feelings, but I won''t let my emotions affect my work. This is a list of potential
companies we''ve considered, with their pros and cons already marked down."
