Chapter 139
Brett spent the whole night tossing and turning, he got up as soon as the sky lightened. The first
thing he did wasn''t washing his face or getting dressed, but lighting a cigarette while standing on the
balcony.
The ashtray on the table was already piled high with ash and cigarette butts. When he ran into
Jennifer downstairs, he suddenly stopped her and asked, "Do you think I''m good to Izabe?"
Jennifer hesitated for a moment. In her eyes, he was good to Izabe, but after hearing what
Izabe said, she wasn''t so sure anymore.
Seeing Brett''s bloodshot eyes, Jennifer''s heart pounded. She put on a bright smile and said, "You''re
exceptionally good to your wife!"
Brett asked thoughtfully, "How can you tell?"
Jennifer couldn''t quite put her finger on it, but she felt that the man in front of her did like Izabe.
Fortunately, she had seen thetest news yesterday.
"Didn''t you spend a fortune bidding for an ind yesterday to build a theme park for her? 5.2 billion
dors! And she obviously loves theme parks," Jennifer racked her brains and gave numerous
examples.
Jennifer indeed spoke from the heart. When she saw the news, she was so envious that it nearly
killed her. If a rich and handsome man spent that much money to build a theme park for her, she''d
be on cloud nine.
Thus, Brett was genuinely good to Izabe, at least not like some men who only talked the talk but
didn''t walk the walk.
Brett foundfort in Jennifer''s words, and his gloomy expression eased.
When he went to the office and bumped into Liam, he asked the same question.
"Do you think I''m good to Izabe?"
This question left Liam dumbfounded. He struggled to think of positive examples, but all he could
see were images of Izabe''s pale and weak face. To be honest, he couldn''t see how Brett was
good to Izabe. But should he be frank about it?
Liam carefully nced at Brett. His expression was as imprable as his thoughts.
Brett didn''t get an answer and grew impatient. "What? Is it that difficult to answer my question?"
Liam quickly shook his head and, for the sake of not getting fired, he reluctantly lied: "You''re really
nice to Ms. Salotti."
Brett sat in his office chair, leaning back against the soft backrest. He was wearing a shirt with the
sleeves rolled up, revealing his muscr arms.
He opened a drawer, took out a pack of cigarettes, lit one, and asked casually, "Name some
examples of how I''m nice to her."

Liam was more quick-witted than Jennifer, and he blurted out some nonsense without thinking. "You
helped Ms. Salotti''s father with his funeral, and your speech in front of the reporters yesterday was
so touching that even I, as a man, was moved. Plus, you trust her so much, and you''re giving her
the responsibility of handling the Starry Brilliance Ind project."
With the cigarette between his fingers, Brett tapped his hand on the armrest of the chair. The ashes,
along with the dying sparks, fell to the floor. He muttered to himself, "So why is she still so cold to
me? Does she hate me?"
Liam was at a loss for words, scratching his head and struggling to find somethingforting to
say.
Finally, after a while, he came up with a reassuring response: "President Windham, women are like
water. You have to go with the flow and pamper them. Don''t force your thoughts onto them. Once
they get used to some habits, and they can''t live without you, they''ll appreciate your goodness."
Brett raised an eyebrow and nced at him. "You''re quite knowledgeable about rtionships. Have
you ever been in one?"
Liam felt a bit embarrassed. "Well, you know, I haven''t had the chance."
"Armchair strategist," Brett sneered. "Get the materials for Starry Brilliance Ind ready for Izabe.
When shees to the officeter, you''ll apany her."
"Am I going to be her assistant from now on?"
"Is there a problem?"
"No, no problem at all," Liam quickly shook his head. Not only did he have no objections, but he
was actually quite satisfied. Izabe seemed much easier to get along with than Brett.
"Help her and make sure she doesn''t get tired."
"Absolutely," Liam shed an ingratiating smile. "You''re truly considerate towards Ms. Salotti."
Brett snuffed out his cigarette.
