Chapter 728 Yanis, don''t be afraid, I''m here!
The phone rang and Zane answered immediately, "What''s the update?"
Lane''s voice came through the phone, "We''re waiting for the forensic results. The cause of his death
may not be because of your actions. Don''t worry for now. However, you were the first to act, so it might
be a bit tricky."
Zane listened to Lane and his eyes darkened slightly, "Then please figure out how to bail Ivan and
Robin out first. I''ll take responsibility for everything else."
Lane replied, "There is a way out of this situation. Ahmed has a criminal record and he was the one
who crossed the line this time. If Fukuma can testify, along with Ms. Thompson..."
"I don''t want Yanis involved in this," Zane interrupted before Lane could finish.
After hearing Zane''s words, Lane paused for a few seconds before responding, "Okay then. I''ll bail Ivan
and Robin out first while we wait for the forensic results."
Zane nodded in agreement and said thank you before hanging up.
He stood in the hallway outside Yanis'' hospital room for a moment topose himself before entering.
Yanis seemed restless as she slept with furrowed brows like he was having nightmares.
Zane sat down next to him on his bed and gently smoothed his brow with his hand while soothingly
saying,"Yanis, don''t be afraid. I''m here."
Over and over again he repeated these words until Yanis'' furrowed brows rxed enough that Zane
leaned forward between them to kiss her softly on her forehead.
Zane had been sitting by Yanis'' side silently, watching over her when she was asleep. When Yanis
opened her eyes, all that greeted her was Zane''s tired face.
Instinctively wanting to touch Zane''s face, but as soon as she lifted up an arm, there was pain shooting
from around her waist, causing her to gasp involuntarily.
Beforehand it wasn''t noticeable, but now after waking up from sleep, it hurt too much.
Sensing something wrong, Zane quickly stood up upon hearing Yanis'' sharp intake of breath, asking,
"Are you okay? Should I call a doctor?"
Yanis grabbed onto Zane''s hand weakly, whispering, "It''s fine, just my body is sore from sleeping
awkwardly."
Worried about Yani, Zane asked,"Do you want me to massage your back?"
Yanis shook her head. "What time is it now?"
Zane raised his hand to check the time. "It''s early morning. What''s up? Are you hungry?"
When Bonnie left earlier, she told Zane that Yanis didn''t eat much at night.
"No, I''m not hungry." Yanis gritted her teeth against the pain and shifted her body to one side. "Zane,

Yanis was insistent. "But I want you to be with me. I had a nightmare just now."
Under Yanis'' stubborn insistence, Zane eventuallyy down next to her on the hospital bed.
The bed was small and ufortable for Zane who stood at almost six feet tall, so hey on the edge
of it.
Yanis tried to move over as much as possible so that Zane could have more space.
Even so, they were still very close together and Zane''s hand rested on Yanis'' waist gently massaging
where she was injured.
Perhaps because his hands were too warm or because of his gentle touch, it eased some of the
soreness in Yanis'' body.
"Zane, are you sleepy?" Yanis asked softly.
Upon hearing her question, Zane subconsciously pulled her towards him and continued massaging
without stopping, "No, I''m not sleepy. You can sleep some more. Wait until morning when the doctor
"Mm-hmm," replied Yanis as she closed her eyes even though she wasn''t really tired. She did this just
to make sure that Zane wasfortable sleeping beside her.
As he continued rubbing gently, Yanis could feel his movements slowing down beforeing toa stop
altogether.
Only after making sure that Zane slept soundly, did Yanis get up slowly from the bed.
She nearly cried out in pain when she moved.
After holding on to one position for a while, she gradually moved towards the bathroom once she was
able to adapt again.
Once out of the bathroom, Yanis made herselffortable on the nearbypanion bed and watched
as Zaney asleep next to her.
Unknowingly, Yanis must have fallen asleep again, because when she woke up, it was already the
second day.
After Yanis opened her eyes, she instinctively looked to the side of the bed, but Zane was nowhere to
be seen.
Yanis furrowed her brow and was about to sit up when Bonnie and Ste walked into the hospital room.
"Are you awake?" Bonnie approached Yanis and helped her up from the bed. "How do you feel now?
The doctor won''t be on duty for another twenty minutes, so I''ve already made an appointment for your
check-up after breakfast."
Ste put down a thermos in her hand. "Yanis, go wash up first. I''ll pour it out and let it cool down for
you to eat when youe out."
Yanis nodded at Ste before turning to look at Bonnie. "Where''s Zane?"
"Oh, Mr. Lawrence," Bonnie said while arranging Yanis'' shoes. "It seems like he had something
importante up at work that Albi couldn''t handle alone! Do you want me to give him a call and scold

Yanis stared at Bonnie suspiciously. "You... seem off."
Bonnie rolled her eyes. "What''s wrong? Are you not happy that the person who''s here with you isn''t
Zane but me instead? Are you not fond of me?"
Yanis choked back a response before saying quietly, "No, I''m going to wash up now."
Bonnie helped Yanis off of the bed as she continued speaking angrily about how much of a scumbag
Zane was for leaving Yanis alone in this condition just because he had work.
"I don''t have anything important going on right now," Yanis said softly in defense of Zane''s actions.
"You''re too understanding!" Bonnie eximed.
Although she didn''t respond directly to what Bonnie said next, Yanis still felt uneasy inside.
After finishing breakfastter that morning, Yanis sent Zane a message.
Zane sent back a quick reply: [I''m sorry, Yanis, something came up at work this morning before you
woke up. I couldn''t bring myself to wake you. I''lle over as soon as possible after I finish my work.
