Chapter 686: Mr. Lawrence is now listening to you the most.

Upon hearing Nancy''s words, Yanis replied, "Bonnie hasn''t been in the storetely due to some

personal matters. I''ll let her know and maybe you cane back another day for a fitting?"

Nancy thought for a moment and said, "If Boss Cooke is there tomorrow, I''lle by in the morning

    after my prenatal check-up."

Yanis nodded and said, "Sounds good. I''ll have Bonniee in tomorrow too."

    "Okay," Nancy agreed.

After their conversation ended, Nancy turned to Aunt Rivers and suggested softly, "Auntie Rivers, didn''t

you say you wanted to see the wedding dress? Why don''t you go take a look now?"

"I will. Later on I''ll ask for your opinions," Aunt Rivers replied before leaving.

Once Aunt Rivers was out of earshot, Nancy looked at Yanis with hesitation.

"What''s wrong?" Yanis asked when he noticed that she kept trying to speak but couldn''t seem to find

    the right words.

Nancy spoke softly as she said: "I... went to see Neve a few days ago."

Yanis looked at her with confusion as he wasn''t sure why she suddenly brought up Neve.

"I''m not saying this because of anything else; what happened between us before may not have been

appropriate on my part. But our rtionship is still there - even though she doesn''t have her morous

appearance anymore and both of her parents are gone - she has nothing left," exined Nancy.

Yanis listened quietly without saying anything because he didn''t know what would be appropriate at this

time. So instead he remained silent while listening attentively as Nancy continued speaking:

"Yanis... I know deep down inside that you''re kind-hearted person. What Neve did before was really

    bad but could you please..."

"Nancy," Yanis interrupted gently. "From the beginning when it came to Neve all I ever felt was envy

towards how Zane treated her so well back then; how easily Zane gave his care and tenderness

towards her while others saw me as someone who schemed things behind closed doors."

"Now that she''s locked up it wasn''t something that I forced upon or calcted against her," added

Yanis hoping his exnation would help clear things up between them both.

"Do you understand where I''ming from?"Nancy nodded. "I know, it''s easy to say that Neve brought

this on herself, but Yanis, you don''t know that she could have gotten a shorter sentence if Zane hadn''t

spoken up. But in the end, she got seven years and six months."

After saying this, Nancy looked at Yanis. "Do you know why?"

Yanis looked back at Nancy and waited for her to continue speaking.

"It''s because of Zane," Nancy said. "He spoke up about Neve and that''s why she got sentenced for

    seven years and six months."

"Yanis, Neve is already 28 years old now," Nancy continued. "After seven years and six months in

prison, she''ll be almost 36 years old. She only has a few more years until she turns 40." She looked at

Yanis earnestly. "I was thinking maybe we could talk to Mr. Lawrence about not making her serve the

    full sentence?"

Yanis was silent for a moment after hearing what Nancy had said before asking her directly: "Are you

doing this because you want to help her or because Neve asked you to do it?"

Nancy hesitated when Yanis asked her question.

Seeing how hesitant Nancy was made it clear to Yanis that despite appearing strong-willed in the

entertainment industry; in real life situations like these; however, Nancy is actually someone whocks

    decision-making skills.

No matter what others say or suggest, she might just go along with them.

So most of what Nancy had been saying today probably came from things that Neve had told her.

    Neve wanted out of prison.

That''s why she would say things like this which would move someone like Nacy so much especially

during pregnancy when women tend to be naive sometimes

In fact, Yanishad wantedto askNancy directly whether leaving the entertainment industry really meant

    having no connection withNeve whatsoever?

Nancy remained silent for a while before nodding slowly."She cried all day long,"she exined."She

realized how impulsive some of the things were which ledher downthis path. She regrets everything

nowand wants nothing more than beinga better person. So, Yanish, couldyou please talkto Mr.

    Lawrence?"

Taking a deep breath, Yanissaid:"I''ll mention somethingtoZane, but I can''t guarantee anything."

    Grateful, Nancynodded repeatedly."Thankyou."

Shaking his head, Yanismuttered:"You shouldn''t thank me. It''s not my ce."

But Nancystill insisted on thanking him anyway."You still deserve thanks, because right now Mr.

Lawrence listens most closely toyour advice."

Hearing these words from Nacy made Yannis look up suddenlyand stareat herseriouslyNancy was

taken aback by Yanis'' gaze. "What''s wrong?" she asked.

Yanis had something to say, but he swallowed his words at thest moment. Just then, Aunt Rivers

came over and called out to them. "Nancy,e over and take a look at this set with Boss Thompson."

    Nancy replied, "Coming."

Then Nancy looked at Yanis and said, "Thank you."

Yanis shook his head and stood up. He reached out his hand in front of Nancy and said, "Let''s go."

Aunt Rivers had a good eye for style; the dress she picked suited her well and gave her an elegant

    look.

Aunt Rivers was always generous when it came to shopping; if she liked something, she would just buy

    it on the spot.

"Just these two sets please; wrap them up for me," Aunt Rivers said.

Linda took the dresses from her. "Sure thing; please wait a moment," Linda replied.

Yanis looked at Linda and whispered softly, "Put the hangers in too instead of folding everything

together so that they won''t get too wrinkledter on."

    Linda nodded in agreement.

After Aunt Rivers left with Nancy, Zane arrived shortly after to pick up Yanis. Since Zane wasing to

pick him up anyway they decided that Linda should ride with Stanley in another car instead of waiting

    around for them.

On their way to Shippou Restaurant, Yanis couldn''t stop thinking about what Nancy had told him earlier

    that day.

Zane called out twice before Yanis snapped back into reality.

    "What''s wrong?"

Zane gently held onto Yanis'' hand as he asked softly,"Are you thinking about work? Is there anything

    bothering you?"

Yanis shook his head after hearing Zane''s question,"No, it''s not work... it''s something else."

Zane squeezed Yanis'' hand lightly before asking again,"Tell me about it?"

After a few seconds of silence, Yaniss turned towards Zanesaid ,"Nancy came by our store this

    afternoon."

    "Hmm?"

"She told me that she went to see Neve a couple days ago."

Upon hearing what Yanissaid, Zaneslightly furrowedhis browand asked ,"Why did she tell you this?"

"Why did Neve get sentencedto seven yearsand six monthsin prison?"

Upon hearing what Yannisasked, Zanelooked even more concerned than before."What else did Nancy

    tell you?"

"She wanted me totalktoyouaboutnot letting Neve stay insidefor solong since all three membersofthe

family areinthere. It doesn''t seem right."There wasn''t any extra emotion present in Yannis'' tone whileThis content ? 2024 N?velDrama.Org.
