Chapter 622: Smell It
Chapter 622: Smell it
Vincent had only spoken half of what he wanted to say, leaving some room for Zane''s reaction.
However, Zane remained silent for a while, sitting on the side as if hesitating or considering something.
After about ten seconds or so, Zane picked up the ss of wine from the table without clinking it with
Javon''s ss. He looked at Vincent and said, "I came here tonight because of you. I also ept your
and Mr. Griffith''s apologies. But I won''t forgive him."
Zane then drank all the wine in his ss before saying, "You guys enjoy your meal. I have something
else to do."
Zane''s clear attitude was already giving Vincent some respect.
Therefore, Vincent did not dare ask for anything more and just looked at Zane, saying: "Why don''t you
eat something? You didn''t seem to have eaten much earlier."
Zane waved his hand and replied: "No need. Someone has cooked for me."
As he stood up to leave, he bowed slightly towards Javon as a sign of respect from a junior to an elder,
nothing more than that.
After rejecting Javon''s request earlier, yet he still showed him some respect afterwards. It felt like
getting pped in the face followed by receiving candy.
When Zane left the private room, Javon leaned back against his chair, feeling drained: "I told you
before that someone like him won''t help us rise again!"
Vincent nced at Javon: "You did what you did with Lanast time, which caused his wife''s
miscarriage; they haven''t reconciled yet till now... Do you think with what he is as a person, he would
still help you based on our old connections?"
Vincent spoke coldly, adding: "He has already given us enough face bying over tonight! At least
from now on when you want to do anything in Manches City such as trying to make aeback or any
other ns... he won''t stand in our way! Be content with that."
Javon was speechless after hearing these words from Vincent but still had an expression wanting to
argue back.
However, Vincent didn''t give him any chance:"Alright then finish eating and go home! Don''t even think
about asking for anymore help from him! If it were me instead, I would be even harsher than he is!"
With those words, Vincent silenced Javonpletely.
Meanwhile, Zanewent downstairs after leaving the private roomand sat down in the lounge area next
door. He wouldn''t have drunk that wine ifhe hadn''t told Yanis earlier that he had been drinking alcohol
today. Zane sat half reclined in a chair, ncing at the time on his phone. It had only been about ten
minutes since he called Yanis, but it felt like an eternity. He considered calling her again, but ultimately
decided against it.
Upstairs in the private room, Yanis and her friends finished their meal. M noticed Yanis checking the
time for the third time and asked if she had somewhere to be.

Yanis looked up at M and replied softly, "Just a friend who needs me to give him a rideter."
M suggested they leave then and there. Libby agreed with her and Marquis offered to pay for their
meal before they all left together.
As they descended the stairs, M whispered something to Ivan while Libby took a phone call behind
them. That left only Marquis walking alongside Yanis.
"I''ll get back to you about school as soon as possible," Yanis said first.
Marquis responded quietly with a nod of agreement. "No rush though - you should ask your students
what they think too."
The two chatted briefly about work until they reached the lobby where Yanis scanned around looking
for Zane''s figure without sess.
"Looking for someone?" Marquis asked after noticing where she was looking.
Yanis didn''t deny it. "A friend called me earlier asking me to give him a ride home since Albi has some
family issues going on right now."
Marquis nodded understandingly before saying goodbye until the next time he parted ways with
everyone else outside the building except Ivan, who asked if Bonnie wasing instead of Zane this
time around.
Yanis replied quietly that it was indeed Zane who needed her help this evening, which made Ivan raise
an eyebrow in surprise at how unique his tactics were! Although Ivan had just realized Zane''s
intentions, he didn''t expose him and simply nodded at Yanis. "Alright, then you wait for him here. We''ll
head back first."
Yanis responded with an "okay" and added, "Drive slowly." After bidding farewell to Ivan and his
friends, Yanis turned around and headed back into the lobby.
Just as she was about to call Zane, her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and answered directly:
"You''re not done yet?"
Zane''s deep voice came through the phone into Yanis'' ear: "Take a right turn ahead."
Upon hearing Zane''s voice, Yanis lifted her foot and walked towards the right side of the lobby.
After a few steps, Zane hung up his phone.
Yanis was taken aback, but before she could realize it, she heard a familiar voice say: "Yanis over
here."
Turning her head in response to the sound of his voice led her gaze towards a bouquet of flowers.
Then she saw that it was Zane holding them as he stood up from one of the chairs nearby.
Standing still in ce while looking at him made Yanis think about what he saidst night outside their
studio door: "I''ll buy you flowers every day from now on."
Thinking of this made Yanis lift her foot forward and ask curiously, "We weren''t having dinner with
clients, so where did these flowerse from?"
Zane handed over the bouquet saying, "They were sent by someone."
Suppressing his urge to call Yanis earlier when they were eating dinner together, Zane searched for
same-day delivery options on his mobile device, which allowed quick delivery nearby.
Timing-wise, it worked perfectly because just as they stepped out of an elevator, Yanis had arrived
downstairs carrying those very same flowers that had been delivered by courier moments ago.
But when he saw an unfamiliar man standing next to Yanis though, Zane suddenly felt like returning the
bouquet of flowers. However, it only took a moment for him to suppress that feeling. He couldn''t jump
to conclusions about Yanis knowing more details.
Taking hold of the bouquet, Yanis said, "Did you drink?"
Zane lowered his head and replied with a low voice: "Yes." Then he leaned forward a little and asked
her: "Smell it."
Caught off guard by this sudden move, Yanis moved her head upwards causing their foreheads to
collide briefly against each other before smelling the faint scent of alcohol emanating from the flowers.
Zane didn''t straighten up after being bumped into; instead, he maintained his leaning posture while
asking: "Do you smell it?"
Feeling nervous, Yanis muttered softly in response,"Yes, I do."
