Chapter 166 Encrypted message

    Chapter 166 Encrypted message

Tossing and turning, Robert was restless and couldn''t fall sleep. His mind was racing, thinking about

the good times that he had had with Linda when they were younger. In particr, two years ago, when

they were reading books in the library in silence.

Her presence was enough to make it memorable.

And he missed such times. He missed her.

He had taken that time for granted, not knowing that that was thest time they could have alone.

    It was already 4pm.

    "Paul, any words from Linda?"

Charles sat on the sofa in the living room of Mu n, and knocked the table in a rhythmic way. The

expression on his face was stiff and rigid, And his eyes were blood-shot, in agony that he had yet to

hear or find the love of his life. She had disappeared, without a word and as much as they tried, She

couldn''t be found. Who had taken Linda?

"No, Young Master Mu. I''m sorry." Paul answered, his voice almost a whisper.

"Keep checking! Use all the resources we have!" Charles demanded, pounding the table hard.

"Yes, sir!" Paul responded, retreating back to his office to continue the investigation.

Finally, there was a breakthrough in the case. At 7am, Paul rushed back into the living room, finding

Charles in the same spot that he had left him. "Young Master Mu, I think I found Her Ladyship! She is in

    Huo''s vi."

    "Huo''s vi?"

    Charles'' facial expression turned grim.

Did Robert Huo kidnap Linda? Charles didn''t think so. Robert didn''t seem like he could. Even though

he had history with Linda, he was a respected member of the society.

If not Robert, then Adam is the most likely suspect. Oh no... Charles thought, shivering at the prospect

that a delusional man had abducted Linda. Charles knew Adam was indeed much more sophisticated

than he looked. People usually underestimated Adam, but not Charles.

He was an absolute unfathomable and dangerous individual. He sympathized with Adam''s

predicament, caused by an incident that happened years ago.

Did Adam me him? Charles thought, standing up. He began to pace back and forth, worried. What

happened to Adam wasn''t Charles'' fault

But it had something to do with him.

"Yes, Young Master. But it was strange how I discovered the news. I just..."

"What is it?" Charles interjected. "I discovered her location by chance. I received an encrypted text

message about her whereabouts. It''s very suspicious."

"I don''t care Paul, I just want to get Linda. Once she is safely in my arms, then we will figure the rest

outter. Let''s go." Charles quipped, already half way to the front door.

Linda felt an excruciating pain in her head

As if it was going to explode.

Her memory had yet toe back. Perplexed, she tried to recall what had just happened. When she

opened her eyes, she found herself in a foreign ce, but the ceiling seemed familiar.

    Where am I?

She touched her Dragon Ring on her hand subconsciously, resting easy that she still had it. She looked

down at herself, and breathed a sigh of relief, that her clothes remained intact and on her body.

As she turned around, she saw Robert lying on the nearby couch with his eyes closed. Obviously, he

    was sleeping.

    What''s going on in here?

All she could remember was that at 4pm yesterday, when she was leaving school, the driver of a ck

car parking at the gate imed that he was asked by Charles to pick her up, matching what Charles

had told her earlier, so she got in without a hesitation.

When she entered the car, she immediately felt that there was something wrong. But it was toote.

The driver locked the doors and turned around with a handkerchief in his hand. The handkerchief was

doused, in what was presumably chloroform, and forcibly ced around her mouth and nose. She

struggled to swat the assant''s hand away, but the grip was too strong. Soon after, she cked out.

Linda regretted that she didn''t mull over the driver''s statement, which was full of loopholes. It didn''t

make sense and she only realized this when she was already in the car.

She had thought that she was kidnapped by someone random but now that she saw Robert she wasn''t

sure what to think. It was so weird.

Instinctively, she figured that Robert wouldn''t hurt her, because if he was nning to, He wouldn''t have

slept on the sofa the whole night.

Linda concluded that Robert hadn''tid his hands on her, as she didn''t feel that there was anything

wrong with her body, and no item of clothing was out of ce.

But why did he bring her back here?

She was confused about everything and needed answers soon.

Robert was a light sleeper and, woke up as soon as he heard Linda fidgeting.

He felt uneasy as he noticed that she was looking at him suspiciously with a glint of fear in her eyes.

His heart sank. He never wanted her to think that he could ever hurt her.

    "Linda, you are awake."

Knotting her eyebrows, Linda looked at him and asked, "What''s happening, Robert?"

Robert didn''t know how to exin it. He couldn''t tell Linda that his little brother Adam had abducted her,

nor could he tell her that she was presented to him as a gift. It sounded absurd even when he thought

about it. If he did, their friendship was very likely toe to an end and, There would be conflict

between the two families. So Robert decided to make up a story. "I wanted some information about the

schoolst night, so I called you. But your phone was switched off. I thought it was strange, so I

checked your GPS to see where you were. When I located you, you had been left on a bench by the

road with a handkerchief, which had been doused with chloroform by your side. I knew you had been

drugged. So, I thought it best to bring you somewhere safe, so I brought you here."

    "Really?

Thank you for bringing me to safety, Robert."

Linda answered, an expression of doubt on her face.

Linda was sure that Robert wasn''t telling the truth. But so far he didn''t mean to harm or offend her. But

at the back of her mind, a thought gnawed at her. How did Robert conveniently find her drugged at a

bench on the roadside and yet Charles couldn''t?

    That didn''t make sense!

Another thought was; why did Robert bring her back to his house, instead of calling Charles or even

    Taking her home?

Didn''t he know that she was engaged?

She couldn''t think about the situation anymore, as it made her head ache. She just wanted to go home.

She rose from the bed, slowly; making sure that the sudden movement didn''t make her headache

    worse.

Besides, it was inappropriate for an engaged woman to be in the bed of a man that wasn''t her

    intended.

"Thank you, Robert. I will treat you to dinner some other day. But now, I have to go. Charles must be

worried sick about me." With that, she put on her shoes, ready to leave. Suddenly, someone knocked

at the door. Robert gently said, "Come in."

Alice Mei opened the door, "Master Robert, there is a group of people in the living room for you. They

    are demanding to see ..."

Before she could finish, Alice Mei noticed Linda.

    Her mouth fell open.

"I told them that there was nody here in with you, but there she is.

Master Robert, what should I tell them?"

The inquiry gave Robert a headache. He didn''t know how to exin to Alice why and how Linda was in

    his room.

    "Uh...Alice Mei, I uh..."

To her recollection, Alice didn''t remember seeing Robert bringing Linda home. How did she get here?

    She asked herself.

Just then a group of people rushed in, With Charles and Paul at the forefront.

When Charles saw Linda sitting there, safe and sound, his icy demeanor mitigated.

Now that Linda was fine, a weight lifted off his mind."Linda, my love." He approached her and wrapped

his arms around her.Charles had been worried about her the whole night. He had no clue who had

taken her or where she was.Paul had been searching for herst night but found nothing until half an

hour ago. Paul received a suspicious text message about her whereabouts. But it looked like someone

deliberately wanted her to be found in Robert''s presence, but why?
