Chapter 140 The Walls Came Tumbling Down


    Bun shook her head, "It''s not like that. My father wasn''t executed secretly because they lost the battle.


    The enemies knew our strategies before the war. So, we were doomed to lose either way." She


    managed to say.


    "But how?" Linda''s curiosity peaked.


    Bun looked down on the ground with her lips slightly quivering. Then she bit her lips and said, "It''s


    because of me."


    Back then, I was there every night, watching my father nning our strategic moves. I paid so much


    attention and so I knew almost every detail about them. I did it because I wanted my father to be proud


    of me, and I knew that''s what he wanted."


    Bun was bing calm as she kept talking, "I was kidnapped one night when my father left for a


    meeting."


    "Did they torture you to get the information out of you?" Linda asked, already able to piece the puzzle


    together.


    "No, they didn''t. But they hypnotized me. All I could remember was that they put a helmet-like thing on


    my head, and my head was kind of buzzing and I became so sleepy. And then it was a blur." Bun


    shuddered, remembering memories that she had tried to suppress. She still has nightmares about it.


    "But how did you know you were hypnotized? You were supposed to be unconscious." Linda then


    brought up another question. Though it was Bun''s fault that they lost the battle, one could hardly me


    her for being hypnotized and revealing the secrets.


    So, Linda began to review the situation and hoped to find something that might help Bun.


    It seemed that Sarah Shen found out recently. But how did she find out? Who told her? Linda had no


    doubt that Sarah Shen would use this information against Bun.


    "Well I didn''t, at first. I was hypnotized and told them everything, but I had been sent back home when I


    woke up. And we had already lost the war by that moment. Then, a group of people came to my house


    and took me away. The doctors ran some tests on me and then told me I was hypnotized and that I had


    given away all our tactics when I didn''t even know it..."


    Linda stroked Bun''s head, trying tofort her. She felt so sorry for Bun, "I shouldn''t have forced you


    to reveal your secret. We all have something that we''d like to keep to ourselves. It''s only because


    Sarah Shen knows about this and I know that she will use it to hurt you. I just wanted to see if I can


    help you. I hope you don''t mind."


    Bun shook her head with a weak smile, "It''s alright, My Lady."


    Bun then filled Linda in on the rest of the story, starting with the fact that Bun was also supposed to be


    executed. However, trying to save his best friend''s daughter, James Mu went to his father and hoped


    that there was something he could do to help. And finally, Bun was saved and sent to an orphanage. A


    few yearster, Bun volunteered to join the female armed police force and stayed there for eight whole


    years. After that, she wanted to return the favor to the Mu n, and so she became Charles Mu''s


    bodyguard.


    Linda empathized with the trials and tribtions that Bun had gone through in her life. Bun was born


    into a great family with a marvelous father. She used to have it all and she could have been the


    greatest female naval officer ever!


    Linda decided to talk to Charles Mu about itter, for there was still something that she couldn''t figure


    out, what exactly did Lord Mu do to keep Bun alive?


    If people found out the truth, could Bun be lucky enough to get away with treason? Even though it was


    involuntary, it was still considered treason to reveal secrets to the enemy. Bun might have been


    executed secretly back then when thew system was imperfect, But not in these days. ording to


    the relevantws that Linda had looked up, Bun would only serve her sentence in jail for probably


    seven years.


    "Alright, let''s just go home. You haven''t eaten today, right?" said Linda while taking Bun''s hand.


    Linda had no idea what Sarah Shen was going to do, and so she decided to strike first.

    As for the truck, was it a pure ident? Or was someone pulling strings behind the scenes?


    Linda couldn''t get these questions out of her mind. She believed the truck was by no means driven


    towards her direction by ident. Besides, police had confirmed that the truck had a loose brake pad,


    which meant someone had interfered with the vehicle!

    They went back to the vi and Linda instructed the cook to prepare them something to eat. Though


    Bun was not in the mood of eating, Linda encouraged her to eat. "Just for some strength..." Linda said.


    Linda believed one should never miss a meal even if you they just had the worst day of their lives.


    It was about seven o''clock when the clouds broke and it started to pour heavily. The rain was so heavy


    that Charles Mu was drenched when he walked from the vi''s front gate to the porch.


    "You''re home." Linda helped Charles take off his suit zer and urged, "Quickly. Go take a shower."


    "Alright, honey. We had figure out what happened to the truck. I''ll go take?a shower and Paul will fill


    you in the details." Charles Mu smiled andy a gentle kiss on Linda''s forehead, and then he headed to


    the bathroom.


    Paul then took a paper from the file he was carrying, "My Lady, the driver of the truck has a three-year-


    old daughter. She has heart problems, and they need as much money as they can get to cater for


    medical expenses." Paul paused as Linda retrieved the paper from his hand and scrolled through it.


    "Let me guess, did he just happen to receive a huge amount of money?" Linda looked up and asked.


    It''s as if she knew the answer.


    "Yes. And they''re sly enough to transfer the money by EMS delivery service other than the bank. I''ve


    checked the driver''s bank ount as well as his rtives'', and everything seemed perfectly normal.


    Then I found out the money was transferred by delivery." Paul paused for effect, looking at Linda.


    "Wow, that''s so awesome. But how did you find out?" Linda couldn''t help but wonder.


    "Haha, My Lady, all packages are scanned before they''re collected. We''ve checked them all and found


    this EMS package extremely strange. The scanned photo revealed that the package contained?stacks


    of banknotes. This peaked my curiosity so I investigated further."


    Paul then revealed another point, "The money was sent by a neighbor of Sarah Shen''s old ssmate


    from elementary school." Sarah Shen again? What in the world is she up to? Linda thought.
