The boy continued yelling hysterically while hurling objects at Angeline, including liis pillow and bottles
on the table.
Angeline''s heart sank to the bottom of her stomach when she was faced with Sebastian''s sudden
rejection.
Even though her thigh, which was scalded earlier, was still hurting, and her forehead was already
covered with beads of perspiration, the woman did not dare to leave.
Suddenly, a bottle flew right at her.
Angeline did not see iting and was unable to dodge in time. Just as she prepared herself to be hit,
she was pulled into a broad embrace.

Angeline froze for a few seconds before she looked up at the man with a worried expression.

Sebastian''s bed. He held the boy down by his shoulders before lifting him up.

Sebastian started hitting Evander while trying to struggle out of the man''s aims. Seeing that his efforts
were to no avail, he started crying.
Evander put the boy back on the bed and watched coldly by the side as he continued crying.
Angeline felt her heart clench. Wlien she could no longer take it and was about to walk toward the boy,
Evander extended liis aim and ced his hand on the woman''s shoulder.
Calmly, he reminded her, “Don''t go over unless you want him to be controlled by liis autism for the rest
of liis life.”
Wlien Angeline heard that, she halted in her tracks. At that moment, her heart was burning with anxiety.
More than anyone else, she hoped that Sebastian would recover. She could not help but feel that she
owed the boy a lot. and it pained her greatly to see him suffer.
Realizing that crying did not help, Sebastian tried to pull out the tubes that were attached to liis body.
Finally, Evander could no longer stand idly by. He grabbed the boy''s shoulders and looked at him at
eye level before saying in a solemn voice, “Stop moving about!”
There was no hint of jest in the man''s voice. On the other hand, anger could be seen in liis eyes.
“We spent an entire day trying to save you from the brink of death. If you pull out the tubes, you will die
from not being able to breathe. If that happens, you will no longer be able to go to school, and you will
not be able to see your mommy and Floretta forever. So, you''d better think carefully before you do
anything.”
Tears welled up in Sebastian''s eyes. It seemed like Evander''s words had scared him.
Angeline furrowed her brows in concern when she heard that as she thought that Evander was a little
too harsh on the boy.
Nevertheless, she had to admit that it had produced desired results.
Although Sebastian was pouting and had an aggrieved expression, his eyes were filled with fear as he
looked at Evander.
He no longer dared to throw tantrums in front of the man. Grabbing theers of liis nket, he swiftly
burrowed underneath.
Seeing that the boy had calmed down. Angeline quickly pressed the bell above his bed to summon the
nurse who was on duty.
Sebastian remained quiet and held back his tears while the nurse reinserted liis breathing tube and IV
drip.
Instead of describing the boy as being sensible, it was more apt to attribute liis behavior to liis timid and
inferior nature as a result of what he had been through.
He had gotten liis fail'' share of beatings ever since he was young. As such, he had never dared to
throw tantrums. If he felt like crying, he would do so quietly.
Even though Sebastian was only five, the shine in his eyes was long gone.
While Evander walked the nurse out, Angeline sat next to the boy''s bed and fixed her gaze on liis pale
face.
Letting out a heavy sigh, she said, “Don''t be mad at me. We have to do this so that you can be like
other normal kids as soon as possible. You have to be a good boy and receive treatment. Let''s
persevere together, okay?”
Sebastian remained silent for a while before turning around and wiping away the tears at theer of
liis eyes with liis shoulders.
He had stopped crying and was behaving himself. A whileter, he closed liis eyes and drifted off to
sleep.
Angeline was not sure if he had heard what she said.
Wlien she saw the boy''s tear-stricken face, her heart wrenched in pain.
Suddenly, her phone in her pocket rang. She took it out and nced at the caller ID.

The woman''s expression tensed when she saw thewyer''s name shing on the screen of the phone.
Not wanting to disturb Sebastian''s sleep. Angeline switched her phone to silent mode and exited the
room quietly after tucking the boy in.
She did not know where Evander was as she did not see him anywhere in the silent corridor.
Angeline answered the call, and thewyer''s respectful voice sounded from the other end of the line.
“Good evening, Ms. Sorelle. How is Mr. Sebastian doing?”
Hearing that, Angeline visibly rxed and replied in a much gentler voice, “He has already woken up.
Thanks for asking.”
“That''s wonderfill news! You must have been so worried. Anyway, Ms. Sorelle. I have good news for
you. The court has already decided on Mr. Sebastian''s case. Congrattions, you have been awarded
liis custody.”
Angeline was overjoyed upon hearing that. The weight that had been crushing her heart was finally
lifted.
She felt genuine gratitude toward thewyer as she breathed a deep sigh of relief. “Thank you. You''ve
worked hard. Let me buy you a meal when things are more stable.”
“Please don''t mention it, Ms. Sorelle. I''m just doing my job.”
After a pause, thewyer suddenly changed the topic. “However, I found something suspicious when I
was miming a background check on Sebastian.”
It turned out that Angeline''s happiness was short-lived. Her heart skipped a beat when she heard the
man''s words, and she tightened her grip on her phone.
“Please go ahead.”
In a grave voice, thewyer said, “ording to wrhat you told me, Sebastian was previously abducted
from the orphanage before being sold to David. If that were the case, the orphanage should have liis
information. However, upon checking, the orphanage did not have any records of Sebastian.”
All color drained out of Angeline''s face when she heard that, and the gaze in her eyes darkened.
“Are you sure?” the w’oman asked, her heart racing with nervousness.
Thewyer hesitated for a few seconds before answering in a serious tone, “Ms. Sorelle, I wouldn''t
dare to joke about that. It was indeed wdiat I found out from my investigation, but I can''t be a hundred
percent sure. There might be more than meets the eye. If you really want to know'' the truth, I would
suggest you make a trip to the orphanage yourself. You might be able to find some usefill information.”
After saying that, he hung up. It was obvious from thewyer''s ambiguous reply that he did not wrant to
get himself into any trouble.
However, the conversation left Angeline with conflicting emotions wan ing in her heart.
If wdiat the man said was true, that Sebastian had never stayed at the orphanage, then the statement
made to the court about the boy being kidnapped from the orphanage back then would no longer be
valid, and a retrial would be needed.
Moreover. Joseline was the one wrho told Angeline back then that her child was still alive.
Given that the evil woman would resort to any means to acquire the Sorelle Group, including murdering
people. Angeline had no doubt that she would have tampered with the information regarding
