Chapter 238
All of a sudden, a ruckus broke out in the crowd. Some arrogant folks even began to attack the police.
Witnessing the scene. Angeline felt helpless and mentally exhausted.
I can''t believe this madness! Not only did they refuse to hear me out, but they even resorted to
violence.
Just then, Hanson grabbed a megaphone and raised his voice to dissuade everyone. ‘’Stop fighting!”
His voice resonated across the streets with the help of the megaphone.
The people then all directed their furious gazes toward Hanson alone. Thetter, though, remained
unruffled.
“Everyone, hear me out, please. I''m the general manager of Yiurk Group, and I''m also Joseline''s ex-
husband. I can vouch for Angeline. She has absolutely nothing to do with Sorelle Group,” he uttered
with determination.
There was silence in the crowd.
Hanson went on, “If you guys truly want to get your money back, demand it from Joseline, the owner of
Sorelle Group. Use thew to protect your interest.”
Everyone did not make a sound.
“By stirring up trouble here, not only will you not be solving the problem, but you might even end up
behind bars. It''d not be worthwhile once that happens,” added Hanson.
He could see that his words had hit home with the people. Each of them fell into deep thought, and no
longer was anyone kicking up a fuss.
Seizing the opportunity, Hanson wrapped his arm across Angeline''s shoulders and brought her away
from that ce.
As the two of them got away from the crowd, Angeline abruptly stopped before pointing in the direction
where her car was.
Hanson caught on to that at once. While he supported the woman, they both walked toward the car.
Angeline took out the car keys from her pocket and opened the door, only to be greeted by Sebastian''s
frightened appearance. The boy was shivering as he cowered in theer.
Angeline was not at all surprised by what she saw. She quickly approached the little boy and embraced
that fragile body of his.
“Don''t be afraid. Mommy''s here now. No one is going to hurt us,” were herforting words.
Sebastian could feel a sense of security from his mother, and he stopped sobbing altogether.
During the interim, Hanson had already slid into the driver''s seat. He even sneaked a peek at the
mother-and-son duo through the rearview mirror. His eyes gradually darkened.
“I''ll drive off first. It''s not safe here. Those people mighte back to harass you again.”
“All right. Thank you.”
Angeline sounded polite yet distant. She had tried not to trouble Hanson as much as possible. Yet, that
man turned out to be her savior that day.
Furthermore, given her current state, she was not fit to drive anyway.
The car eventually came to a halt in front of a luxury hotel.
Gazing at the view outside the window. Angeline could not help but fuirow her brows.
“Actually... You can just send us home.”
“I don''t feelfortable leaving you guys at home on your own, not like this.”
As Hanson said that, he got out of the car. walked around the vehicle, and opened the door to the
backseat. Pinning a sincere gaze on Angeline, he prompted, “Go in and wash away the paint first.
Don''t worry. I won''t do anything to you. The boy is with us, after all.”
A tinge of deliberation flitted across Angeline''s eyes when she heard the man''s words. Deep down, she
wavered.
Looking at the sticky paint all over her body, she felt extremely ufortable. It was as though she
was swathed in stic wrap.
Moreover, she, for one. understood what kind of person Hanson was. As scheming as that man might
be. he had always frowned upon forcing others into doing his bidding.
Angeline managed to calm herself down a bit at that thought. With Sebastian in her aims, she followed
Hanson into the hotel.
Obviously, thetter had booked a suite beforehand. After receiving the keycard from the front desk,
they boarded the elevator.
In front of the door to the suite stood a man dressed like an assistant. He had quite a few’ shopping
bags in his hands. The second Angeline came into sight, he nodded respectfully.
“Hello, Ms. Sorelle. It''s been a while.”
“Hello.”
Angeline mustered a grin in return. She could recognize that assistant in a heartbeat. It was the same
one wrho had been serving Hanson when thetter first started his business.
Hanson took over the shopping bags from his assistant before opening the door and ushering Angeline
and Sebastian inside.
“There''s already a w’ater heater installed in the bathroom. You can take your time to clean up. I''ll look
after Sebastian for you.”
Hanson came off as an attentive man w’hen he spoke. Right after that, he passed those shopping bags
to Angeline.
“Here, change into these.”

“Thanks.”
Left with no choice, Angeline could only ept them. She lowered her gaze and remarked.
“Remember to send me the bills. I''ll pay you.”
“Angeline, you really don''t have to be so courteous with me.” Exasperated. Hanson forced a faint smile
and reminded. “After all, we''re... friends, so you honestly don''t have to refuse. It''s not much.”
There was a hint of sorrow7, in the man''s tone. He had even paused for a bit when he spoke.
Nevertheless, Angeline pretended not to notice as she stated apathetically, “If you feel embarrassed to
tell me the actual prices, I''ll wire you the amount I see fit. I hope you don''t mind.”
Upon finishing that sentence, she fished out her phone from her pocket before sending Hanson a
payment of ten thousand. Afterpleting the transaction, she made a beeline for the bathroom.
Her rtionship with Hanson had ahvays been veryplicated, not to mention that she also knew all
along howr the man felt for her.
Had she really epted Hanson''s kind intentions, she would only be letting both Evander and herself
down.
Hence, it wrould be best for her not to owre Hanson anything at all.
Still, Hanson was very thoughtful in making the necessary preparations. He had even gotten ready
some paint-removing showrer gel for her.
Just as Angeline was washing up in the bathroom, she could hear Sebastian''s cryinging from
outside. As fast as she could, she turned off the tap and trotted out of the bathroom.
In the living room, there Hanson was, clumsily trying to soothe Sebastian''s nen es. Even so, the little
boy''s face and ears were flushed red as he struggled to break free from Hanson''s embrace time and
again.
Upon catching a glimpse of Angeline, Hanson shed her a helpless grin.
“I didn''t think it would turn out like this. I''m so bad at this...”
Angeline was rather amused to hear that. She approached Sebastian to cany him and sat on the
couch, gently patting the boy''s back the whole time.
Soon enough, Sebastian ceased throwing a fit. As hey in his mother''s aims, he fell into a slumber in
a matter of seconds.
“I''m so sony. Sebastian''s a special kid and very timid. I hope you''re not offended,” exined Angeline
politely.
Immediately afterward, she fetched a nket to cover the boy.
“It''s okay.”
As Hanson stared at Sebastian, he raised a meaningful query. “Is he the son you lost five years ago?”
“Yeah.”
That was Angeline''s only response. Considering how quiet she was, it wras as clear as day that she
wras unwilling to tell Hanson more.
Just like that, the air in the room became aw’kward.
It was after Angeline had settled Sebastian down on the other side of the couch that Hanson piped up,
“All this while, I had yet to find the time to visit you. I''ve even forgotten to congratte you.”
