Chapter 228
Angeline stared at the ss of water, and a glint shed across her eyes.
In all honesty, she did not doubt Evander at all.
After all, there was no way Sorelle Group could flourish under Joseline’s management. However,
Angeline had not expected her to do so badly!
When Angeline knew about it, she realized what the problem was. She looked slightly stunned, and her
lips quivered.
“Are you saying that Grandpa didn’t leave me a single share of Sorelle Group as it was meant to be a
fatal blow to Joseline?”
Evander leaned back slightly in his chair when he heard that and seemed impressed with Angeline.
“So, you aren’t that stupid, after all.”
Angeline looked astonished as she straightened her back with a jerk.
That’s right.
How did something as simple as this not ur to me?
Grandpa was a man who was very clear about his feelings. There is no way he would allow Joseline to
live a happy and peaceful life.
That’s good to know. If not, I’ll always feel bad for my parents.
It was her own fault too. Previously, she was always making a fuss about how she wanted to get the
shares of thepany back. However, because of her hectic work schedule, she had never done a
thorough investigation of thepany.
“Daddy, Angel, is the food ready yet? I’m so hungry.”
Just then, the two children came running over from the y area. They swiped at their clean faces with
their small hands, which were dusty. In an instant, their faces turned dirty as well.
Evander looked downstairs and saw that the waiters were bringing the food up. It was then he nodded.
“Yeah, it’s about time.”
Angeline’s expression became gentler when she saw the children. She bent down and caressed
Sebastian’s rosy face.
“Did you have a good time with Floretta?”
Her touch embarrassed Sebastian even more. It was only after a while before he looked up and nodded
vigorously.
“That’s good,” said Angeline gently as she rubbed his head. “Just enjoy yourself during this period of
time and do things that make you happy. There’s no need to hold back.”
Sebastian looked down and remained quiet as usual. He seemed like an extremely obedient child.
At that moment, the waiters arrived with the dishes and ced them on the table.
With her tiny hands on the table, Floretta started salivating when she saw the sumptuous food before
her.
“Let me take the two of you to the restroom and wash your hands. If not, you aren’t allowed to eat,”
reminded Angeline with a serious face.
She stopped Floretta in time before the girl pounced on the food with her dirty hands.
“Okay!”
Floretta nodded and had no choice but to control her impulses. The children then left with Angeline.
Angeline ced them on stools, rolled up their sleeves, and gave them soap before teaching them how
to wash their hands.
Once all that was done, the trio left the restroom.
Just before they reached the table, she could hear Evander talking on the phone through the wall.
He stood there with one hand in his pocket. The sun cast its bright rays on his shoulders, making it
appear as though he was shimmering.
“Are you certain? There is no sign of that woman at all?”
He sounded really cold. In that instant, the atmosphere in the room became gloomy.
She had no idea what the other person said in response, but Evander sounded displeased and growled,
“Why are all of you so ipetent? How could you have lost her?”
He began pacing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. After a while, he stopped, and the fury on his face
eased a little. It was as if he was relieved.
“There will be no need for that. Don’t waste so much time and effort looking for her. Given the current
situation, Floretta doesn’t wish to find out the identity of her biological mother either.”
Her biological mother…
Angeline felt ufortable when she heard what he said, and her gaze turned grim.
The next moment, Evander began giving work-rted instructions to the person on the phone, so
Angeline did not interrupt him. Instead, she nced at Floretta and pondered for a while. In the end, she
could not help but ask out of curiosity, “Floretta, your daddy has been trying to look for your mommy. Are
you curious about her?”
“No.”
Floretta shook her head violently, and there was resistance in her eyes. “I only want you to be my
mommy. I don’t want anyone else.”
“Good girl.”
Warmth radiated from Angeline’s heart, and she was d.
In truth, she had her own selfish intentions. Deep down, she hoped that Evander would never find
Floretta’s mother so that she could spend more time with them.
Unfortunately, she was unable to change Evander’s mind.
The day Floretta acknowledged her birth mother, Angeline vowed she would leave discreetly.
While she was deep in her thoughts, Floretta whispered in her ear all of a sudden, “Angel, there’s very
little chance my daddy can locate my biological mother. I overheard his conversation with Mr. Miller a
while ago that she has been staying abroad all this while.”
Angeline pretended to ask casually, “Oh, I see. Which country is she staying in?”Copyright N?v/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Biting her nails, Floretta thought for a while and replied, “I don’t remember. I only recall Daddy saying it’s
a small town called Bellridge.”
What!
Angeline was shocked, and her hands on Floretta’s shoulders tightened. She asked agitatedly, “Are you
sure you heard correctly?”
“Angel, why are getting so excited?” Floretta frowned. She was in so much pain that she gasped and
said aggrievedly, “You’re hurting me.”
“I-I’m sorry.”
It was only then Angeline released her grip on the girl. However, the doubt and shock in her eyes were
still apparent.
Bellridge…
That was the location she lived abroad at for a few years after giving birth in order to stay away from
Joseline.
The town was near the sea, so most of the locals worked as fishermen. Not many people stayed there
because of the remote location, but they were all very warm and friendly.
During those years when Angeline stayed in that town, they had taken good care of her.
However, she did not expect that Floretta’s birth mother would be staying in that small town as well. She
had no idea at all.
Who could it be? I have never heard the vigers mention her once!
Angeline was lost in her thoughts. Suddenly, the curiosity in her gave her the urge to return to Bellridge
to do her own investigation.
“Why are you guys standing there?”
Just then, Evander’s voice rang out.
He had already ended his phone call. When he saw them standing there, he gestured to them with a
frown and said, “Come over and start eating. The food’s getting cold.”
“Okay.”
Angeline returned to her senses and brought the two children back to the table for their meal.
The two children were famished. They grabbed their forks and began gobbling up the food.
Angeline, on the other hand, pushed her food around. She had lost her appetite and was deep in her
thoughts again.
