Chapter 210
Upon her arrival at the hospital, Angeline was met with disgusted stares from the elderlydies, as if
her presence had been unweed.
Hospitals were often where people said goodbye to their loved ones, so it was a somber ce.
Angeline’s appearance was not appropriate for the asion.
Fortunately, she wore a mask to cover her face. Her appearance didn’t cause amotion. She
quickly entered the elevator, worried about the possibility of being criticized for her appearance.
Soon, Angeline reached the top floor, where there was no one around to stare at her. She was finally
able to breathe a sigh of relief.
When she pushed the door to the ward open, the light was switched off in Sebastian’s room. A faint
glow emitted by themp illuminated the living room, where Evander sat on the couch, paging through
a book.
The warm light from themp illuminated his profile, highlighting his sharp features and making him
look incredibly handsome.
Hearing the sound of the door, he raised his head to nce at Angeline.

He let out a snort and said, “Ms. Sorelle, you’ve grown bolder since you found the kids.”
Angeline’s face paled at his words. She attempted to cover her dreadlocks and exined quickly,
“Please don’t say that. I styled my hair like this for an advertisement and was in a rush to get back, so I
didn’t have time to take them out.”
She nced at the ward worriedly. “By the way, how are the kids?”
“Ss bought dinner and some snacks for them after he finished work. They ate and then fell asleep,”
Evander reported formally, then closed the book he was holding.
Angeline exhaled lightly and offered a smile. “I’m d to hear that. They didn’t trouble you, did they?”
“No, it’s easier to understand what they’re thinking than to understand you,” Evander replied coldly,
emphasizing thest few words as if trying to remind Angeline of something.
Angeline pursed her lips and stood rooted in her spot awkwardly.
She knew Evander was still mad at what had happened previously, but she had no idea how to ease
their rtionship.
In the meantime, Evander stood up and brushed away an imaginary speck of dust from his coat. He
reminded her, “Sebastian isn’t doing well, and Floretta is having trouble focusing on her studies at the
kindergarten. I took a few days off for her so she could stay with Sebastian.”
“Thank you.” Angeline finally regained her senses. It took her a while to find her voice. “Don’t worry. I’ll
take good care of Floretta.”
“Are you saying that filming has ended?”
His simple question gave Angeline a p in the face. Feeling embarrassed, she replied meekly, “Not
yet. Two days more.”
“Don’t offer to help, then. I’ll ask Francesca to help care for the kids tomorrow.”
“Really?” Angeline’s eyes lit up in excitement.
Evander had a lot of faith in Francesca, who had been looking after Floretta for many years.
Angeline had also spent some time with Francesca and was satisfied with her care. This meant that
Angeline didn’t have to stress about the kids, as she was confident that Francesca was capable of
taking care of them.
She would feel less guilty toward Evander, too.
“I’m doing this for Floretta, so don’t read too much into it,” Evander responded frostily. He acted like a
stranger who had offered help conveniently.
Angeline watched as he walked past her. Her expression grew somber as a mix of conflicting feelings
stirred within her.
She knew Evander was still angry with her, but it felt suffocating tomunicate with him in this
uncertain way. A look of self-doubt briefly appeared in her eyes.
Yes, I’m ridiculous for overestimating myself. Evander is smart, so why would he believe me?
Angeline felt a sense of relief that she had not revealed the truth. She had a feeling that something was
not right about her sexual assault from five years ago.
I might’ve found my child, but what about Hanson’s ring? The fact that it was discovered in Joseline’s
drawer is hard to ignore. If it were not connected to the sexual assault incident that urred five years
ago, Hanson would not have ced it there without reason.
Until now, Angeline couldn’t be sure whether Evander had anything to do with the ring.
She was aware that Evander would fly into a rage if he found out that she had suspicions about him
without any valid reason.
Angeline was filled with despair. With a bitterugh, she resignedly trudged toward the shower.
The advertisement shoot proceeded without any issues. Even though Denise taunted Angeline on set,
Angeline did not falter. She found ways to make things difficult for Denise, causing thetter to be
scolded by the director multiple times.
When filming finally came to an end, the director presented a bouquet of lilies to Angeline along with an
invitation card. Beaming, he said, “Thank you for working hard, Ms. Sorelle.”
“I’m merely doing my job. I’m d I didn’t cause you any trouble.” Angeline looked at the invitation card
and asked, “What is this?”
“Did your manager tell you that you’ll have to attend an event on ourpany’s behalf? Your mission is
to promote our brand to the public.”
“Oh, she didn’t tell me about that.” Angeline’s brows furrowed.
Apany needed to promote its brand using famous individuals, but Angeline had only agreed to
work with reputable brands like Starlight Jewelry in the past. These brands had their own Public
Rtions teams that promoted the brand by leveraging social media trends.
This was the first time she was asked to attend the event personally.
“Ms. Sorelle, please refer to your contract. I believe this term is mentioned on thest page. Ms.
Yandell has already signed the contract,” the director replied.
“Okay. I trust you.” Angeline shed an apologetic smile and added helplessly, “I’ll make sure to be
there on time.”
The contract clearly outlined this term, so she decided not to back out on hermitment. If she were
to do so, she would have to pay a significant amount ofpensation for breaking the contract.
When Angeline walked out of the studio, the driver drove the minivan out of the garage. Angeline got
into the vehicle.
She swapped her ten centimeters high heels for a pair of ts, then reached into her pocket and pulled
out her phone. Dialing Nancy’s number, she waited for an answer.
“Hello?” Nancy’s voice sounded breathy, as though she had just woken up a while ago.
Angeline’s eyes lit up excitedly. “Ooh, you must be having fun overseas! Won’t you introduce me to
your new lover?”
“Stop it, Angeline,” Nancy replied, sounding shy. She then quickly changed the subject. “What do you
need from me?”
“About attending the event for Moistdore Cosmetics. Why didn’t you tell me anything about it? You
know I’m currently upied with taking care of Sebastian, and I don’t have time for anything else.”
“That’s exactly why you should attend more events to help you rx. Honestly, you look exhausted
from working so hard recently.”
