Chapter 175

    Chapter 175

“Grandpa is well along in years. Besides, he’s had pneumonia for so long now, which has mutated into

cancer. I think the chances of him surviving are slim.”

Hanson’s voice was dripping with regret.

Joseline had broken down once more and was weeping on the ground. He had no option but to help

    her up.

Angeline curled her hands into fists as she took in the scene before her.

What’s the point of putting on such a grief-stricken act when she didn’t spare an ounce of concern for

    Grandpa when he was drugged?

She eyed Joseline coldly and retorted blithely, “For the love of god, please stop crying. It’s not as if

Grandpa is dead. You seem to wish for his early passing with the amount of tears you’ve shed.”

The trembling in Joseline’s shoulders worsened with her racking sobs. She regained herself and

    pointed at Angeline.

“How could you speak of death so lightly? With the state that Grandpa is in, you might as well be

    cursing him!”

    “Me, cursing him?”

Angeline’s voice quavered with anger that had reached its tipping point.

“You’d best exin yourself. Grandpa has always been under your care all these years and was still in

the pink of healthst I saw him during his birthday celebration. It doesn’t make sense how he could

waste away in a matter of months!”

    “You—”

Joseline’s tears could not be staunched. It was as if a major tragedy had befallen her at the grievous

    look on her face.

“The doctor stated that his ailment resulted from years of negligence. Since you me me for not

caring for Grandpa well enough, I suppose you’ve done a better job by barely even visiting him?”

    N?velDrama.Org is the owner.

“At least I won’t harm him,” Angeline scoffed.

    Her words jolted Joseline.

    “What are you hinting at?”

“Stop this at once. Please keep your volume down in a hospital.” The doctor was followed by a group of

nurses as he made his way out of the emergency room.

Joseline regained herposure and approached the doctor urgently.

    “How’s Grandpa?”

The doctor said regretfully with a heavy sigh, “I’m sorry, Mrs. Yiurk. We tried our best, but Old Mr.

Sorelle’s condition is still unstable. There are two choices for him at the moment. The first is to let him

go peacefully, while the second is to remove half of his lung through surgery, after which he’d continue

to live on life support. He’d survive, but every day will be extremely torturous.”

Angeline’s face was nched of color, and her eyes were brimming with terror.

How have things taken such a rapid turn for the worse?

Wilfred had been capable of walking when she visited him, yet in a matter of days, he was already

confined to a sickbed, his survival hanging by a thread.

Has Joseline been tampering with his medication again?

The culprit behind Wilfred’s decline, Joseline, was putting on a convincing act as she staggered to her

feet and stered on an expression like the world was ending. “Grandpa, how could you abandon me

    just like Mom did?”

Hanson constantly provided her with tissues to wipe her tears whileforting her. He was evidently

deceived by her act of pretense.

“Don’t cry. Grandpa is still with us. I’ll seek out lung specialists from other countries to treat him.”

“Yes, please do!” A spark of hope lifted Joseline’s spirits as she clung tightly to the doctor’s hand and

    pleaded.

“I’ll pick the second choice. I believe Grandpa desires to continue living.”

Joseline’s words transformed Angeline’s face into a rictus.

She was about to voice her displeasure but was disregarded by the doctor, who’d received the green

light from Joseline to carry out the lung surgery.

The red light indicating an ongoing surgery lighted up, intensifying Angeline’s nagging worry, which

    manifested physically as sweaty palms.

Some elderly would have preferred death over living a life of suffering.

She would not judge if Joseline genuinely had any feelings of affection for Wilfred, but it was clear as

day that she was merely putting on the facade of a filial granddaughter at the end of the day.

Almost everything had fallen into ce in her grand scheme involving the Sorelle family.

It would be a win-win situation for her to sessfully acquire thepany while portraying the image

    of a devoted granddaughter.

Angeline could never have imagined anyone to be so grossly self-centered!

Wilfred was wheeled out from the ward shortly by a nurse. He was unconscious and intubated.

The tears in Angeline’s eyes were on the verge of falling, but she suppressed them with sheer

    willpower and shielded her face.

It must feel extremely agonizing for him.

“Grandpa!” Joseline wailed as she trailed the stretcher toward the ward.

Angeline would have followed behind them but was halted by Joseline’s warning, which oozed with

contempt, “Don’t you dare take another step closer. After being exiled from the Sorelle family by

Grandpa, you no longer have any right to the shares in the Sorelle Group.”

    Angeline’s heart dropped.

It turns out all that Joseline cares about is thepany’s shares!

Hanson admonished Joseline sternly, “What nonsense! Angeline is a member of the Sorelle family as

    well.”

    “As if!”

Joseline’s emotionally-charged voice echoed in the hall.

“Grandpa still has not forgiven Angeline for bringing shame to the family back then. Bold of you to

assume that he’ll be willing to see her even if he were to regain consciousness.”

Angeline froze mid-stride and went into a trance.

    True enough.

I’d been so caught up with everything that I didn’t even consider the possibility that Grandpa wouldn’t

    want to meet me.

    “Enough!”

Hanson had an iron-d grip on Joseline’s wrists. His typically gentle features were now grim. “Have

you not embarrassed us enough? Let’s go!”

He tugged her along as they departed from the emergency ward.

Angeline decided not to go after them after a moment’s consideration.

Wilfred’s sickness was dire enough that she wouldn’t want to exacerbate it with her appearance.

She would pay him a visit once his condition had improved.

Instead of leaving the hospital, Angeline entered the elevator and pressed the button to reach the

    topmost floor.

The topmost floor was built as a spaciousboratory free from themotion of the busy hospital.

It was a familiar routine of Angeline’s to knock on the door of theboratory and call out, “Is Dr.

    Kingsley here?”

She had received a text message from him that the drug test results were out.

Nheless, her busy schedule did not permit her to collect it from him.

Wilfred’s sudden admission to the hospital had reminded her of this matter of utmost importance.

A young female doctor doing drug research heard her call and responded, “He’s doing his rounds at

the moment but will be back soon. Pleasee in and sit for a while if you don’t mind.”

    “All right. Thanks.”

Angeline smiled amicably as she promptly headed to Liam’s workstation.
