Chapter 125
On the old A4 paper were several forensic photos. After the car crash, Angeline’s parents were turned
into a mass of bleeding flesh, lying in a pool of blood.
There were a few wide shots that showed many passersby with umbres surrounding the scene.
The sight made Angeline’s heart wrenched. She bit her lip hard, and tears began escaping her eyes.
Mom had always cared about appearances when she was still alive. Every time she apanied Dad
to an event, she would always ensure she looked the best in front of the cameras. Even if she only had
afternoon tea in the garden, she would also make sure she looked decent. Yet, her face had be
hideously bloody after the car crash. She must have been heartbroken to see so many people
surrounding her when she was still on the brink of her death.
“Ms. Sorelle,” Jasper, lightly tapping the table with his finger, called out to her. “I’m sorry for your loss,
but the dead can’t be resurrected. Please take a sip of water and calm down.”
“Thank you.” Angeline lowered her gaze to hide her pain. Her hands holding the ss trembled, and
several drops of hot water sshed on the back of her hands.
Staring at her, Jasper felt sorry and sighed.
“Originally, these archives were not supposed to be disclosed to outsiders. But since you are the
person Mr. Golding entrusted, we have made the exception for you.”
“I understand. I’ll investigate this matter discreetly and not get you into trouble.”
Angeline was much calmer after taking a sip of water. She took a deep breath and continued to go
through the documents.
The car ident happened at Okolow Bridge in Hallsbay. Her parents were in a Maybach when a truck
crashed into them. Due to the limited space on the bridge, the truck mmed directly into the sea after
the collision.
The bo of her parents’ Maybach was severely damaged from the impact. From a photo of the car
mirror shards, Angeline was surprised when she saw that the man knocked unconscious in the driver’s
seat was not her father.
Noticing something was off, she quickly looked up and asked, “Officer, was there a third person in my
parents’ car?”
Jasper frowned as he gave her question some thought before answering, “I think so. I didn’t go to
collect evidence at the scene back then, but my colleagues did mention that only the driver survived the
ident. I heard that he fell into aa after the ident and has yet to regain consciousness.”
His words made Angeline clutch the corners of her shirt dejectedly.
Once again, the hope that had rekindled in her heart died down.
Still, she requested Jasper to take her to herte parents’ Maybach to collect evidence.
Evander is right. The car ident caused a great stir back then, and everything rted to it was well-
preserved.
Enduring the grief, Angeline followed Jasper to the warehouse.
Besides a burned car covered with rust and soot, nothing else could be seen.
Angeline stood in front of the car, looking frail and meek as though the wind could blow her away.
Such a sight would make one’s heart wrench in pain.
“By the way, Ms. Sorelle, we found your mother’s belonging on her body back then while handling the
bodies and informed your sister about it. She told us to dispose of it, but we kept it anyway,” Jasper
solemnly said as he approached her with a tray wrapped in red cloth.
His words managed to bring Angeline back to her senses. She reached out and carefully unwrapped
the red cloth, revealing a ne with an emerald pendant.
This was Mom’s favorite jewelry when she was still alive! Never had I expected that it was not turned
into ashes by the raging fire.
Angeline, trembling, covered her mouth and nose and burst into tears when she saw the ne.
Since her parents’ death, she felt sad and regretful every day for not being able to see them onest
time.
Is this ne sce from Mom?
In a choked voice, she said, “Thank you. This ne is very important to me.” She wrapped the
ne and put it into her backpack.
“You don’t have to thank me. It was originally yours anyway.” Jasper patted her shoulder with an
apologetic smile. “It’s a shame that I couldn’t help you much.”
“No. You’ve given me a lot of information.”
At that, Angeline’s eyes gleamed as she thought of the driver—the only survivor of the car ident.
Although the driver is in a vegetative state, it’s still possible for him to regain consciousness. His family
may have some reliable information, too. Who knows?
“Officer Lacroix, I need your help with one more thing…” Angeline briefly exined what she needed to
Jasper.
He immediately dialed a number and gave her the address of the hospital where the driver was staying.N?velD(ram)a.?rg owns this content.
Back then, the cost of the driver’s follow-up treatments was all handled by Joseline, and he had been
receiving treatment in the best hospital in Hallsbay during the first year.
When people began to digress from the news, he was transferred to a small hospital in the county.
It was apparent how hypocritical Joseline was.
After Angeline got the address, she immediately left the police station and headed to the hospital.
Since she might not be able to make it back in time, she called Francesca to pick up Floretta that
evening.
About five hourster, when the sky turned dark, she finally arrived at an old building—the county
hospital.
Angeline got out of the car and thought it would be inappropriate to be empty-handed. Thus, she went
to the nearby supermarket and bought a fruit basket before walking into the inpatient department.
There weren’t many people in the hallway. The nurse on duty cradled her chin in her palm, yawning in
boredom.
At the sight of Angeline, who had most of her body and face covered up, she red at the former and
said in a somewhat harsh tone, “Hold it right there, miss. May I know who you’re looking for?”
Left with no choice, Angeline walked to the reception desk and inquired in a low voice, “I’m here to see
Delroy Quast. Could you please tell me which ward he’s in?”
The rude nurse let out a derisive snort and rolled her eyes impatiently. “Sorry. We have to protect the
privacy of our patients. You look suspicious. I can’t let you in.”
Angeline didn’t expect to be questioned due to her appearance. She rubbed her temples in frustration.
She scanned the surroundings to confirm not many people were around before slowly removing her
sunsses and mask.
“Are you relieved now?” she asked in a serious voice.
When the nurse saw her face, the former was so shocked that she struggled to speak.
“Aren’t… Aren’t you Angeline Sorelle? I’ve watched so many of your dramas. Gosh! Are my eyes
ying tricks on me?”
Upon hearing the loud voice of the nurse, Angeline promptly made a shushing gesture and said gently,
“I’m here to see a friend today, and I don’t want to attract any attention. Could you please tell me which
ward Delroy is staying in?”
“I understand. Well, Delroy has caused a great stir in our hospital. I’ll personally take you to him,” the
nurse excitedly exined before leaving the reception desk. Walking beside Angeline, she got
increasingly ted and said, “Angeline, I’m looking forward to your new film, The Journey.”
Angeline, replying from time to time, followed the nurse to the third floor and arrived at Ward 306.
