“Don’t worry, it’s just a rumor. I mean, seeing how he and Ang have been so good to you and Lily, it seems almost impossible, Cassie rambled quickly.
Reba let out a long sigh, “I wish… Can you dig deeper for me? I’m not asking you to do this for free. I’ll pay you a fair amount, I promise. Please?” N?velDrama.Org ? content.
Cassie sighed deeply, “Of course, I’ll do it if you ask me. Well, I actually wanted to do it for free, but since I’m unemployed now, I’ll dly ept your offer,” she said shyly.
“You know what? Just work for me! Will you?” Reba blurted out suddenly.
“What? Are you serious?” Cassie responded, shocked.
“Yes! Keep me updated on everything! I gotta go, Lily needs me!” Reba eximed as she heard Lily crying. She rushed to the crib and picked Lily up, not wanting Sean to suddenly appear in her room like he had before.
She brought Lily with her to the bed, cing her beside her and watching her adorable face as a wave of guilt hit her suddenly.
“I shouldn’t have rushed into marrying Sean,” she murmured, gently stroking Lily’s forehead.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated. She reached for it on the nightstand and frowned when she saw an unknown number calling. Hesitantly, she swiped the green button and put the phone to her ear.
“Becky? Is this you?”
Reba’s eyes widened in shock, she straightened up, gripping her phone tightly.
“Harvey?” she whispered, almost breathless.
“Are you okay?”
Reba swallowed hard, knowing she should say she was line, but instead, she just cried until her chest felt tight.
“Becky, is something wrong? Is Sean hurting you and Lily?” Harvey asked, his voice filled with concern.
Before Reba could say anything, the call abruptly ended. Reba put her phone. down and hugged her knees, crying silently. She truly didn’t know what to do; every step she took seemed to end in trouble.
The next morning.
She left the room holding Lily and found Sean making breakfast as usual.
“Morning.” Sean greeted, looking up when he saw Reba.
“Morning,” Reba replied stiffly. She ced Lily in the bouncer and went to the pantry to make coffee.
“Did Lily sleep wellst night?” Sean asked casually as if nothing had happened Yesterday.
Reba gripped her coffee cup tightly, feeling certain something was wrong with Sean “Yeah, she just woke up for milk,” she answered without turning her head.
A few secondster.
“Look, I’m sorry about yesterday.”
Reba looked up and saw Sean standing in front of her with a te of pancakes. She stared at Sean’s face and could see the guilt there, though she couldn’t tell if it was genuine or not.
“Me too.”
That’s all Reba could say. She smiled briefly and then refocused on her coffee cup.
Sean sighed deeply. “I know I overreacted, but I did it because I care so much about Lily. I couldn’t protect Bea before, so I don’t want the same thing to happen to Lily,” he said, trying hard to convince Reba.
I know.” Reba nodded and took her coffee cup to the living room where Lily was busy ying with her hands. Sean soon followed and sat on the sofa not far from her.

“Pancake?” he asked, pushing the te of pancakes towards Reba.
“Thanks, I’m not in the mood for pancakes: Reba pushed the te back to Sem, then lifted her coffee cup and sipped it slowly,
Suddenly, Sean mmed the table hard, making Lily cry and causing Reba to spill her coffee in surprise. “What’s wrong with you?” Reba hissed, jumping up and picking Lily up from the bouncer. She looked up and met Sean’s eyes, which suddenly seemed terrifying as if something had possessed him.
In the tense situation, the doorbell suddenly rang loudly. Both Reba and Sean turned towards the door, surprised as they weren’t expecting anyone.
Reba sighed in relief when Sean turned towards the door instead of continuing thei
argument.
“It’s okay baby, I’m sorry, Reba whispered, hugging Lily. She felt her intuition was right, something was definitely wrong with Sean.
“Becky!” Cassie called from the door, smiling widely at her while carrying two shopping bags. Reba frowned, wondering why Cassie suddenly appeared at her house.
I brought gifts from Becky Brushes for Lily!” Cassie eximed, cing the big shopping bag on the floor and winking at Reba as if signaling something.
Shortly after, Sean appeared from the door. “Becky, I’m going out to buy diapers for Lily,” he said, grabbing the car keys from the drawer.
Reba nodded stiffly.
Sean waved at Cassic, who also looked at him, then disappeared behind the door. Cassie hurried to the window and sighed in relief. “He left.”
Reba frowned,
“Cassie, what is it? Are you nning something?” she asked, cing Lily back in the bouncer, who had calmed down.

Cassie took a long breath, “Didn’t you see these dark circles? I stayed up all night to find valid evidence about the domestic violence rumors involving Sean and Maggie, she said, walking closer to Reba, who watched her tensely.

Cassie took her phone from her pocket, scrolled for a moment, then showed the screen. to Reba. “Look at this, isn’t this Maggie Parker? Have you ever seen her face? See? She reported the case to the police, and it made the local news in Boston, but somehow it just disappeared and was never heard of again.”
Reba felt her entire body go cold; on Cassie’s phone, she could see Maggie, bruised as if someone had just beaten her.
“Oh God…”
Cassie nodded, sighing deeply. “I know, it’s horrible. Um, Becky, aren’t you curious why the police didn’t pursue the case?”
Reba swallowed and nodded slowly.
Cassie scrolled her phone again, and then showed it to Reba. “Here, take a look! The sheriff who handled the case, he’s-”
“Thomas Parker, Sean’s uncle,” Reba choked out, her voice breaking, suddenly everything made perfect sense.
