Chapter 10
On the phone screen, a picture of Harvey and Alicia passionately kissing at a fine dining restaurant in New York spread wildly on the inte. Although they were not celebrities, Harvey was quite famous as a New York billionaire, and Alicia was a former model who had once walked the runway with Gigi Hadid.
“Third–party always wins: Harvey Specter chooses Alicia Fox. Where is his wife now?”
Reba wiped away the tears that were about to fall. “I bet Alicia will hold a press conference to defend herself and use this moment to make aeback in the modeling world,” she muttered bitterly.
“People nowadays are very savvy about the news. They surely know that you are the one who’s been hurt,” Nichs replied, taking his phone back from Reba’s hand.
Reba cleared her throat softly.

“Nic, just because I want to be alone doesn’t mean I’m still crying over my rtionship with Harvey. I just want to clear my mind. So can you leave me alone? No offense, you cane backter,” she said, pleading with her eyes.
After a few seconds of silence, Nichs nodded. “Don’t even think about turning off your phone and making me worry, okay?” he said, then raised his right hand and patted Reba’s head, making her wince awkwardly
“Are you sure you’ll be okay?”
“Nic,e on! I just broke my right leg, I’m notpletely paralyzed,” Reba replied desperately. Nichs grinned, “Alright! Just, please be careful!”
“I will.”
After Nichs disappeared behind the door, Reba took a deep breath. She knew she should be grateful that Nichs was there for her, but her body’s reaction said. otherwise. She wanted to be alone.
“Okay, Becky, you gotta pull yourself together!” she pped her cheek once, quite hard. She ordered an iced coffee and arge cheese muffin, then wheeled her chair closer to the window and started scrolling through her iPad.
She ordered cheap furniture online to furnish her tiny studio apartment and bought a

camera that almost drained her savings. All the items arrived just two hours after shepleted the payment. She wanted to do everything quickly because she didn’t want Nichs to do everything for her.
“Thanks,” she said, handing a tip to the courier who helped her arrange all the furniture. she had ordered.
“It looks better,” she murmured, looking around her tiny apartment. Suddenly, an idea. shed in her mind when her gaze stopped at the khaki two–seat sofa she had covered with a boho–patterned nket.
Carefully, she tried to move from her wheelchair to the sofa with the help of her normal left leg, and it turned out to be easier than she had imagined.
“Nichs is too worried. This is quite easy for me to do myself,” Reba said, patting the sofa proudly. Suddenly, she felt much better. Her situation wasn’t as bad as she had thought: She could definitely achieve her goals.
With more confidence, she turned on the camera and started recording a video of herself. She was a little surprised to find that she looked more beautiful than she had thought all this time. Her marriage to Harvey had destroyed her self–esteem because she was never loved. She had tried everything to make Harvey see her differently, but it had all been in vain.
Her hand continued scrolling through her iPad, looking for thetest trends. After getting some ideas for content for her newly created social media ount, she hurriedly ordered arge amount of skincare and makeup, thinking her savings would soon be gone. Property ? N?velDrama.Org.
The clock on her phone screen showed 8 PM. She was just about to cook instant noodles when her doorbell rang. She wheeled her chair to the door, annoyed that she couldn’t peek through the peephole,
“Hey!” Nichs shouted as the door opened wide.
Reba smiled, feeling happy, not because of his presence, but because of the Chinese food he was carrying.
“Wow! Are you a magician or a wizard?” Nichs eximed, looking around the room, which felt homier after being filled with furniture and boho–themed wall decorations.
Reba shrugged, “I was even thinking of casting a spell to heal my leg, but it turns out

my magic skills aren’t that advanced,” she replied, half–joking.

Nichs smiled broadly, not because Reba’s joke was funny, but because she finally managed tough, even if faintly.
“Let me set it up! I already bought the tableware!” Reba eximed, reaching for the food bag from Nichs’s hand, then wheeling her chair to the small cab near the sofa where she kept her four sets of tableware.
“You bought a camera? And lighting too?” Nichs murmured, frowning at the camera on the table. Reba didn’t respond, embarrassed to tell Nichs she wanted to be an influencer.
“Becky? Is there a reason why you bought this video recording equipment?” Nichs asked as he approached Reba and helped her set the tableware.
Reba took a deep breath, “Um, I can’t answer that right now,” she replied without looking Nichs in the eye.
“You’re not nning an online press conference or anything, are you? Becky, haven’t I told you to get Harvey and Alicia out of your head? They-”
“I never thought of doing that! Jeez! I mean, what’s the point for me now? People won’t believe the words of a wife who came from an orphanage, they’vebeled me a gold digger from the start,” Reba interrupted, pouring rice onto a te.
Nichs just stayed silent, waiting.
Reba took a deep breath, “I’m trying to be a digital content creator, people call it an influencer or something like that, I want to make myself famous,” she said, staring emptily at the paper bowl of Kung Pao Chicken.
Nichs was surprised, “What?”
Nichs’s tone sounded strange, annoyed Reba, “You sound like you hate the idea,” she remarked. Even though Nichs’s opinion wouldn’t affect her decision much, she was still curious about why Nichs always seemed unsupportive when she told him she wanted to appear in public.
“Well, I thought there were other jobs you might enjoy more. I mean, bing famous can be a bit ufortable, right? Isn’t it more pleasant to make your life more private now? For your own sake,” Nichs replied seriously.

Reba stared at Nichs, contemting whether to exin to him that she wanted to be famous so her voice could be heard, so she could get the justice she wanted, so she could know what Alicia did to make her pregnancy seem like it never happened. But what came out of her mouth was-
“I like being famous. I will have value, and I will definitely have money!”
She was quite surprised to see Nichs smiling broadly as if a heavy burden had just been lifted from his shoulders after hearing her answer, “Alright, if that’s your goal, then I will fully support you. Let’s eat!”
Reba winced, not understanding what was going on in Nichs’s mind. Could Nichs truly want the best for her, or did he have other motives?
