chapter 42
i get attacked by the nymphs for about 3 and a half hours before the others find the tree and climb up it, where ghost
and Lilith both use an aphrodisiac spell. i don''t get a break for 6 hours.
after i finally get up i leave the girls behind with the nymphs, who are still having some fun with each other. i head over
to the village, where i look for a specific devil. i find him behind the big house, where i walk up behind him.
"hey jack." asmodeus
"yo" Jackie
"you''re voice sounds different" asmodeus
when he says that he turns around and looks at me.
"you look different." asmodeus.
"never mind that, i have a serious question for you." Jackie
"what type of question?" asmodeus
"one a certain group of people doesn''t want getting known." Jackie
"i was wondering when you''d some ask. do you have a place where we won''t be overheard?" asmodeus
"yes." Jackie
10 minutes later we are standing in my vault with the door locked.
"if you steal anything i will personally hunt you down." Jackie
"i wouldn''t dare steal a weapon that has almost gained sentience. pulse they affects are terrifying, these weapons will
be the next generation of cursed tools, i would help you hunt down the thief just to keep these out of the hands of bad
people." asmodeus
"good, now lets get down to business. how did you become an immortal." Jackie
"i rejected godhood" asmodeus
the reason why the knowledge that comes from this is feared by the gods is that they don''t want any titans, the ''old'' gods, around. immortals when they rank up they become minor titans. titans have none of the bindings that come with
being a god, or the boosts that come with the bindings. by pure power level a minor/lesser/greater/major titan and god,
a god is stronger. but in certain circumstances gods lose the majority of their power, titans do not. it is believed that the
absolute ''god'' that made the world and everything in it is actually a titan. it is unknown how and why gods came into
being but they are run like a huge corporation where the world is the business, with everyone but the top, major gods,
working their asses off to manage it.
"it''s so simple, why hasn''t anyone tried it before?" Jackie
"i don''t know, it''s not that often that a person reaches immortal level. but as soon as they do a god is there to offer them
power. that and any ''born'' gods have what ever it is they do to them done at birth, so they never get a choice." asmodeus
"that makes sense." Jackie
"any other questions?" asmodeus
"why?" Jackie
"why what?" asmodeus
"why didn''t you want to become a god?" Jackie
"because after that siege where my wife died, i just wanted to die. i had thought my daughter to be dead and i watched
my wife and most of my friends and allies die. i didn''t want to live on, obviously i didn''t die because I''m here right now."

"i bet your close to becoming a minor titan now." Jackie
"if i had spent every moment of my time actively gathering power i would be a minor titan 300 years ago, but yes you are
right." asmodeus
"lets go then, i need to meet with one of my old instructors." Jackie
we leave my vault after i change my short swords out for a pair of gauntlets with spiked knuckles. we then go our
separate ways, with me heading over to the training Fields and asmodeus gos of to do whatever the hell he''s doing,

"yo, I''m here to meet with the new trainees, like i do every year." Jackie
"ah, jack, I''ve been waiting for you. you look a little different, oh yeah you recently became a shade." instructor
"so, where are the trainees?" Jackie
"they are currently running laps up and down the mountain. with the guardian keeping the creatures of the forest off of
them." instructor
"ah, how many laps are they up to?" Jackie
"30. some of the more promising trainees are almost finished." instructor
"how long till you let miss dryad release the creatures of the forest?" Jackie
"a month, and it still pisses me off how little respect you speak about the guardian with" instructor
(sorry if that sentence didn''t make sense, i don''t know how to say that better.)
"i have nothing but my up most respect for the goddess of this forest." Jackie
"yeah, yeah. anyway, the one I''m really pissed at is that damned phantom, he made a new king of the forest that just
loves to eat any one of us he can get his claws on. because of him the death rate for trainees has almost doubled."

"here they come." Jackie
about 5 of the 50 trainees make it up the mountain, with one running back down to finish his laps. the ones that
remained are 3 girls and one boy.
"this is Susan and Silic, identical twins, and the best of the current trainees. this is jack, the most powerful man i have
ever had the honor of training." instructor
"thats obviously a girl" Susan and Silic
"I''m a shade, i technically don''t have a gender." Jackie
"we haven''t started studying demon ecology yet, we are currently studying beasts" boy
"how great can she be, i am only 5 and am already the top of this group." Susan and Silic
"i started training when i was three years old, by the time i was your age i was running a hundred laps with all sorts of
creatures hunting me for a warm up. i trained my body every spare second i had, only stopping when i was physically
unable to move." Jackie
the girls look to the instructor for conformation, who nods in agreement. in response to this the girls open their eyes
wide in shock, it actually pretty creepy how they are perfectly mirroring each other.
"stop giving themselves ideas, their going to get themselves killed if they act like that" instructor
"i didn''t get myself killed." Jackie
"the only reason for that is because Johanna made sure you didn''t die every time you fainted, and these girls won''t be
able to do even that, they faint at exactly the same time in the same posses, its really creepy hoe they do that!"
instructor
"anyway, I''m going home. it''s getting pretty late." jack
"alright." instructor
honestly, i don''t care that its getting late, but i can see the girls running toward the village, and i really don''t want to be a
dress up doll again. i use blink, which gets me to the door of the big house. i go upstairs to my bed room and go to sleep.
