    Ste pouted and remained silent.


    rence adjusted the angle of the bed and gave Ste a pillow as a support for her back. He said


    stiffly, “What do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you.”


    “Anything will do.”


    rence said, “Stay put. Don’t move around. Ring the bell if you’re not feeling well.”


    Ste raised her head and stared at rence, “Sure.”


    Why was rence angry?


    Soon, rence walked out of the ward.


    Ste sighed and tried to look for her phone on the side table, but she couldn’t find it.


    Ste was still feeling weak, so she sat on the bed and waited for rence toe back.


    After a while, rence returned.


    Ste looked at the amount and portion of food rence brought back. She said, “I can’t finish all


    these.”


    rence replied in a cold tone, “You didn’t see me as a person, but I need to eat as well.”


    Ste was speechless.


    Was rence crazy?


    What did she do to offend him?


    Ste wanted to get out of bed, but rence stopped her, “Stay put.”


    rence was too domineering. Ste immediately got back on the bed.


    rence ced a bowl of porridge and a few in vegetables in front of Ste. Then, he sat back


    beside the side table.


    Ste was confused.


    She looked at the food in front of her, then looked at the food in front of rence, “This is what I’m


    eating?”


    rence looked calm, “You said ‘anything will do’.”


    “I did. I would eat these as well, but didn’t you get some other food as well?”


    rence replied slowly, “It’s mine.”


    Ste took a deep breath. She decided to let it go.


    Looking at the porridge and vegetables in front of her, she felt like her food was tasteless.


    On the other hand, the food rence was eating was her favourite spicy dish.


    rence must be doing this on purpose. He didn’t like to take spicy food. Why did he order all that for


    himself?


    Ste begged softly, “rence, can I have a bite?”

    “Not even half a bite.”


    Ste pouted, “Great. Go away then.”


    Ste left the unfinished porridge and vegetables aside andid on the bed again. She covered herself


    with a nket and tried to filter out the aroma of rence’s food.


    After a while, a doctor and a nurse came in to do a check-up for Ste. The doctor said it was nothing


    big and that Ste might be overstressed and experiencing anxiety, so she fainted after a shock. Ste


    only needed to rest up a few days, and she’ll recover.


    Ste asked, “When can I discharge from the hospital then?”


    “Um…”


    rence’s voice rose, “Half a month.”


    Ste was shocked, “I fainted. I didn’t break my leg. What do I need to stay in the hospital for so long?”


    The doctor coughed lightly, “Based on your condition, it wasn’t anything big, but you shouldn’t be


    overstressed. People and everything outside might affect your condition. So I would suggest you stay


    in the hospital for half a month. Wait until you’re recovered, then we’ll discharge you.”


    The doctor quickly continued before Ste had the chance to reject, “So, we’ll leave now. Ring the bell


    if you need anything.”


    Then, the doctor and the nurse quickly left the room.


    Ste didn’t even have the chance to voice out her opinion.


    After the door was closed, rence said, “You’ve heard what the doctor said. Now, go to sleep.”


    Ste looked at rence and said carefully, “The doctor was giving suggestion. I can ignore a


    suggestion.”


    rence raised his brows and pouted.


    Ste knew rence wouldn’t have anything nice to say with this look. Ste quickly pulled the nket


    over and closed her eyes, “Alright, I’ll sleep now. We’ll talkter.”


    rence didn’t reply to Ste.


    Ste was exhausted. She felt weak and tired, so she fell asleep quickly after closing her eyes.


    After a while, Ste felt like somebody hugged her from the back.


    Perhaps rence and Ste used to living together. Ste didn’t feel ufortable at all, even if they


    were in the hospital ward. Instead, she turned around and hid in rence’s arms like how she used to


    be.


    rence hugged Ste’s waist and rested his chin on Ste’s head. The coldness in his eyes slowly


    faded away.


    Ste never nned to tell rence what happened today.


    rence didn’t dare to imagine what could happen if he wasn’t there, and Ste fainted.


    rence became angry again when that idea came into his mind. Looking at Ste’s slumbered face,


    rence lowered his head and bit Ste’s lips and left a light mark on her lips.


    Ste felt a sharp pain. She waved her hand, hoping rence would leave her alone. However,


    rence returned to his previous position earlier than that and continued to hug Ste in his arms.


    It was better for Ste to stay in the hospital after what happened.


    It could avoid bad things from happening to Ste to the utmost extent.


    In the police station.


    It was already 11 o’clock at night after everything was done.


    Jeffrey was an escaped criminal who faked his death, and he should be serving his sentence by now.


    So, he got locked up right away after the police arrested him. He will only be brought to the court when


    there was new progress on the hidden-body case.


    Jeffrey was still cursing Channing when he got arrested by the police. He said Channing was his son,


    and Channing was never going to escape from him his entire life.


    Channing remained expressionless and silent the whole process.


    After walking out of the police station, Sherry said, “Channing, he is a crazy man, and all he said was


    bullshit. Don’t take any of his words seriously.”


    Channing was deep in thought. After hearing what Sherry said, he nodded and replied, “Alright.”


    Sherry wanted to continue consoling Channing, but she didn’t know what else to say.


    It was a non-effective consoling process.


    Luckily Daniel said something to Channing, “It’s gettingte. Let’s send you back to school.”


    Channing said, “Don’t bother. It’s closed.”


    “Then stay at my ce?”


    “Nah.”


    Sherry asked, “Then where are you staying tonight?”


    Channing replied, “Don’t worry about me. I have a ce to go.”


    “No, I have to get you to a safe ce before I leave, or else I didn’t know how to exin to your sister,”


    Sherry tried to guilt-trip Channing, “Furthermore, your sister is in the hospital right now. You wouldn’t


    want her to worry about you while she is in the hospital, am I right?”


    Channing frowned and remained silent after Sherry brought up Ste’s name.


    Daniel added, “Alright, you go and stay at my house for tonight. After all, I won’t be there tonight. No


    one would disturb you.”


    Sherry felt like something wasn’t right. She looked at Daniel.


    Sherry realized Daniel was looking at her as well.


    Sherry was speechless.


    She was jinxed.


    Was Daniel going to follow her home?


    Sherry ignored Daniel and told Channing, “You could stay in a hotel if you want.”


    Channing replied after a long pause, “I’m going to the hospital.”


    Sherry said, “rence should be staying with your sister right now. Aren’t you afraid that he would


    scold you?”


    Channing pouted, “I’m not going into the ward.”
