Chapter 904

    Chapter 904

Spectators gathered on the sidewalk, their murmurs floating in the air like a dubious chorus, none

showing a real intent to step in.

Brittany pulled over and got out to assess the situation.

A bystander warned her, “Don’t get involved. It’s none of your business.”

    Brittany ignored the advice.

Dialing 911, she then patiently waited for the ambnce to arrive. Following it to the hospital, she

watched as the elderlydy was rushed into the emergency room. Not knowing her identity, Brittany

fronted some cash for the stranger’s treatment and then left the medical center.

Back at Bay Community, Isaac had just wrapped up a meeting.

He was prepping dinner when she walked in. “Why are you sote?”

“Just got held up on the road.”

Brittany recounted her to Isaac. It wasn’t a heroplex; she simply couldn’t bear to see a life slip

away so needlessly. Every time she saw an old person in trouble, she thought of her grandmother. If

only someone had been there to lend a hand, her grandma might still be around.

Isaac, well aware of the kindness in Brittany’s bones, encouraged her, “You did good.”

At the Lte residence, Holden returned home to find Saskia waiting for him.

    “Holden, you’re back.”

“I heard the Joyners have agreed to call off the engagement?”

“Yes, Ophelia demanded a hefty sum,” Saskia frowned. “I didn’t expect her to be so mercenary. Vincent

made a small mistake, why is she being so heartless?”

Vincent’s future marriage prospects now seemed grim.

At Saskia’s words, Holden’s brow furrowed involuntarily. “Saskia, being unfaithful isn’t a small mistake.”

Setting aside Ophelia’s pride and unwillingness to settle for less, Vincent’s behavior was uneptable

    regardless.

“But Vincent has been with her for so long.”

“Which is all the more reason he should not marry Ophelia.”

Entering the kitchen and returning with a cup of coffee, Holden added, “Saskia, I know that you and

Vincent are close, but he’s got Lte blood, unlike us.”

    Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDra/ma.O(r)g!

Even if Vincentmitted the gravest of sins, he had the Lte family to fall back on. They were

different; they didn’t have the luxury of making mistakes.

Saskia bit her tongue. “I understand.”

“And stay out of Vincent’s business.”

She nodded obediently. “Mom mentioned Dad is arranging blind dates for you. Are you…”

    “It doesn’t matter to me.”

Holden was indifferent to marriage. Power and wealth were his true pursuits, not finding a life partner.

To Saskia, it seemed her brother only had eyes for money and power, a perception she found

distasteful. But they were all each other had, so she held her tongue.

The phone rang in Holden’s room-it was from the hospital.

“Mr. Lte, your grandmother has been admitted. Can youe over?”

Without hesitation, Holden rushed there as fast as he could.

Abigail, the elderlydy who had raised him and Saskia as her own, smiled weakly upon seeing him.

“Holden, I’m sorry for the trouble.”

“How did you end up here?”

They were orphans; their parents had never been known to them. Thankfully, their neighbor, a middle-

aged widow named Abigail, had taken them in, showing them endle kindness.

Chosen by the Ltes, Holden never forgot Abigail’s generosity and regarded her as his grandma.

Le treated them well, never skimping on money, but he rarely touched the money given by the

Lte family. From high school onward, he had taken every schrship he could, tutoring on the side

for extra cash. Apart from meal expenses, every penny went to Abigail.

As his career soared post-graduation and Abigail’s only son passed away, leaving her alone, Holden

moved her into his house and hired a caregiver for her.

He hadn’t expected her to venture out alone and nearlye to harm.

Abigail held Holden’s hand and said, “Holden, I’m sorry, I didn’t want to trouble you.”

“Abigail, just focus on recovering. I’ll handle the rest.”

After settling Abigail, Holden sought out the nurse to find out who had brought her in. The nurse

handed him a phone number, and he recognized it immediately-it was the owner of the car he’d hit!
