    He had been working tirelessly for the past few weeks, the stress apparent on his handsome face.


    Brittany approached him, setting down the thermos she had brought. She leaned in, reaching to


    smooth the furrow in his brow. As she extended her hand, the supposedly sleeping man opened his


    eyes, deep and mysterious. “What brings you here?”


    “You haven’t beening home, so I thought I’de see you.”


    Brittany did miss him.


    They had been busy with their own work for such a long time, and now that she had a breather, she


    wanted to spend some quality time with him.


    Isaac tightened his hold around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. “I’m sorry, I’ve been busy these


    past few days and haven’t been able to attend to you.”


    Brittany shook her head. “I know you’ve been working hard, and you’re doing great.”


    She could not help but feel a twinge of regret for the misunderstanding that caused Isaac to lose


    everything.


    “I’ll have some free time tonight. What would you like to eat?”


    Isaac still looked a bit haggard.


    Brittany stopped him. “I made you a stew. Have it, and then let’s go home to rest.”


    He had not been resting properly.
