Brittany paused, "There''s nothing between me and Eltham-"
She couldn''t have any romantic feelings for Eltham.
Isaac remained silent, diligently applying ointment to her wounds, then fetched a basin of warm water to wash her feet, before tucking her in with a nket. "I know," he said. Brittany, sensing his mood was off, instinctively grabbed his hand. "The Ltes have a hold over the royal family, and I don''t want to be engaged to Eltham."
Isaac sped her hand firmly, interlocking their fingers, his every touch radiating undeniable love.
"I know."
Brittany let out a sigh of relief. "I need some rest."
She was truly exhausted.
Isaac sat by the bed, "You sleep, I''ll stay with you."
Hearing this, Brittany felt a wave of reassurance wash over her, and she closed her eyes, drifting into a deep sleep.
While Brittany slept soundly, Isaac was wide awake, tormented by the thought of his wife being engaged to another man. After what seemed like an eternity, a knock on the door broke the silence.
"Bri, it''s gettingte. Shall I take you home?"
It was Eltham.
Isaac woke Brittany, "Bri, it''s time to go back."
Rubbing her eyes, still groggy, she leaned into his embrace, her arms wrapping around his neck: "Zakky, I miss you."
In an instant, Isaac, almost reflexively, pressed his lips fiercely against hers, as if wishing he could devour her whole. "Bri?"
Eltham, thinking Brittany was still asleep, continued knocking.Content ? copyrighted by N?velDrama.Org.
Reluctantly, Isaac let go, after a lingering kiss and straightening her dress. "You should head back."
Brittany, reluctant to leave, asked, "When will we see each other again?"
"Wait for me toe to you."
Isaac kissed her cheek, then leapt from the balcony.
Brittany, startled, rushed to the balcony, relieved to see Isaac safe.
Remembering Eltham was still outside, she wiped her mouth before opening the door.
"Bri, were you asleep?"
Eltham, seeing her sleepy, less guarded appearance, felt his heart soften significantly.
"Let me take you home."
The sore spot on her foot, treated with ointment, was less painful, but walking in stiletto heels was still ufortable.
Eltham noticed her difort and frowned, "Does your foot hurt?"
Brittany was about to deny it, but Eltham pulled her back into the room. Without minding, he knelt and helped her remove her shoes, his heart aching at the sight of her wound. "I''m sorry, I didn''t realize these shoes were so ufortable!"
Apart from Isaac, Brittany disliked anyone touching her feet and pulled away. "It''s okay, these shoes are beautiful."
Red-bottomed heels, famously gorgeous yet notoriously ufortable.
Thinking she was upset, Eltham immediately called his assistant to bring a pair of t shoes.
The assistant arrived promptly, and Brittany switched to the ts, following Eltham out.
As the dinner party wound down, most guests had left, save for a few close friends and family. Piper was among them.
Noticing Brittany''s change of footwear, she frowned. "Wasn''t Ms. Lte wearing heels earlier?"
"Those heels were too ufortable; Bri''s feet were all blistered."
Eltham, who had been preupied with the idea of beauty overfort, now felt a pang of regret at the mention.
