Imogen musted Felicia more than anyone else.
Felicia was slightly surprised by this, but there wasn’t time to dwell on it. At the rate Caleb was crying, the little one could go into shock if this continued.
Felicia carefully checked Caleb’s pulse. He was tiny, soft, and chubby, which made it difficult for most people to get an urate reading. But for Felicia, it wasn’t a problem.
Still, as she felt the pulse, her expression fraze for a moment. She immediately checked it again to make sure she wasn’t mistaken.
“How is it?” Imogen’s voice trembled slightly, betraying her growing anxiety as each second ticked by
Felicia’s heart skipped a beat. She nced at Stephan, who had been standing by her side the whole time. When Johanna appeared, it was Stephan who had signaled the guards to apprehend her
Feeling Felicia’s pane, Stephan gently squeezed her hand and reassured her, “It’s alright, Say whatever you need to say ”
Felicia didn’t hesitate. “It my diagnosis is correct, Caleb has been imnted with a venomous creature.”
“What?” Imogen almost passed out, stumbling backward. It was with the help of nearby staff and Stephan catching her in time that a fall was prevented.
“Are you sure?” Imogen’s face was pale as she steadied herself. She carried Caleb in one hand and grabbed Felicia with the other. “Are you absolutely certain?”
Felicia shook her head lightly. She had deliberately phrased it with some room for doubt, but in truth, she was certain. She only softened her words so that Imogen wouldn’t be </bpletely overwhelmed by the news
To Felicia’s surprise, Imogen disyed a strength she hadn’t anticipated. After just a few deep breaths mogen had regained herposure, her motherly instinct overriding her
“Is there a way to fix it? Can it be resolved?” Imogen asked.
Felicia hesitated
The venomous creature in Caleb’s body seemed identical to the one affecting her. There was no cure
Her silence spoke volumes.
Imogen’s arms trembled as she held her baby tighter.
What kind of person would do such a thing to a newborn baby?
Stephan ced a reassuring hand on Felicia’s shoulder, his touch steady and calming. Then, he turned to Imogen, whose eyes were red with unshed tears. He said, “Imogen, don’t panic just yet.”
Felicia, still deep in thought, suddenly remembered the mirror Johanna had left behind–the one with the blood–written name. Something about it didn’t sit right.
So, she asked, “Imogen, has anyone else had contact with Caleb?”
“Only those in the residence–atewhousekeepers and the nannies who take care of him. There’s also.” Imogen’s voice trailed off as her eyes widened with realization. Through gritted teeth, she spat, “Archie and Johanna!”
Even with Johanna’s sudden appearance and the ominous message she had left, none of them had immediately c
connected Caleb’s condition to her and Archie
The two of them were in this together. If Johanna had targeted Caleb, then Archie should have known. Even a beast wouldn’t harm its own offspring yet Archie didn’t stop Johanna from doing this to his son!
If it wasn’t Johanna but Archie himself who had done this, then his depravity was truly beyond imagination.
Imogen trembled with fury, her entire body shaking. “Those scumbags! Both of them! I shouldn’t have let that bastard die so easily. I should’ve made him suffer before killing
she thought back to the time after Archie’s “ident when she had shed so many tears i now, it made her sick.
Her genuine love and devotion toward him was aplete waste!
Howughable and foolish she had been.
for him, praying daily for a miracle to bring her beloved back safely. Looking back at it
Felicia frowned in thought Johanna’s sudden appearance–risking capture by the Russell family’s guards just to provoke them–had to have a deeper motive. Was she using Caleb as leverage?
