Pollution, war, and limited resources had finally destroyed nearly all of Earth, and mankind with it. In a final attempt to save humanity, Earth put the remaining people onto colony ships. A colony ship was basically a large spacecraft that was completely maintained and flown by machines and contained a few hundred cryochambers, small capsules designed to hold people in cryostasis for long periods of time.


    Eventually, one of these ships flew too close to a black hole. Despite the spacecraft''s attempts to escape, it was slowly sucked in. Some time later, it shot out of nothing towards a planet.
