Chapter 1: Tutorial?


    “Welcome to the amazing World of Syrion, Grae”


    “You have chosen to become a Beast Tamer, Congratulations!”


    “Beast Tamer – a profession that allows the user to tame any kind of beast depending on the


    level of the mastery”


    “Do you wish a tutorial?”


    These are the notifications popping up on my mind after I have resolved myself on choosing the


    profession that I have wanted to become. Apparently, beast tamers are those that tame legendary


    creatures like dragons, leviathan, behemoth etc. that was usually the book told me so [ Records of a


    Beast Tamer]. This book has told me that I will not regret choosing this profession and I will become the


    strongest in the whole world.


    I did not wish to become one but what charmed me on accepting this was my love for the idea


    of ‘creature as companions’ I know it sounds cringy but this was how I grow on our family of 7. I can


    describe my family as loving, caring, kind, helpful and all the good attributes that a family can have. We


    are not from a noble lineage but not too poor that we will end up stealing and doing bad stuff in order


    for us to live, we are somewhat in between living contently to what we have. My father works as a


    guard for a certain noble family, I know my father he was loyal and hardworking and that is why as a


    token of gratitude they let us situate on one of their lands. It was not big but it was not also small.


    ‘hmmm why did it welcome me in this world? I mean I was born here…’


    “I guess it is just going on formality to greet each aspiring adventurers, Yes!”


    After shrugging the thought I agreed to the offer and a blue screen pop up and floated in front


    of me containing a bunch of messages on the history of beast tamers, how to activate the skill in order


    for me to tame the targeted beast, the pros and cons everything I read all of it even it was lengthy with a


    wide eyes and heart full of expectations, you could say that I am one of the scholars who read a ton of


    books without missing minute details. I just love hearing the description of the profession I’m eager to


    acquire.


    “Grae! You seem to be in deep thought there, Mind telling me about it?”


    “I am just reading the tutorial about my PROFESSION Toby” With an interjection on the word

    “Oh my…party up with me because I know that profession is shitty and I think you need the help of


    a master like me!” He jokingly said to me. I just frowned on him.


    “I’m just joking you know me Grae hehehe” and he placed his left hand on my shoulders and


    pinch my cheeks and with my face still frowning on those words with my eyes squinting past on Toby.“Come on I’m just kidding Grae, I’m here because mother is looking for you” Grae seems to be


    mad at me, his eyes are like focusing on something with his eyebrows contracting “Grae?” I ask him if


    something is wrong about me or behind me so I thought he is seeing something so I instinctively turn my


    head. Exactly at the middle as I was turning my head..


    “Dodge!” he shouted while holding my whole body with both of his hands on my hips and push


    both our bodies to the ground resulting in dirtying my newly bought shirt. I did not get mad I felt that his


    warning was genuine and is something was trying to attack us from behind me.


    “Grae what’s happening?” I nervously asked him but to my surprise I saw him holding his


    stomach and giggling while he is lying on the ground.


    “hahahahahahaha I’m just…I’m jus…hehe I’m just kidding Toby phew…that was a good one…I


    knew you wanted me to show that newly bought shirt of yours, you did not come here because you feel


    like helping mother you just wanna show that right? Hahaha”


    “You..!!!” I angrily stared at him and I’m feeling like my whole face is reddening and the tip of


    my ears both rising in temperature. I immediately stand up wiping the dust carefully as to not worsen


    the already dirty shirt and exclaimed at him “Let’s go home mother is looking for you!”


    “You..?!” I muttered the word again as I saw him doing the same act now facing the woods, with


    squinting eyes and eyebrows contracting. This prankster is trying to deceive me again?!


    “You’re acting is not convincing me anymore once is enough for me to learn that world class


    acting of yours” I spoke at him with a defeated tone to make him believe that he got me and prank him


    back! But he did not budge and I saw his knees trembling and his hands grabbing the earth trying to get


    a hold of something and stand up. If I was not pranked earlier I might really believe him but I know it is


    part of his ‘acting’.


    “Grae!” annoyed that he did not listen to me I shouted at him, I think I may have disturbed his


    eardrum but anyways…


    “To..by we…we..should run”…


    I look at the direction he’s now staring and immediately all of hairs stood up, all of my genes


    screaming to preserve my life and to run from the ‘thing’ that is in front of us, but my knees gave up the


    strength like a toddler who lost its balance after trying to stand. We look at each other with our faces


    which color had also departed from its place…


    “It’s a Fenrir!"
