    Chapter 471

Mackenzie teased, “Are you doing it or not? If not, I’ll ask Wally and my family

    bodyguards to follow me.”

At that, she took out her phone and pretended to make a call.

As expected, Emmanuel put a hand on hers and said, “Then let me go with

you. I don’t trust others to do that.”

His sweet words put a smile on her face, but she immediately frowned to

    cover it.

After starting the car, he asked, “Isn’t the Lenoir family working with the

Verkades against the Quillen family’s business? Why is Tobias investing in

    your family’s business?”

At that, Mackenzie answered, “You don’t know General Lenoir. He might look

like a serious man, but he’s a yboy who had many wives.”

Emmanuel knew the fact about Adolph. udette once told him that her

mother was Adolph’s third wife, while Laura was his fourth wife. However, it

wasn’t a rare case to marry many women in the social circle of wealthy and

    influential figures.

Mackenzie continued, “Even though Tobias is a good–for–nothing, he’s the

richest son in the family because his mother came from a wealthy family in

Yeringham. She left a whole lot of wealth for him before she passed away. He

should be able to live afortable life with that money.”

“I see.” Emmanuel nodded. That exins why I never see the same woman

around Tobias for more than a week. He’s a yboy like his father, and his

mother’s legacy enables him to be a yboy.

“Let’s just wait and see what happens. Maybe he’s sincere about investing in

    the Terence Group.”

Mackenzie suspected Tobias‘ motives, but the Terence Group needed the

money. She had no choice but to meet him. However, she decided that she

would make him pay if it was a prank.

Two hourster, the Maserati stopped in front of a vi on the outskirts of

    Yeringham.

It was a huge vi, and the decorations exuded a romantic vibe. Mackenzie

suspected that this ce was where Tobias‘ secret lover stayed.

The two got out of the car and walked into the vi. An old man approached

them with a few bodyguards in tow.

“Mr. John!” Mackenzie, a usually distant woman, took the initiative to greet the

old man upon spotting him. She looked at him warily.

After all, the old man was a former personal bodyguard of Tobias‘ mother. He

was skillful, and it helped him to earn a reputation in Yeringham. Therefore,

    Mackenzie knew him.

“Ms. Quillen, Mr. Lenoir is expecting you. Please follow me.”

The old man, Felix John, treated Mackenzie with respect by bowing to her.

However, he ignored Emmanuel as if he didn’t see the younger man.

He had no idea about the rtionship between Mackenzie and Emmanuel, so

he assumed Emmanuel worked for her.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel paid no mind to Felix’s attitude. He followed them into

the vi, and his discovery shocked him.

A romantic candlelight dinner was prepared in the center of the room even

    though it was daytime.

What am I expecting? He’s a yboy! Emmanuel knew Tobias was up to

    something.

“Mr. Lenoir hopes to see Ms. Quillen alone. Anybody who doesn’t need to be

here should leave.” With that, Felix turned to Emmanuel.

“I’m not just anybody,” Emmanuel retorted. I’m here to protect her! I can’t let

    her out of my sight!

“If you’re not just anybody, I assume you’re Ms. Quillen’s husband?” Felix

mocked. Little did he know, he was right on point.

Since Emmanuel refused to budge, the men behind Felix immediately walked

    to stand behind Emmanuel.

“Ms. Quillen, you should go now if you’re not ready for this meeting.” Felix

didn’t order his men to act, but his tone was determined.

Emmanuel wanted to persuade Mackenzie to leave. After all, judging from

the environment and the request, anyone could tell that Tobias was trying to

    make a move on Mackenzie.

“Don’t worry about me, Emmanuel. You can wait outside.”

In the end, Mackenzie asked Emmanuel to leave.

Might as well stay and make the best of it since I’m here.

As the president of the Terence Group, Mackenzie had been dealing with

tough tasks for thepany. She wouldn’t give up that easily just because of

a little change in the event.
