Chapter 668 The Schemer
Chapter 668 The Schemer
Colleen had done such a good job in conveying her remorse that Skr had ended up ming herself
instead. She was so touched by her grandmother''s appearance that she deliriously attempted to justify
Colleen''s predicament by cing herself in thetter''s shoes and reasoning that her grandmother must
have had no other choice under the tyrannical bidding of her wealthy daughter-inw.
After all that sweet talk about missing me and not being there for me, turns out her rushing to Avery''s
defense at a moment''s notice is more than enough proof of where I stand.
Skr kept her head held high as mutters of her immaturity echoed around her.
Avery was still crying. Colleen patted her back through the thin material of her dress. “Hush now, little
princess,” she coaxed. “You won''t be pretty anymore with your eyes all puffy! Your sister was raised by
her other grandmother and was not educated properly. I''m sure she meant well despite not knowing
how to convey her emotions. You mustn''t me her! My heart will break if you keep crying.”
Colleen thinks that she can act all high and mighty over Grandma Meredith and her elementary school
education just because she was once a principal in a high school.
Skr felt deeply offended by that remark. “Watch how you speak about my grandmother,” she said,
ring up. “She has raised me well to think before jumping to conclusions, unlike some other people I
know. Too bad I didn''t know how to cry. If I did, I probably wouldn''t have been left for dead on the
streets.”
Colleen appeared scandalized. What a difficult child! I have already put aside our ill feelings and
reconciled with her. What more does she want? I did all of those for us to live together in harmony. Why
must she create such an ugly scene in front of outsiders and make us aughingstock? Avery is
different. She has always expressed her wish for her sister to live with us. I think she was right to
advise Skr. It will be difficult for her to marry in the future by being somebody''s mistress at such
a young age.
Colleen deduced that Avery must have said something for Skr''s own good that did not sit right with
Skr. As a result, sheshed out against Avery.
With a hand in his pocket, Thomas gazed at Skr as if chastising her wordlessly.
At a suddenmotion at the entrance, the crowd''s interest became piqued at the unusually grand
wee.
Thomas was the first one to scurry forward at Tobias'' appearance.
He was still adamant about returning to Quest Group. Just a while ago, he was depressed enough to
contemte suicide with the secondary intention to cause a ripple and draw Skr''s attention to his
plight.
After his n was met with failure, hemented about wasted efforts when Tobias'' appearance hinted
at the possibility of his fortunes picking up again.
Not intending for this opportunity to go to waste, Thomas was determined to speak to Tobias about
Quest Group.
He had not forgotten how Tobias saved Quest Group from bankruptcy and spared him the necessity of
dering it himself to avoid prison. However, there was a price to pay.
Just when Thomas thought that the worst had passed and that he would a chance to rise again, Tobias''
swift andplete restructuring of thepany to force his resignation took Thomaspletely by
surprise.
It was on that day that Thomas learned from Tobias that there was no such thing as a free lunch.
