Chapter 2121 Agreeing To Take Care Of Charles
"Aunt? Why are you here so early today?" Sheryl greeted Melissa as she found Melissa standing in
front of Shirley''s ward.
Melissa looked haggardly. It seemed like she had endured a sleepless night. She took a look at Shirley,
who was still fast asleep and gestured for Sheryl to be quiet. "Shh! Don''t wake her up."
"Aunt Melissa, you don''t look good. Didn''t you have any proper sleepst night?" Sheryl asked with
concern. She made haste to get up from her seat and approached Melissa to prevent Shirley''s sleep
from being disturbed.
Melissa took a moment or two to ovee her initial hesitation and decided to tell the truth to Sheryl.
"Sher,e to the balcony with me. I have something to tell you," Melissa said as she held Sheryl''s
hand and pulled her out of Shirley''s medical ward.
Sheryl was anxious at seeing Melissa be so unusually disturbed this morning.
She followed right after Melissa to the balcony. When she was about to ask Melissa what happened,
Melissa turned her head, and Sheryl could see that her eyes had gone red.
"Auntie, you..."
"Sher, Charles met with an identst night!" Melissa looked at Sheryl and spoke in a feeble voice.
Melissa''s words made Sheryl''s heart sink. She tried to deny the information she had just heard,
thinking she must have heard it wrong. She asked Melissa once again to re-confirm, "Aunt Melissa,
what did you just say?"
Melissa knew that Sheryl would not be able to ept the news so easily, so she repeated, "Charles
had a car identst night. Because it was toote, I didn''t call you."
"Car ident! Are you serious? How is he now? Is he okay? Where is he now?" Sheryl asked in a
trembling voice. In an instant, Sheryl''s face changed dramatically.
"He has been in aa after the surgery. But the doctor said that he was only in a temporarya,
and he is kept under observation in the ICU."
"How? How did it all happen? How could he have a car ident? Didn''t he go to see Vicky yesterday?"
Sheryl blurted out.
Until Sheryl had mentioned that, Melissa was not aware that Charles had gone to meet Vicky. The
more she thought about that malicious woman, the angrier she got.
"Sher, listen to me. Charles doesn''t like Vicky at all. It''s she who keeps bothering him. Yes! She must
have lied to Charlesst night and told him toe to see her. She has used such tricks on him many
times, but Charles is so softhearted, that..."
"He is not softhearted. He is doing all this because he has fallen in love with her," Sheryl couldn''t help
but retort.
Sheryl was caught in a dilemma at the moment. On the one hand, she was disturbed to learn about
Charles'' ident, and on the other hand, she was still not able to forgive Charles.
Melissa marked the resentment in Sheryl''s words but did not have words to exin the truth about
what exactly was going on between Charles and Vicky now. After a moment of silence, Melissa said in
a soft voice, "Sher, Charles identally hit Vicky with his car once. After the car ident, she lost her
memory. She didn''t know where she came from, and her only memory ever since she hase back
to her senses is that Charles was her husband."
"What?" Sheryl was left aghast. She was hearing this for the first time.
Melissa nodded. "Since then, Vicky has been pestering Charles and wouldn''t let him go. Out of sheer
guilt, Charles had decided to take care of Vicky until she gets back her memory. Hence, he has
tolerated her tantrums all the time. All because he considers himself to be responsible for her condition.
There is nothing more in his rtionship with Vicky."
She told Sheryl everything that Charles had told her. But she was not updated about Charles''
spections that Vicky had an ulterior motive for approaching him. Moreover, Vicky might have been
sent by Ferry to deal with him and his family. These were the things that Charles had not told Melissa.
As a result, Melissa''s words fell short to justify Charles'' innocence in Sheryl''s eyes.
After all, she knew Charles well. He was not the kind of person who would be ready to do anything for a
woman merely out of guilt. There were so many women around him that had tried to approach him and
had tried to win him over for his sympathy and love, but all of them had failed.

Deep in her heart, Sheryl could never quite believe that Charles really loved Vicky. After all, his
promises to her still lingered in her ears. Everything was real.
"Sher, you have to believe in Charles'' love for you. I always see it in his eyes. He loves you deeply.
Despite all the differences and long stretches of separation between you two, he has never stopped
loving you. You have to believe him," Melissa continued, trying to convince Sheryl.
Sheryl nodded. How could she even believe that Charles had an affair with another woman?
"Yes, Auntie, I know. Don''t worry. I''ll find it out myself."
"Sher, I want your help. Can you do me a favor?" Melissa asked with hope.
"What is it?" asked Sheryl.
Seeing that Sheryl had calmed down, Melissa hurried to say, "Charles is being watched in the intensive
care unit now. I really want to take care of him, but I can''t. I''m also worried if someone elsees to
look after him, the news might get leaked."
"Aunt Melissa, do you mean that we need to find a reliable person to take care of him?" Sheryl guessed
what Melissa meant, but she asked carefully.
Melissa couldn''t wait to reply. She shook her head and said, "Sher, I can''t trust anyone else. I think you
are the best person to look after Charles. Look, you and Charles are a couple, and only you are familiar
with him. He is now unconscious. I will be relived only if he is taken care of by the person who is his
closest."
Sheryl fell into silence. It was not that she didn''t want to take care of Charles, but what was her
rtionship with Charles?

be no one to take care of rk and Shirley? Don''t worry. Leave them at my home. I am their
grandmother. I will take good care of them."

agreed, "Okay, I promise you. I will take care of Charles as long as he is in thea."

Sheryl couldn''t helpughing and said, "Aunt Melissa, now you are ttering me."
"Not at all. I''m serious, Sher. I will make Charles leave that woman. Henceforth, I won''t allow any other
women to bully you. You''re the only daughter-inw I have in my life. No matter who she is, I won''t
ept any other woman as my daughter-inw."
"Aunt Melissa, don''t say that..." Sheryl was so touched by Melissa''s words. She had never thought that
Melissa and she could get along so well until now.
What she didn''t expect was that Melissa would take a stand for her.
