Chapter 2101 Take A Walk

    Chapter 2101 Take A Walk

Dinner was a happy event. After dessert, the two kids yed with each other much to everyone''s joy.

As Melissa watched them, she exchanged nces with Charles. Sighing, she said, "Look how happy

they are! Our house hasn''t been this noisy in a while."

"That''s true." Charles sighed, too. After that, he didn''t say anything anymore.

Melissa knew that her son still had problems of his own, so she just let him be. She waved her hand to

the kids and said, "rk, Shirley,e here."

"Grandma, what''s the matter?" Shirley looked adorable as she hurried to take her brother''s hand. They

walked toward Melissa and stood in front of her.

"Tell me. Are you happy now?" Melissa asked, lowering her head.

Shirley nodded with a grin. "I want toe here every day. I also want toe here with mom!"

"Shirley!" rk said, his tone almost reprimanding.

But Shirley didn''t understand rk. She just thought that she was very happy today, and she wanted to

share her happiness with her mother.

"Brother, what''s wrong? Don''t you want toe here with mom?" Shirley asked in confusion.

rk red at his sister but didn''t say anything.

Melissa knew that rk was more mature. She then nced at Charles.

Charles had difficulty expressing his mixed feelings. He didn''t think that rk would be so watchful as

to worry about him and Sheryl.

He knelt down and looked rk in the eye as he said, "rk, do you hate dad?"

rk shook his head. He couldn''t help but hold back his tears as he looked at his father.

"rk, I love you and your mother. I won''t leave you and your mother alone. But I have something

urgent to deal with... So I have to leave you for the time being. Don''t worry. I''ll make sure that we''ll all

be a family again soon. Okay?" Charles said, clearing his throat. He took a deep breath after he spoke.

rk just stared back at Charles and pressed his lips together, not saying a word.

"You''re still young. Maybe you have trouble understanding everything, but when you grow older, you''ll

understand everything. It''s important for you to live your life as happily as you can. Don''t worry about

me and your mother, okay?" Charles said, smiling. He then lifted his hand so he could pat rk on the

    head.

All of a sudden, rk asked, "Dad, do you promise you won''t ever leave me, Shirley, and mom?"

Charles lovingly looked back at rk and answered as seriously as he could, "I promise."

"Will you bring mom back?" rk asked again.

Charles stayed silent for a while. "For now, I can''t, but I will soon," Charles promised.

Suddenly, rk looked frustrated. He said, "Well... All right." He believed in Charles because he had

promised. All he could do now was to hold on to that.

"You''re a good boy." Charles was relieved as he lovingly rubbed rk''s head.

Charles was able to clear his head after this talk with rk. However, Shirley was suddenly pouting.

"Oh, no. It hurts... My stomach..." Shirley cried, rubbing her stomach.

Melissa was so frightened that she didn''t know what to do. Beads of sweat were streaming down from

Shirley''s forehead, which only scared Melissa more.

"Charles, look at Shirley. What''s wrong with her?" Melissa urgently said.

Charles hurried over to Shirley and picked her up. He put a palm on her forehead and found that she

    wasn''t running a fever.

rk was also worried about his sister. He ran to Shirley and took her hands as he asked, "How are

    you feeling now?"

"It hurts... Dad, I want to see mom," Shirley wailed. She closed her eyes in difort.

Charles looked at Melissa only to find her as panicked as he was and seemingly at a loss as to what to

    do.

"Hurry! Let''s go to the hospital!" Melissa suggested.

Charles paused for a while before lifting Shirley and rushing out of the house. "Mom, stay here and

watch rk. Call Sheryl right now."

"Okay. I will. Hurry! If you need anything else, please call me right away!" Melissa looked very pale as

she was quite worried about Shirley.

Charles nodded and left without hesitation. He carefully put Shirley on the car seat and made sure she

    wasfortable.

"Shirley, don''t worry. We''re going to hospital, and it won''t hurt anymore," Charles consoled as he

    caressed his daughter''s face.

Shirley kept shaking her head tearfully and wailing, "Dad, I want to see mom! Where''s mom? I want to

    see mom!"

Charles felt helpless as he didn''t have the time to wait for Sheryl. He said, "You''re a good girl. Mom''s

going toe, okay? But right now, we need to go to the hospital. We can meet mom at the hospital,

    okay?"

"Dad, are you sure mom''s going toe? It hurts so bad..." Shirley''s face turned pale, which only

    worried Charles more.

He nodded his head in response to Shirley.

Shirley then agreed to just meet Sheryl at the hospital.

Charles drove as fast as he could to the nearest hospital.

Meanwhile, Shirley and Damian had just finished their dinner. She was waiting for Melissa''s call so that

she could pick up the kids.

Sheryl didn''t know what to feel as she didn''t want to see Charles, and she wouldn''t dare to drop by the

Dream Garden without receiving the call first. Also, she didn''t want to destroy their dinner with the kids,

    as that would be impolite.

As Sheryl thought of this, she started to grow anxious.

Damian knew that Sheryl was very worried about her children, so he suggested, "It''s still not toote.

We can take a walk along the river. It''s very beautiful there."

Sheryl wasn''t really interested in this, but she didn''t have an excuse to refuse the offer, so she just

    nodded.

They walked along the river. At that moment, the streetmps were turned on. There were only a few

people there. They could feel the cool breeze.

Sheryl took a deep breath. She didn''t feel dizzy anymore.

She crossed her arms across her chest. Damian assumed Sheryl was feeling cold, so he attempted to

    take off his coat.

"Don''t take off your coat. I''m not cold. Really!" Sheryl said as soon as she realized what Damian was

    going to do.

Damian felt a bit upset at this, so he reluctantly put his coat back on again.

"Sher, have you been here before?" Damian asked.

Upon hearing this, Sheryl unconsciously smiled.

"What''s up? Why are you suddenly smiling?" Damian pressed.

Sheryl seemed to be recalling something as she grinned. "I used to always take a walk here. Back

then, there weren''t any fences yet, and that square over there wasn''t so spacious either..." Sheryl said

    lightly.

Damian was happy that Sheryl was telling him about this. He hadn''t talked to Sheryl like this in a while.
