Chapter 2059 I Am Sorry I Forgot That
Sheryl did not want to say another word to I. She simply rolled her eyes at I out of sheer disgust,
patted her on the arm, and said, "I, do you even know what you look like right now?"
"No. You tell me. What do I look like?" I said candidly, expecting a tteringpliment from Sheryl.
Without having much idea about Sheryl''s state of mind, she turned to look at Sheryl excitedly.
"You look like a bitch!" Sheryl said, narrowing her eyes. And the very next moment, Sheryl was running
with all her might to avoid being hit by I. After all, she had firsthand knowledge about the strength
and power of I''s manly hand.
By the time I came around, Sheryl was out of her reach as well as her sight, leaving I in the wind
all by herself.
But I was not someone to be messed with, and she instantly went into a sprint towards Sheryl''s
office.
As soon as I reached Sheryl''s office, she kicked the door open and barged in. Seeing I charging
aggressively like a rhino, Sheryl held up her arms as a gesture of surrender and said, "I am sorry."
Marking the sincerity in Sheryl''s voice, I let go off her intimidating stance. Yet she seemed to be
contemting something and remained silent for quite some time, which made Sheryl feel somewhat
awkward and uneasy. After a long moment of silence, I finally spoke, saying, "I will give you one
chance to make up for your mistake."
"Great! Please tell me! I will oblige you promptly! I promise!" Sheryl grabbed the opportunity to cease-
fire this dispute without further dy. As much as she knew her best friend; I was not the kind to let
go so easily. Hence, when she offered an alternative, Sheryl jumped at it.
"Okay. Just tell me what is going on between you and Damian? Is there anything between the two of
you?" Initially, I did not want to rush into this topic in this manner. She wanted to make her way into
Sheryl''s mind through a series of prating questions. Yet to her surprise, when Sheryl caved in at
this moment, even I found it difficult to let go of this opportunity to get the answer of the question that
had bugged her for quite some time now.
Sheryl was left aghast. She did not see thising at all. She immediately knew that she had been too
smart for her own good. However, now that it hade to this, she had no choice but to exin it to
I.
"Yesterday, after Damian dropped me at home, he immediately left for his hotel without much
dillydallying. I am telling you that nothing has happened between the two of us." Sheryl looked at I
with much frustration while cursing her at the bottom of the heart for acting like a professional
paparazzi from some small tabloid.
"Is that so?" I gazed at Sheryl with great disbelief in her eyes.
Sheryl gave her a shrug, indicating that there was no way that I could make her talk more about this.
"Do you not like him?" I pressed on with another question now that the cat was out of the bag. She
firmly believed that there was more to it.
"I believe that you already know my answer to this question." Sheryl had now reached the zenith of her
patience in discussing this topic with I. There have been countless asions when I had asked
this question of Sheryl. Yet Sheryl''s answer has been the same every time. At the bottom of her heart,
she did not like Damian. She was being nice to him only because she considered him as one of her
friends.
"Why not Sher? I think Damian is genuinely in love with you. Don''t you think that he deserves a
chance?" I looked at Sheryl seriously in the hope that she would reconsider her attitude towards
Damian. In I''s opinion, it was high time for Sheryl to move on from Charles.
Sheryl shook her head without any hesitation, "There is no chance for that, I. And you know that."
"But why? Is it because you still have feelings for Charles? I genuinely think that you should move on
now. This is for your own good!" I looked frustrated as she reasoned it out with Sheryl. Howe
this woman simply could not bring herself to get over her marriage, even after it is legally over?
The air between the two friends was getting charged up with every passing moment. Sheryl found
herself caught in a fix where she could neither take I''s probing anymore nor could she ask her to
stop. At that moment, someone knocked on the door to Sheryl''s office.
"Come in." Just a momentter, the door opened, and Phoebe came in. Sheryl heaved a sigh of relief
and looked at Phoebe as a savior. So, without any hesitation, Sheryl let her in so that she could get out
of this ufortable conversation.
As soon as Phoebe came in, Sheryl asked her, "Hi Phoebe, is it about the meeting that I need to
attend?"
"What..." Phoebe sensed that the air in this room was a little tensed. Sheryl''s face was unusually stern
at the moment. Phoebe applied her presence of mind and responded, "Yes, madam. There is a
meeting for you in about thirty minutes."
"Fine. Go get the conference room ready. I will be there shortly." After sending Phoebe out, Sheryl
shrugged at I in frustration. "Apparently there is a meeting that I need to attend now. Maybe we
should talkter?"
I fixed her eyes on Sheryl as she had a very strong intuition that Sheryl was lying. The way Phoebe
had barged in and notified her about the meeting seemed to be unconvincing. However, she decided to

let Sheryl off the hook. "Fine. Let''s do this some other time then."
Sheryl could not help but let out a breath of relief as she could finally escape I''s probing questions.
"But I am telling you that I do not agree with you regarding this issue. We will discuss this further after
the meeting!" saying that, I walked straight out of Sheryl''s office without giving Sheryl a chance for a
rebuttal.
Sheryl felt fragile after I left. She knew that I was concerned about her. But she was just not ready
for it at the moment.
A few moments after I left, Phoebe quietly entered Sheryl''s office once again.
"Sheryl, what just happened between you and I? Why did you lie to her about the meeting?" Phoebe
looked bewildered as she asked for an exnation from Sheryl.
Hearing Phoebe''s words, Sheryl immediately looked at the office''s door, fearing that I could
overhear her conversation with Phoebe.
She cautioned Phoebe to lower her voice and then replied to her in a secretive tone, "Can''t you see
that I was grilling me about my rtionship? What else could I do, other than making up an excuse?
Do you think she would have let the matter pass so easily?"
Phoebe nodded her head, indicating that she had gotten the point that Sheryl was trying to make.
This was the first time that Phoebe had seen Sheryl behaving like this, and she was genuinely amused
by her reaction.
"Sheryl, personally speaking, I find that Damian is quite nice. How about you just follow your heart and
give him a chance?" Phoebe urged Sheryl.
Now, Sheryl could not take this anymore. As if I''s badgering her all the time was not enough, even
Phoebe had to join in! There was so much of ''Sheryl-Damian'' going on already, thanks to I, that
every employee of the Cloud Advertising Company must be specting about something going on
between Sheryl and Damian for sure.
"What the hell are you talking about? Nothing is going on between the two of us. At least, you don''t
need to be like I!" Sheryl retorted out of frustration.
"Sheryl, both I and I mean the best for you. We know that you still have feelings for Charles, but
Damian is not too badpared to him. You should give him a chance. After all, it for your own good."
As opposed to I''s aggressive approach, which almost pushed Sheryl up the wall at times, Phoebe
spoke in a more rational manner without exerting force on her. Yet, both Phoebe and I had the same
purpose, and that was to see Sheryl giving a chance to Damian.
"This is enough for me! Damn! You sure know how to nag like a middle-aged woman. I have something
to do, so I have to leave now. Please help me close these files. Oh, one more thing, if Ies
looking for me, please cover for me and don''t tell her my whereabouts." After saying that, Sheryl just
walked out of her office without turning back for even once. It looked like she just wanted to run away
from there at any cost.
By the time I came to look for Sheryl, she had already left. I felt cheated to find that Sheryl was
nowhere to be seen.
"Phoebe, I see that you are pretty hassled by all these files. Did Sheryl put you up to this?" Not being
able to find Sheryl, I seemed to be venting out her anger in front of Phoebe as she looked at Phoebe
harshly with her hands on her hips.
Phoebe was caught in between Sheryl''s escapade and I''s anger. Needless to say, she was terrified
to be on the receiving end of I''s wrath as Sheryl was not there. She blinked her eyes innocently and
answered with many grievances, "I, you know that I report to Sheryl. Now that she has asked me to
do this, how could I ever refuse her?"
Phoebe lowered her head after replying to I. Even I felt that it was futile to push her as she could
sense how terrified Phoebe was. So she walked out of the Cloud Advertising Company out of
frustration.
I then called Sheryl several times, but Sheryl did not answer any of her calls. Finally, I threw her
phone on the ground out of anger.
"Damn you, Sheryl! You better pray that you will not run into me ever again! Because if I see you again,
I will make you pay!" I stomped on the ground to vent out her anger.
As Sheryl hurried back home after leaving the Cloud Advertising Company, she saw several iing
calls from I. Yet she determinedly disconnected the calls each time. As she arrived at her apartment,
she was unexpectedly greeted by Damian in the lobby area of her apartment building.
Even though their eyes met, and Sheryl noticed the passionate look in Damian''s eyes, at first, she
pretended that she had not seen him. She walked passed him, and she headed towards the elevator.
"Hey, Sher!" Damian had already caught Sheryl''s drift when he first saw her evading reaction, but he
just ignored all that and called her with joy and excitement.
"Hey, Damian, what are you doing here?" Even Sheryl realized that it was toote to avoid him and
pretended to see Damian just then.
"I am waiting for you! Do you remember that we are going to have lunch today?" Damian looked at
Sheryl, a little bit heartbroken and disappointed.
It suddenly came back to Sheryl that they had agreed to have lunch together, but she hadpletely
forgotten it.
"Oh! I am so sorry! It just slipped from my mind. You see, I now have other business that I need to
attend to at the moment." Sheryl looked at Damian apologetically, feeling guilty for keeping him waiting.
Damian marked Sheryl''s reluctance to have lunch with him, and he did not want to force it on her
either. So he decided to just let it pass by saying, "No problem. We will make up for that some other
time. Just let me know when you are free."
