Chapter 2039 Meeting Damian

    Chapter 2039 Meeting Damian

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Sheryl pressed. She thought that there must be something on

her face, so she rubbed her cheek with her palm in an attempt to wipe away whatever it was.

However, upon checking her hand, she found nothing. She couldn''t help but give Damian a perplexed

    look.

He rested his chin on his hand and said lovingly, "You''re so beautiful."

If somebody had heard the way he had said that and had seen the gentle and passionate way he

gazed at Sheryl, that person would have thought they were lovers.

Upon hearing the predictable joke, she rolled her eyes at him.

"Damian, has your time abroad driven you mad?" she teased. She knew that he was only fooling

    around.

"Of course not! I meant what I said. I was being sincere," Damian swore. He continued to gaze

    solemnly at her.

"Fine. Anyway, what''s your n for the future?" Sheryl asked. She looked down at the floor, hoping she

had seeded in changing the topic.

Damian, however, wasn''t going to give up that easily. He talked briefly about his job and then took out a

gift box from his pocket. He presented it to Sheryl and said, "Open it."

"What''s this?" she asked. Although she was a bit confused, she epted the box and carefully

    unwrapped it.

When she saw what was inside, she was surprised. ''Damian really knows how to please a woman, ''

    she thought.

It was a bottle of perfume. Sheryl had been dreaming of this perfume for the longest time. However, it

was a limited edition scent only sold abroad, and she never got the chance to buy one. Eventually, the

manufacturer had sold every single bottle. She was astonished that Damian had been able to get her

    one.

"How did you get this?" she asked, wide-eyed.

"I''ll spare no effort to get you whatever you like." Damian smiled softly and stared at her with loving

    eyes.

His gaze seemed to burn to the point that Sheryl could no longer face him. She looked away to hide

    her embarrassment.

It was quiet for a while, so Sheryl cleared her throat to break the silence. "I can''t tell you how much I

like this gift. Thank you so much! But you returned without letting me know, and I wasn''t able to get you

a gift. I promise I''ll remember to bring you something the next time we meet. Wee back, Damian!"

"That sounds good! What do you n on giving me?" Damian said yfully.

"Well, what do you want?" The two talked as intimately as if they had known each other for years.

"I want you..." Damian said slowly, never taking his eyes off of Sheryl.

She blinked with her mouth agape and didn''t know how to react.

It urred to her that Damian had been behaving strangely since they met only minutes ago. He would

say or do things that made her think he was maneuvering the conversation in a certain direction. She

didn''t know if he was doing this on purpose. It was also possible that she was no longer ustomed to

the way he talked after such a long time apart.

"I want you... I want you to buy me big, delicious meals," Damian finally finished.

Sheryl felt the urge to hit him after hearing what he had just said. The feeling that Damian was about to

confess his feelings right then and there was terrifying. She had considered the idea of running away if

he had finished his sentence the way she thought he would.

"Look at you! I was joking! We''re not strangers, so don''t worry about sending me a gift or something

like that. I''m not leaving. We can see each other as often as we want to from now on." Damian knew

that he shouldn''t rush rtionships. He had to take things slow. Otherwise, he would scare Sheryl

    away.

Before his return, he had learned that Sheryl and Charles had been unable to set aside their

differences. However, he didn''t know that they had finalized their divorce. He thought that they were

simply not on good terms and that they were now living separately.

He didn''t know the whole story, but he was sure about one thing: Charles had taken Sheryl for granted.

If Charles had really cared about her, why didn''t he try to get her back? Why was she still living alone,

    after so long?

Damian had also heard about Vicky, Charles'' mistress after Le.

Having learned everything that Charles had done, Damian decided to return home for Sheryl. That

unfaithful man didn''t deserve her. Damian believed he had now been given this once-in-a-lifetime

opportunity, and he would not let this pass. This time, he was going to win Sheryl''s heart.

"Really? What a surprise! I promise you that I''ll make your time here worthwhile!" Sheryl''s anxiety had

subsided, and she had let her guard down.

However, while she had assumed that this was the end of this conversation, Damian had other things

in mind. As they were enjoying their meals, Damian continued to throw hints along the way, making

ambiguous remarks from time to time.

Of course, Sheryl knew how this man felt about her. What she didn''t expect was that he would feel the

same way after such a long time had passed.

Since Damian hadn''t directly confessed, Sheryl didn''t feel that it was right to ask him about it or

immediately turn him down either. That would only embarrass both of them. She had no other choice

but to remain silent and blush the entire time.

Damian was sophisticated enough to know what she was thinking. In fact, he had been doing

everything on purpose. He liked watching her cheeks grow pink out of embarrassment. He wanted to

have this view forever. Sadly, he wasn''t sure if she was willing to give him that chance.

Meanwhile, Sheryl felt particrly ufortable. She was on pins and needles during the entire meal.

All she wanted now was for them to finish their food and leave as soon as possible.

Luckily, they hadn''t ordered too much. They finished eating not long after.

"How did you like this restaurant?" Sheryl asked. She gave Damian a sincere look.

"It''s pretty good. I''ve always liked your taste." Damian grinned. He was delighted with their meeting.

The truth was that it didn''t matter where they ate. As long as he was with Sheryl, he was happy.

    "Then let''s go," Sheryl suggested.

    "Okay."

They promptly made their way out of the restaurant. Sheryl had intended to send Damian home, but

then he spoke. "It''s still pretty early. How about we catch a movie?"

Sheryl wanted so badly to leave, but to avoid sounding rude, she nced at her watch and said

apologetically, "I''m sorry. I have to get back home and take care of my kids. I''ve been very busy

recently, and I haven''t spent enough time with them. They might be missing me at home now, or worse,

talking about how I''m not there for them."

No matter how sincere Sheryl looked, Damian knew that this was an excuse. She didn''t want to spend

more time with him, not because of the kids, but he didn''t mind. He was patient, and he had plenty of

    time.

"What a pity. Let''s watch a movie some other day then. Enjoy your time with your kids. I''ll visit them in

    the near future." He smiled.

Sheryl breathed a sigh of relief when Damian didn''t push. Knowing that he didn''t have his car with him

as he had just returned, she drove him to his hotel. They got there in no time.

"Sher, you''ve gotten thinner," he hesitantly remarked shortly after Sheryl stopped the car. She was

    stunned.

"What?" she mumbled absently. She stared at him as though she was waiting for an exnation.

After a while, Damian smiled. "Take care of yourself, or you''ll drive me crazy with worry. If that

happens, I''ll want to stay close to you all the time and protect you. Do you understand?"

Despite the smile, there was no mistaking it. Damian was dead serious. Sheryl awkwardly stared at

him. She thought hard about how to respond.

If he had been joking, she could easily make jokes in return, but right now, he was being sincere.

"Alright. I know. I''m good. Don''t worry about me. Go ahead and get some rest." Sheryl decided to say.

To lighten the mood, she jokingly pushed him toward the car door.

Damian didn''t insist. Instead, he reached out and gently brushed his hand through Sheryl''s hair.

Without another word, he got out of the car.
