Chapter 2026 Clark Has Gone Missing

Chapter 2026 rk Has Gone Missing

With a ferocious, almost animalistic look in his eyes, the man in the ck suit waved an angry finger at

Sheryl and I. He was like a bull, ready to ram them over.

    "Get out of my sight!"

I yelled, hands shaking. All she could see was red. If Sheryl hadn''t been beside her, she would''ve

already gone over and beaten the guy up.

Phoebe was the one who took over the situation, walking over to the man to ask him to leave. With a

threat to call security, he had no other choice but to follow her.

The suited man left, to everyone''s relief, and Sheryl turned to I. If looks could kill, I would''ve been

    ten feet under the ground.

I avoided her gaze, feeling deted by the whole incident. Forced to get her act together, she turned

to Phoebe. "They made the first move, okay? I was calm at first, but he said some things, and I just lost

my temper." She jerked her head. "If you don''t believe me, then ask Phoebe."

Sheryl had already advised I once to remain calm whenever she had encountered situations like

these. However, the man had gone a step too far, and if Sheryl hadn''t stopped her, she would''ve

crawled over the counter and given the guy a piece of her mind.

"Tell me what he said then," Sheryl demanded, confused by the entire event. I copsed back into

the couch, a hand rubbing her forehead.

"You tell her for me," I said to Phoebe, irritated.

"Ms. Xia, I don''t think I can." Phoebe hesitated. She had heard those words, but to say them right in

front of Sheryl...It wasn''t something she was prepared for. Phoebe cringed at the thought.

"Just tell me!" Sheryl curled her lips, staring her down.

One look at both their faces, Phoebe''s shoulders drooped, and she had no choice but to give the facts.

"Ms. Xia...It was about you. When the representatives of the Sess Company arrived, they started

talking about you and the services that ourpany has given them," she hesitated. "They may have

also brought up the rtionship between you and Mr. Lu." Phoebe avoided her gaze, suddenly taking

an interest in their carpeted floor. She said everything at such a slow pace, checking every word she

    had said.

"Phoebe''s not saying it right," I interjected. She finally stood. "They said that you and Charles have

already gotten divorced, and that meant thispany''s future was now close to nonexistent. They

were asses enough to actually tell me that they only chose ourpany for old times'' sake. I went too

far, but if you''d heard them, you''d understand where I''ming from."

After hearing her words, Sheryl felt like the weight on her shoulders had gotten heavier, with every

word feeling like a knife to her gut. Though a part of her wanted to deny it, she knew what they were

    saying was–to some extent–true.

But they still had absolutely no right to go that far in insulting the Cloud Advertising Company.

"Those assholes even suggested that if you''re willing to marry that asshat that spoke, you might even

have a chance to save yourself," I growled out. "As if! I''d pull his hair out before he''d even stand a

chance." There was rage dripping from her every word.

"That''s enough, I. You don''t have to be affected by their words," Sheryl said seriously. "Don''t you

know the rtionship between Charles and me?" Though Sheryl was aware that I was only telling

the truth for her own good, this wasn''t something to be angry over. These were simply trivial matters,

not worth lulling their time over.

"If someone walks up here and begins insulting me in front of you, would you take it? It''s not as easy as

you think it is, Sher!" I sat opposite her friend, crossing her legs.

Phoebe took that as a sign to leave the room, not wanting to be in the middle of their argument.

Sheryl paused, giving a resigned sigh. "The Sess Company is not a major prospect anyway," she

then conceded. "It makes no difference for us to partner with them any longer."

"I know that. Why do you think I bothered offending him?" I exined.

"Fine, I''ll let you off, but there shouldn''t be a next time. There''s really no need to stoop to their level,

I." Sheryl slowly talked her back to her senses.

"Fine, fine." I leaned back in her seat. The weight was lifted off her shoulders. "But you have to

promise not to take what they just said to heart, okay?"

"Don''t worry, I won''t." "I just think that man had gone too far and crossed the line!" As I recounted

the story, she clenched her fists.

Noticing that she was getting angry all over again, Sheryl interrupted. "It''s gettingte. How about I

treat you to lunch?" she suggested. "After that, I might be going to the amusement park with my

    children."

I smiled, the anger gone from her expression. With that, the two walked out of the office arm in arm.

They had lunch at a nearby restaurant. Sheryl was originally nning to leave the restaurant right after

she finished her meal. However, the moment she was about to go, her phone started ringing. Taking

one look at the Caller ID, she answered it almost immediately.

    "Aunt Melissa, what''s wrong?"

"I can''t find rk. Where are you?" Melissa said, her voice dripping with anxiety at the other end of the

    call.

"What?" Sheryl froze, feeling her strength, leaving her body. In fact, she almost dropped her phone,

and if it wasn''t for her quick movement, the phone would''ve been broken on the floor.

Sheryl sank back into her seat, pale as a ghost. I worriedly search for any signs in her face as to

    what was wrong.

"What is happening, Sher?" she called her attention.

"I''lle to the amusement park right away," Sheryl spoke into her phone before hanging up. She

hurriedly ced her phone back into the bag before running out of the restaurant.

I raced after her, knowing that something was up and that she needed her. Grabbing her car keys,

she waved them at her friend.

"Hop in my car, Sher." I moved to her car, starting the engine as she motioned for Sheryl to get in

    with her.

    Without hesitation, Sheryl hopped in.

"Amusement park," Sheryl demanded, her voice wobbling. "rk''s gone missing."

    "What?"

The two children were Sheryl''s lifeline, being the only ones who could make herugh and smile on a

bad day. If they were gone–I immediately stepped on the gas, removing the thought from her mind.

''There was no point in thinking of these things.''

Melissa was the one who was supposed to watch the kids, at least before Sheryl came. That''s what

I had inferred from their talk back in the restaurant. In the past, I had never really liked Melissa,

and with this happening, she couldn''t say she liked her anymore.

Half an hourter, they finally arrived at the amusement park, and Sheryl quickly jumped out of the car

and raced to the opening. It was a good thing there weren''t many people, and they found themselves

easily allowed to pass through the entrance.

"What the hell is going on, Aunt Melissa?" The words slipped out of her mouth before Sheryl could stop

them. She nced around the park hurriedly, hoping that her little boy would just pop out of the seats

    from thin air.

Melissa broke into tears, grasping Shirley''s hand close to her chest. She was trembling, not meeting

    her eyes.

"It''s my fault, Sheryl. Shirley wanted some ice cream...so I went to get it...but after that...rk was

gone. I''m so, so sorry." Melissa''s voice continually wobbled feeling the guilt eating her up inside. This

shouldn''t have happened under her watch. Of all the things...

She remembered begging Sheryl to spend time with her grandchildren before she had finally agreed for

her to take them to the amusement park. And now, she had to go and screw things up.

"The important thing is to find him!" Sheryl said frantically, wanting to be angry at Melissa, yet also

knowing that it wasn''t the woman''s fault either.

All four wandered around the amusement park, calling his name with the hopes that he''d rush back

towards them with open arms. However, an hour has passed, and no one had yet seen the boy.

Sheryl continued searching, her hands shaking as she did. If rk was gone–Tears threatened to run

down her cheeks at the thought. She wouldn''t know what to do without her child, and she couldn''t

imagine a world without him. ''Please, please let me find him, '' she thought.
