Chapter 1788 Indebted To Le.
"Oh, Dear, you have been with Charles for so long. Yet, you have not known him well enough! He has
not bought anything for a woman in so many years. So I would say it is a good start. Don''t think too
much. You need to do everything step by step. Do you understand?" Melissa looked at Le
reassuringly andforted her.
She was afraid that Le would overthink. Melissa grabbed her hand and patted the back of her palm
with sincerity in her eyes.
Le heaved a sigh, and a smile appeared on her lips. She felt relieved to hear Melissa''s reassuring
words. "Hmm, Aunt Melissa, I know. I bought a suit for Charles today."
She marked Le''s face glowing bright with a big smile as she mentioned Charles.
Indeed, women look most beautiful when they are in love.
Melissa had never seen Le smiling so happily. Her heart warmed to see how devoted Le was
towards her son. Once again, Melissa was assured that Sheryl could never match the depth of Le''s
love andmitment towards Charles.
"You have done a lot today, and there will be a pleasant surprise waiting for both of you tomorrow,"
Melissa said to Le,cently coughing.
Le looked at Melissa with sparkling eyes. She was curious and wondered what Melissa had prepared
for the next day. She hesitated for a while and then asked, "Aunt Melissa, what else have you
prepared?"
"It''s a secret." Melissa hushed her, gesturing for a whisper with her hands covering her mouth.
She smiled at Le and pretended to be mysterious.
Le smiled at her and stopped probing further.
Melissa hadn''t had her dinner, so Le apanied her downstairs to eat something.
To onlookers, they looked just like a mother and her daughter. The waitress in the restaurant saw that
Le was so nice to Melissa and couldn''t help sighing. "Mrs. Lu, is this your daughter?"
"No, she is not my daughter. She is my daughter-inw," Melissa replied as she nced at Le with
love and admiration in her eyes.
The waitress was startled to hear that. She had never thought that a daughter-inw could treat her
mother-inw so well. She couldn''t help but admire Le. She looked at Le repeatedly with awe.
The waitress could not stop admiring Le''s beauty, as well. Then she thought of Charles'' handsome
face. ''What a perfect match!'' she thought.
At being referred to as her daughter-inw by Melissa, Le blushed and said to her bashfully, "Aunt
Melissa, I am not..."
"You are the only daughter-inw whom I can ept," Melissa said to Le with a smile.
Since Melissa insisted, Le smiled and remained silent.
They finished dinner soon. In any case, it was Melissa who was eating, and Le had just apanied
her. She had already had her dinner earlier.
After that, Le walked Melissa to her room; before heading back to her own room.
After Le left, Melissa could not stay in her room for long. After hesitating for a while, she went out and
walked to Charles'' room.
Charles was talking with David on the phone and was getting updates about something that happened
in thepany when there was a knock on the door. He looked at the door and said to David, "I will
talk to youter."
"Okay, Mr. Lu,"
David said as the call was ended. Anyway, there was nothing special that had taken ce in the
following days.
After hanging up the phone, Charles went to open the door. He had thought it was Leing to see
him, but unexpectedly Melissa came in.
"Mom, what brings you here?" Charles asked Melissa, surprised. Initially, he became concerned,
thinking that something must be wrong with her. He looked at her from head to toe to confirm that she
was fine, and finally, he felt relieved to see that she was alright.
"Nothing. I just wanted to chat with you, so I came to see you," Melissa exined as she stepped into
Charles'' room.
She took a seat on the sofa and came straight to the point. "Charles, do you get along with Le?"
"Mom, we havee out this time because I wanted to spend some time with you, not her. Can you
please stop talking about her?" Charles seemed to be irked as he replied to Melissa with a frown.
Melissa was taken aback by Charles'' words. She sat straight as she held back what she was going to
say. She suddenly realized that it was too early to talk about it at the moment, lest it would lead to an

unfavorable result, making it more difficult for Le and Charles to get along with each other.
She changed her expression immediately and smiled. "I didn''t mean that. I just want to say that Le
has been taking good care of me these days, and you need to treat her better to express our gratitude
to her."
Since Charles wouldn''t fall in love with Le so easily, Melissa had no other choice but to make him feel
guilty.
Hearing Melissa''s words, the frown on Charles'' face slowly disappeared. He nodded in agreement with
her words.
Melissa paused for a while as she marked the changing expression on Charles'' face. "That''s all I
meant. I''m asking you to do anything else. I just don''t want to owe Le anything. You know you have
not spent much time with me. Had it not been for Le, I don''t know how I would have spent these past
few weeks..."
After this Melissa started to talk endlessly about what had happened between her and Le. Melissa''s
over-enthusiasm for Le annoyed Charles.
It was not that Charles was not aware of how caring Le was towards his mother. But he didn''t think it
was a reason enough for him to be in a rtionship with her. After confirming his decision, he
interrupted Melissa.
"Mother, you don''t need to say more. I know Le has taken good care of you, and I will return the
favor." Charles still looked unhappy as he spoke. His annoyance could not evade Melissa''s eyes.
"Charles, I am relieved to hear that. It''s already gettingte now. Go to bed. I am going back to my
room." Melissa slowly lifted herself from the sofa. She realized that it was pointless talking to Charles at
the moment. After all, Charles'' expression was self-exnatory. If she continued to speak, she would
only irritate Charles further.
"Okay. Mom. Good Night."
Charles held Melissa''s hands and helped her as she walked out of his room. After seeing that Melissa
returned to her room, he rxed and went back to his room.
As Charles walked inside his room, he was lost in thought for a while. Then he picked up his cell phone
and texted David to tell him about something to pay attention to in thepany. After that, he hit the
sack.
It was the most tiring day Charles had ever had in all his life. He just hoped that Melissa would recover
soon so that he didn''t have to face Le anymore.
For the sake of Melissa''s feelings, Charles couldn''t drive Le away. Even if he was seething in rage,
he couldn''t vent his anger. He had no other choice but to endure it.
In the next room, Le was just too excited to fall asleep. Her heart was overwhelmed with thoughts of
the time she had spent hanging out with Charles today.
She turned over in her bed, repeatedly. Every time Charles'' face appeared in front of her eyes, she
could not help breaking into a smile, and her heart started to beat faster.
She picked up the sapphire ne from the nightstand and looked at it again and again. It was
Charles'' first gift to her. And it was such an expensive one!
In her opinion, Charles had a thing for her.
At this thought, Le smiled shyly and checked the time. It waste, and she remembered the special
arrangement for the next day that Melissa mentioned. She didn''t want to be in low spirits in front of
Charles, so she forced herself to go to sleep.
