Chapter 1737 Mind Your Own Business

Charles had intended to join Le and Melissa for breakfast when he received a call from David.

"President, I think you bettere here. Right now." David didn''t even bother to greet Charles. He got

    straight to the point.

Charles had a dark look on his face when he replied, "Okay, I''m on my way."

After Charles ended the call, he headed upstairs, changed his clothes, and grabbed his car keys. He

    was preparing to leave.

"Charles, Le''sing with you," Melissa said to Charles as he walked to the door.

"I have to go now. I don''t have the time to wait for her now." Charles didn''t really want Le to go with

him, but he didn''t want to admit that to Melissa, so he just made up an excuse.

"She''s ready. She''s waiting for you outside." Melissa smiled at Charles.

Then she gestured toward the driveway.

Charles looked outside and saw that Le was already standing next to his car.

"Fine, Mom. I need to leave for work now, bye," Charles said coldly. Then they got into his car and

    drove away.

When Charles got the call from David, Le was curious as she tried to listen in on their conversation.

When she saw the look on Charles'' face, she immediately knew that something had happened, so she

cunningly got dressed quickly. If she hadn''t been quick, Charles would have just left her.

"Charles, is something wrong? You look so anxious," Le asked. Charles was driving very fast, and he

    looked gloomy.

"Mind your own business," Charles answered Le coldly without even looking at her.

Le was so embarrassed upon hearing this that her face turned a shade of beet red. She felt upset,

but she didn''t want Charles to know. She just shrugged it off and pretended nothing happened.

"Charles, is there anything I can help with regarding the Star Company project?"

"Nothing, just focus on your own work," Charles said rather icily, as he kept his eyes on the road.

Le grew silent and decided to stop trying to talk to Charles. She could tell Charles was in a bad

mood. If she just kept bugging him, he would just get annoyed at her.

Soon, they arrived at the Shining Company. Charles parked the car as Le waited for him by the

    elevator.

After Charles had parked his car, he walked towards the elevator and went to the office with Le.

While they were in the elevator, Le reminded Charles, "Charles, Aunt Melissa hasn''t been feeling

very welltely. If we don''t have much work to do, I think we should get home early, so we can have

dinner with her. We really should spend more time with her. The doctor said that it might help her

    health."

    "Okay, just remind me."

Charles had a lot on his te. He was so busy with everything that was going on in thepany that

he had just asked Le to take care of it. However, that still didn''t mean that Charles liked or epted

Le. He just felt that Le was better at taking care of Melissa than he was.

He knew it was selfish of him to prioritize his job over his mother. But, there was just so much going on

that he was finding it difficult to bnce his work and family life. At least with Le around, he didn''t

need to worry about Melissa as much.

Even then, Charles could tell that Le was only using that as an excuse to spend more time with him.

He just decided to ignore it.

Le always seemed to take it too far. When Charles agreed, she got visibly excited, and she

suggested, "Are you busy this afternoon? Why don''t we go shopping and buy Aunt Melissa a present?"

"I have work to do this afternoon. You can go by yourself,"

Charles said tly as he gave Le a cold nce. He purposely did that to remind her to not take it too

    far.

Le lowered her head. She was d that the only people in the elevator were her and Charles.

Otherwise, she would have been so embarrassed.

When Charles got to his floor, he headed straight to his office, where David was already waiting for

him. He stood up the moment he saw Charles, and he had an anxious look on his face.

    "What''s wrong?" Charles asked David.

"President Lu, there''s a problem with the Magic Technology Company''s project!" David said worriedly.

It made perfect sense that David was so worried and anxious.

The Shining Company only had two projects in the second half of this year: one from the Star Company

and the other from the Magic Technology Company. The bidding for the Magic Technology Company

was about to begin, and no one knew what was going to happen. However, it seemed as if something

had gone wrong with the Magic Technology Company, who had already signed a contract with the

    Shining Company.

"What happened?" Charles asked, his eyebrows furrowed together as he sat across David.

He didn''t actually care about the contract. He just wanted to know what happened.

"Answer my question, David," Charles added impatiently, for David was seemingly lost in his own

    thoughts.

"President Lu, even though we''ve already signed the contract with the Magic Technology Company…"

Then David quickly told Charles everything.

Charles'' face became more and more gloomy as he listened to David. Clearly, he was framed this time.

This had never happened before. Charles had been so distracted with Sheryl that he had fallen into this

    trap.

He was silent by the time David had finished speaking. David guessed that Charles was pissed, so he

just stood still and remained silent.

"I see. It''s just 100 million. I don''t care. At least we learned a lesson. I''m sure we can survive this."

Charles got even more annoyed when he thought of Sheryl. Then he gestured for David to leave.

David walked out and shut the door quietly.

"David, did something happen? Is thepany in trouble?" Since Charles had entered his office, Le

had just been staring at the door. She knew Charles rushed to the office because David called. So as

soon as she saw David leaving Charles''s office, she ran to him right away and anxiously asked him

    what was going on.

David furrowed his brows and shook off Le''s hand. Then he said, "Le, why don''t you go and ask

President Lu yourself if you want to know something?"

Le knew that David never liked her. But she didn''t expect that David would treat her like this when

she was just asking about work.

    "David, wait."

Le''s face turned dreary. Everyone in thepany knew that Charles was going through a divorce

from Sheryl and that Le was bound to marry Charles, so everyone was treating her with more

respect. The only exception was David.

    "What now, Le?"

David said, sounding annoyed. He turned to Le, and his brows were knitted together.
