Chapter 1725 Why Did She Lie

Chapter 1725 Why Did She Lie

Soon, Sheryl and the kids arrived at the kindergarten.

Charles was parked right next to the curb, so as soon as Sheryl''s car pulled over, he saw them right

away. Sheryl, however, didn''t notice him because she was too preupied with the kids.

Sheryl''s hands were full with one kid in each hand. They all headed towards the entrance of the school,

which Charles had a pretty good view of.

He couldn''t believe his eyes. His mouth was agape in disbelief.

Shirley wasn''t missing. Melissa was right! Sheryl had just made up that story.

Charles couldn''t get Melissa''s words out of his head, even though he didn''t want to believe that Sheryl

was as bad as Melissa was saying.

Charles couldn''t help but feel disappointed at Sheryl. He didn''t know that Sheryl had turned into this

kind of person, who''d do anything just to get what she wanted, even if that meant lying to people.

She was the one who asked for the divorce, but she also tried to make up stories about Le. Why

would she do that just to shame the woman who was also in love with Charles? ''Is she still the woman

    that I know and love?

Where''s the innocent Sheryl that I''ve always known to be honest and independent?'' Charles wondered.

Charles racked his brain on why he''d chosen to believe Sheryl before, even though she turned out to

    be lying.

Whose fault was it? What had happened to them?

Sheryl looked beautiful as usual, but to Charles, it didn''t seem that way. He felt a twinge of pain in his

chest as he watched her. He realized how stupid he was for falling for Sheryl when she''d just been

making a fool out of him all this time.

Furious now, it took Charles everything not get out of his car and confront Sheryl in front of the kids. He

was reasonable enough not to. He remained in his car instead.

Charles red at Sheryl, who had her back to him. He was upset, angry, and miserable. He knew that

the longer he stayed there, the more he wouldn''t be able to control his temper. He mmed his foot on

    the gas and sped off.

The car roared as it drove off. It caught the attention of some of the people on the street, including

    Sheryl.

The roaring of the engine was enough to let everyone know that the driver was pretty pissed off. She

frowned as she looked at the car.

She was surprised to find that it was Charles'' car.

She''d seen and been driven this car way too many times. She''d know it from anywhere.

    She scratched her head, confused.

''What''s Charles doing here at this time of the day?'' she wondered.

She was on her knees, saying goodbye to the kids when she casually nced at the car. Just as she

stood to get a better look, the car had already disappeared.

Sheryl was stunned. Charles obviously came here to see the kids, but if that was the case, why would

he leave before he even saw them? Did somethinge up that was more important than seeing the

    kids?

"Mom, what''s wrong?" rk asked curiously when he saw his mother was in a daze, looking

somewhere else. He tugged at her sleeve to get her attention.

"Um... rk, I''m fine." Sheryl smiled. She turned and softly caressed his head.

"Hi, rk and Shirley, good morning!" the teacher suddenly greeted them. It looked like she''d just sent

in another group of kids. She walked towards them and hugged both of them as if she was really d

    to see them.

"Miss Zhang, good morning," Sheryl responded politely. The kids also greeted her back.

They chatted for a while before the teacher, along with the kids, went inside, and Sheryl had to leave

    for work.

When Sheryl got in her car, she couldn''t get her mind off what she''d just seen. She was 100% sure that

it was Charles'' car. ''Was Charles driving the car too?'' she asked herself.

Sheryl recalled Melissa''s call fromst night. She couldn''t help but connect the two, and thus, became

worried about Charles. After hesitating for a while, she decided to call Charles.

She was surprised when Charles ignored her call.

Charles was fine, and he was safe, or his phone wouldn''t ring in the first ce. He was all right. He just

didn''t want to talk to her.

She felt desperate. She threw her phone on the seat and closed her eyes. She didn''t know what she

was thinking when she called Charles. She knew that Charles didn''t care about her and the kids

    anymore.

Sheryl felt so heartbroken that she couldn''t breathe. She opened her mouth wide so that she could

    inhale more air.

After she had gathered herself, she then headed to work.

Meanwhile, Charles wasn''t feeling any better, certainly no better than Sheryl did. When he left the

school, all he could think of was the fact that Sheryl had lied to him.

He was so caught up in his thoughts, that he didn''t notice that he''d already arrived at the Dream

    Garden.

Melissa and Le were so anxious as they had worried about Charles all night. Just as Melissa was

getting ready to call the police, Charles suddenly came in through the door.

"Charles, you''re finally back!" Melissa screamed, full of relief. She dashed towards him immediately,

    pulling him into an embrace.

"Mom, what''s up? Don''t I usually get home around this hour?" Charles asked in a cold voice as he

    gently pushed Melissa''s arms away.

Melissa''s eyes turned red. She eyed Charles from head to toe before she said, "Charles, you were

gone the entire night, and we couldn''t reach you. Don''t you know how worried I was?"

"I''m fine. Don''t worry about me, Mom. I want to go to my room and rest now," Charles said curtly.

He didn''t have any sleep the night before, so he was feeling really exhausted. He headed to his room

    right after he spoke.

Melissa could tell how tired Charles was. She just couldn''t help but worry about him. She sighed as she

watched him walk off. After he''d gone into his room, Melissa talked to Le.

"Le, where do you think Charles wasst night?" Melissa asked, feeling puzzled.

Le had no clue either. She pursed her lips and shook her head. "Aunt Melissa, I don''t know either.

But I can tell Charles must have had a terrible night," Le responded.

They exchanged nces and immediately fell silent. As they looked at Charles'' room and its closed

    door, they both felt helpless.

When Sheryl arrived at the office, she saw Aron saying goodbye to I. Wearing a sweet smile, I

waved goodbye to him. They were indeed in love. Sheryl couldn''t help but smile as she watched them.

"Sher, good morning! How are the kids? Are they all right?"

I asked as soon as she saw Sheryl. She strode to Sheryl and took her arm, ready to go to work with

    her.

Sheryl nodded and responded, "The kids are fine. What happened didn''t bother them too much. After

all, they''re just kids. You know, a good night''s sleep can erase everything."

"That''s good. How about this? Let''s go shopping and skip work today?" I suggested as she

expectantly looked at Sheryl. She was shaking her arm as if to urge her to say yes.
