Chapter 1687 Stopping At An Appropriate Moment
"I''m not worried about him. I just, just... He''s still the father of my children, so I still care about him
somehow. Well, that''s it. Okay, bye." Sheryl ended the call before Nick could even respond.
She knew that she almost gave herself away. She didn''t want Nick to worry, so she had no choice but
to lie to him.
Nick looked at his phone and shook his head. He couldn''t help but mutter, "Sher, I understand you, and
I know what you want to do."
After Sheryl had talked to Nick, she calmed down. She didn''t think of Charles again as she went back
to working.
In the Shining Company
"Did you say that Mr. Lu was in a bad mood at the meeting?" Le asked when she saw the secretary,
who had been there at the meeting, crying.
The secretary nodded as she wiped her tears away. She said in a low voice, "I spilled hot water on Mr.
Lu."
"Did he get hurt?" Le asked in a serious tone.
When Le saw her shake her head, she sighed in relief.
"That''s okay. You''re lucky that you didn''t get fired for that." Then Le looked at Charles'' office.
After a while, she decided to take Charles a cup of coffee.
Le thought she had some privileges because Melissa was loyal to her. So she just entered the office
without knocking.
"Charles, I brought you coffee," Le said as she ced the cup of coffee on the desk where he was
working.
"Did I allow you toe in?" Charles said, lifting his head to look at Le.
Le was embarrassed and cast a nce at Charles. Then she said, "Charles, I''m very worried about
you. That''s why I came over. You know, Aunt Melissa asked me to look after you. If something goes
wrong with you in thepany, Aunt Melissa will me me."
Le''s voice sounded sharp to Charles. He couldn''t help but frown.
When Le finished speaking, Charles said, "I''m okay. If my mom asks about me, just tell her I''m okay."
"Okay, Charles, don''t worry. I''llfort Aunt Melissa. You should take care of yourself. Drink this
coffee, okay? I''m going." Then she left.
Le knew what was going on. She knew that Charles was upset, so she left before he took it out on
her.
When Le had left, Charles couldn''t go back to work. Sheryl wanted a divorce, and the project was
running into some problems. Le and Melissa weren''t helping with his stress, either.
He stood in front of the ss window and looked at the skyscrapers, hoping everything would figure
itself out.
Time passed and soon it was time to get off from work. Le asked Charles to go home.
"I still have some work to do. You can go ahead," Charles answered nkly as he continued to work.
"Okay, I''m going. We''ll wait for you, so we can all have dinner together." Le left as soon as she
finished speaking. She closed the door before Charles answered. All content is ? N0velDrama.Org.
Le deliberately chose those words. When she spoke, she used a loud voice, so all could hear her
words. As she left Charles''s office, she found that she''d gotten the reaction she was hoping for.
She was very happy with herself when she saw the look of shock on everyone''s faces.
In the Dream Garden
"Aunt Melissa, I have good news for you." When Le arrived at the Dream Garden, she went to
Melissa with a big smile.
Melissa saw her big smile and figured something good must have happened. She asked anxiously,
"Why are you so happy? What''s up?"
Le pursed her lips and paused on purpose for a dramatic effect. Then she said, "Aunt Melissa, today
David gave Charles a letter from thewyer. I saw it. It was divorce papers."
"What?" Melissa was sitting on the sofa and upon hearing this, she sat up and looked at Le in
surprise.
"It was from Sheryl."
Le was very excited. Back in the office, she had to control herself, but here, she could freely show
how happy she was because she was sure Melissa would be celebrating with her.
"Are you serious? I thought Sheryl would wait a bit longer."
Melissa didn''t expect this. She had thought Sheryl would put it off, and she didn''t imagine that she
would ask for a divorce right away.
"Yes, Aunt Melissa, I''m sure. 100%!" Le looked at Melissa as she nodded vigorously.
They were so that delighted that they didn''t know what to do. Nancy heard Le from the kitchen. She
frowned to herself, hoping that Sheryl would still change her mind.
Charles didn''t return to the Dream Garden. Instead, he secretly went to the Cloud Advertising
Company.
Sheryl was just heading downstairs when Charles arrived in the lobby. He wanted so badly to hug her,
but he knew he had to control himself.
After all the problems which they had to deal with, nothing was the same anymore, and no one had
expected this to happen.
Even from behind, Sheryl looked lost and upset. Charles felt his heart twisting at the sight. He just
wanted to hold her in his arms, but she left the building and got into her car. Unseen, Charles followed
and got into his own car.
"Sheryl, can you please give me more time?" Charles muttered. When he saw Sheryl drive away, he
started his own engine, too.
He followed Sheryl until they finally reached the kindergarten.
When Charles saw Sheryl hug the children, he felt as if he couldn''t control himself anymore. Just as he
was about to approach them, his phone rang.
He picked up the phone with a frown and barked, "Speak!"
"Mr. Lu, I discovered a few things about the project. Do you have time to meet now?" David said
carefully because he heard the iciness in Charles'' tone.
"Wait for me at the office," Charles said quickly and hung up.
However, when he turned to look at Sheryl and the children again, they''d already left.
Charles felt lost, but for now, he had to return to the office for the project.
When he arrived at the office, David was already waiting there.
"Mr. Lu, thepany contending for the project is a small one. They deliberately lowered their price so
that they could go against us." David wasted no time. As soon as he saw Charles, he blurted out what
he knew.
