Chapter 1677 There Was No Way Out
As soon as Le arrived at the hospital, she went straight to Charles'' ward.
"Charles, Nancy got up very early and put lots of effort into preparing this. Would you please try some?"

Le looked at Charles lovingly. She had been afraid that Charles would give her the cold shoulder, so
she had decided to mention Nancy.
Charles looked at the tes in Le''s hands. It looked appetizing, and he could tell it was indeed
cooked by Nancy. But he really didn''t have any appetite.
Charles was up all night thinking about Sheryl, her affair with Lewis, and why she would hurt Melissa.
The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became. Tossing and turning, it had been a
restless night. When he got up this morning, he''d lost all his appetite.
"I''m not hungry. Just put them down." Furrowing his brows, Charles looked at Le apprehensively.
Scared by Charles'' sharp gaze, Le followed him and put down the dish on the table. Lowering her
head, she was like a child who had done something wrong, afraid that her parents would punish her,
which irritated Charles even more.
Pointing his finger at the door, Charles said coldly, "Can you leave me alone?"
Le was smart enough to read between the lines. Charles was asking her to leave. But all she wanted
was to stay with him. Thinking fast of an excuse, she replied, "Aunt Melissa is awake too. Do you want
to pay her a visit? I can walk you there."
It didn''t matter if Charles was cold to her. As long as she could stay beside him, Le was satisfied.
Charles squinted. Thinking about Le''s offer for a while and Melissa''s condition, he then nodded in
agreement.
Le''s anxiety and worry were reced by a smile. She burst intoughter and smiled at Charles.
As Charles was getting out of his bed, Le was supposed to support him. But then she slipped and
almost fell onto the ground.
Out of instinct, Charles grabbed her arm immediately. Losing her bnce, Le fell into Charles'' arms.
Unluckily, Sheryl had just arrived in the ward to visit Charles. Cracking the door open, the view of Le
in Charles'' arms weed her, and Charles didn''t seem to refuse it. He was holding Le.
Sheryl had wracked her brain the whole night, wondering what she could do to improve the situation.
She knew that she still loved Charles. But what about Charles? He was flirting with Le. Sheryl felt like
an idiot. While she was worried about their marriage and trying her best to save it, Charles didn''t seem
to give a damn. Clearly, he was having the time of his life.
The sight of Le lying in Charles'' arms totally blew Sheryl''s mind. God knew how much she wanted to
p Le.
The scene was like a trigger. She thought about the night Le and Charles had spent together. It was
like opening Pandora''s box. All the painful memories shed back to haunt Sheryl, anguishing her.
Pushing the door open, she red at them.
Both Charles and Le heard the sound. Surprised, Charles was the first one to react, immediately
pushing Le away.
Although Le was reluctant to part with Charles, she had no choice. She managed to keep her
bnce and stood still.
Lifting his head, Charles saw Sheryl''s gloomy face. He opened his mouth, trying to say something to
exin. But Sheryl just ignored him, not giving him any chance.
Walking towards Charles, Sheryl handed him the paperwork and said coldly, "Let''s get a divorce."
Charles was dumbfounded. He hadn''t expected Sheryl to bring this up again.
Meanwhile, Le was on cloud nine when she heard Sheryl''s demand. It was finally happening! Le
could finally marry Charles.
"I won''t take anything from you. Not your money, yourpany, nothing. I just want rk and Shirley.
Just sign on the agreement," Sheryl said indifferently and looked away, ignoring the surprised look on
Charles'' face.
Noticing the sorrow in Charles'' eyes, Sheryl felt hurt too. And yet, she still asked him to sign on the
agreement, which was thest thing she had wanted to say. Sheryl''s hands were tied. Even though she
didn''t want to hurt Charles'' feelings, she had no choice.
Besides, it seemed that Charles was having a good time with Le. Should Sheryl just step away and
leave Charles and Le alone?
"I don''t agree. The children have to stay with me!" After a long moment of silence, Charles answered in
a low voice, angering Sheryl further.
It wasn''t the first time that Sheryl had brought up divorce. But it hadn''t made any progress because of
the children. It seemed that they would get stuck again because of the same problem.
Sheryl knew that she couldn''t prolong this anymore. "Do you really think that is a good idea? Do you
want our kids to be raised by a step-mother like her?" Sheryl asked, pointing a finger at Le.
"What do you mean a step-mother like me?" Le immediately retorted.
"Shut up!" Charles yelled at Le.
Scared, Le immediately kept her mouth shut, not daring to utter another word.
"And do you think I will let our kids live with a man like Lewis?" Charles lowered his voice as he
challenged Sheryl. He tried his best to keep his temper. He didn''t want to act on impulse and make a
decision he would regret for the rest of his life.
Sheryl hadn''t expected that Charles would involve Lewis in their divorce. Shaking her head, she replied
bitterly, "Do you think Lewis has something to do with our divorce?"
"Doesn''t he?" Charles pressed on, staring at Sheryl.
Sheryl knew that she was the one who proposed a divorce since she was running out of options. Ferry
already gave her an ultimatum. She had to do it. Besides, after what she saw just now, she knew that
her marriage with Charles hade to an end, as much as she hated to admit it.
Still, Sheryl had a little faith left in Charles. She was hoping that Charles would ask her to change her
mind and stay. But he didn''t say anything like that. Instead, he implicitly med Sheryl for cheating on
him, letting her down.
Sheryl now realized that she wasn''t the only one who wanted a divorce.
Suddenly, she felt that she had figured everything out. Holding back the tears that were now filling her
eyes, she managed to smile at Charles. She just stared at him, speechlessly.
Charles stared back, both angry and frustrated at the same time.
He wanted to ask Sheryl to stay. But when he thought about those pictures and videos and the snarky
Sheryl wanted a divorce so badly was that she wanted to be with Lewis.
The ward fell into a deathly silence, and it became awkward. The three of them stood in a triangle,
looking at each other, and yet no one was saying anything.
After a few moments, Sheryl took a deep breath before she opened her mouth and said the cruelest
thing ever to Charles, "Charles, if you don''t want a divorce, then fine. But I can''t guarantee you what I
will do to your Mom in the future. Maybe I will push her to the ground again, and abuse her until you
agree to divorce me. Is that what you want?"
Sheryl knew that she needed to say something to get on Charles'' nerve so that she could force him to
sign the divorce agreement.
Right now, this was the only way Sheryl could think of.
She needed to get on Charles'' nerve, giving him no way out.
