Chapter 1667 The Calm After A Storm
After a pause, Charles noticed how terrified Le was, so he said in a soft voice, "Of course, if you

behave yourself, nobody would intentionally make things difficult for you."
"I see, Charles. Don''t worry. I''ll work hard and won''t be a bother to you anymore from now on." Le
turned around and smiled shyly at Charles, as if she didn''t hear what he''d just said.
Charles remained silent, and then Le walked out of the ward.
He really hadn''t wanted to say that, but he realized he had no choice as he thought of Melissa in the
ward next door.
Melissa was still sick. If Charles asked Le to leave now, Melissa would definitely fight him on it. He
didn''t want that to happen, so he decided to give her a chance. After all, Le wasn''t doing anything
wrong yet.
Charles had called a private detective just now. He wanted to know what had really happened in the
past few days, and he wouldn''t let anybody else control him.
He just wanted to know the truth.
As Le left Charles''s ward, she took a deep breath. She thought, ''Somebody must have told on me to
Charles. Why else would he threaten me?''
Le was furious. She decided that once she found out who that person was, she''d never forgive
whoever it was.
She already had a pretty good guess in mind. Most of the people who worked in Shining Company
were pretty much loyal to Charles. But except for David, she couldn''t think of anybody else who would
dislike her.
Le angrily headed to Dream Garden.
At the gate of the hospital
Sheryl had just returned, and she had some food with her. She saw Le was just about to leave. As
she recalled Charles''s strange behavior that day, she felt upset and blocked Le from leaving.
They looked at each other and didn''t say anything.
Le spoke before Sheryl could. Hercent face was a far cry from the utter displeasure on
Sheryl''s face.
"Are you and Charles having problems?" Le had both of her hands over her chest and was looking at
Sheryl with feigned affront.
Sheryl really wanted to fight with Le, but she decided against it because she didn''t want to stoop to
Le''s level. She chuckled, and then said, "I don''t need an outsidermenting on my rtionship
with my husband."
"Sheryl, why don''t you just enjoy being the wife of Shining Company''s CEO while itsts? You won''t
keep this position for long. Charles may be your husband now, but who knows what''s going to happen
in the future?" The disdain in Le''s eyes was evident.
Sheryl chortled upon hearing this. She couldn''t believe the lengths that Le would go to. She was so
desperate, and it was amazing how highly Le thought of herself when she was just nothing but a
home-wrecker.
"Le, I have to admire your self-confidence. Wow! It just never runs out, does it? Charles hates you.
Where do you get the confidence to believe that he''s going to divorce me and marry you? Are you
mentally sick or something?" Sheryl threw Le a sharp look then startedughing.
The look on Le''s face shifted.
"Well, I don''t have more time to waste talking with you. Charles is waiting for me to bring his dinner."
After that, Sheryl turned around and entered the hospital.
Le had wanted to get on Sheryl''s nerves, but she was surprised to find that Sheryl remained calm
and didn''t seem to mind her at all. Sheforted herself with the fact that Sheryl was probably faking
it, and even if she was unhappy, she wouldn''t show it.
This instantly put Le in a better mood. She nced at the hospital and mumbled, "Sheryl, I want to
be there when you finally break down."
Le finally returned to Dream Garden.
Meanwhile, Sheryl stood in the corridor of the hospital and remained unmoved for a considerably long
time.
"Sher..." When Cassie had just finished taking care of thest patient and was preparing to leave, she
saw Sheryl standing at the entrance of the hospital, not moving.
"Hey, Cassie." Sheryl nced at Cassie, in embarrassment.
"Sher, what''s wrong with you?" Cassie approached Sheryl.
Sheryl smiled and then answered, "I''m fine. I just came back. I bought food for Charles. Are you off
duty?"
"Yeah, I''m going to watch a movie with Nick." Cassie looked happy.
They said that a woman who was in love was at her most beautiful. Upon looking at Cassie, Sheryl
knew this to be true. She smiled as she saw the look on Cassie''s face—Cassie seemed so happy.
"Go ahead. I have to go upstairs." Then Sheryl patted Cassie''s shoulder and walked to Charles'' ward.
When Sheryl reached Charles'' room, she hesitated as she again recalled the look on his face. She
decided to shrug it off as she came in.
"Charles, have something to eat." Sheryl pretended not to care about the past and looked at Charles.
Then she put the food on the table in front of him.
Charles nced at Sheryl and then looked at the food which she had bought.
Sheryl knew Charles the best. All the food she had bought was his favorite. He instinctively grinned.
Since he had already hired a private detective to find out the truth once and for all, he couldn''t yet
confirm whether Sheryl really did do what he had been told, so he convinced himself that he shouldn''t
be treating Sheryl like this for now.
"Let''s eat together." Charles patted the seat beside him as he asked Sheryl to sit down.
Sheryl didn''t expect to find Charles this way. She looked at him in disbelief.
"What? Are you still mad at me because of how I acted?" Charles looked at Sheryl, with a smile.
Sheryl shook her head vigorously. She was finally getting what she wanted, which was to be with
Charles. A little fight was nothing.
"No. I... I just didn''t know what was wrong with you." Sheryl didn''t want to lie to Charles, so she said
what she really thought.
"It''s nothing. I just don''t like seeing that you can''t get along with my mother." Charles held Sheryl''s
hand.
Sheryl was worried, and she didn''t know how to exin it to Charles, but surprisingly, it seemed as if he
was going to let it go. This must be the calm after the storm.
"Hmm, don''t worry. You''re here. I wouldn''t ever treat your mother badly." Sheryl knew that she and
Melissa truly didn''t like each other, but they didn''t bear too much of a grudge. This was their problem,
and they needed to solve it. Sheryl believed that she could.
