Chapter 1634 Let’s Wait And See

Nancy nursed a grudge against Le. In Nancy''s eyes, Le was too arrogant. Le never cared about

what a servant like Nancy would think about her. She just thought Nancy would agree with how the

situation had turned and follow her orders. Much to her resentment, she didn''t get what she had

expected from Nancy. Instead, Nancy showedplete indifference to Le, ignoring all her demands.

Despite the anger that flowered in Le''s chest, she swallowed it and managed to stay calm. She told

herself not to fuss about Nancy''s rudeness. Then, she went to the kitchen to make food for herself.

After eating, she then returned to her bedroom.

Nancy finished her daily gardening work before she went into the house and passed by Le''s room.

She was annoyed that Le still hadn''t left Dream Garden. In a low but angry voice, she grumbled,

"How much longer does she intend to stay here? I just hope Sheryl and the kids cane back as

    soon as possible."

Nancy missed them so much. Even though a servant, Nancy had been treated like a family member by

Sheryl; besides, she enjoyed taking care of the kids. With them gone, Nancy felt like the Dream Garden

    was no longer her home.

Back in the hospital, things were looking up.

Cassie had fully recovered from her longa, and she could even act normal enough to continue with

her duties. Having been away from her job for so long, she kind of missed the role she yed as a

nurse, and of course her uniform.

While her mind kept spinning, she shook her head as the downside of her job struck her. She

wondered whether she suffered masochism because her job had always taken too much time and

energy from her. She remembered how exhausted she was every day she got off duty. She had missed

the job so much, but the downside hit her again very quickly.

"Cassie, your boyfriend has arrived. So, you are going out on a date tonight? You should go now. Let

me take it from here, and I''ll change that infusion for you!" Cora beamed and took the infusion bottle

    out of Cassie''s hand.

Cassie was a little bashful. She heard the trace of teasing from Cora''s tone, so she pursed her lips and

gave Cora a gentle punch, to tease her back yfully.

"Well, thanks, Cora!" Cassie hurried off and ran all the way to the gate to meet Nick.

Nick had intended to get out of his car and wait for Cassie in her office, but after a second thought, he

gave up that idea and waited at the entrance. He didn''t want to distract Cassie, nor mess up her

concentration. He didn''t tell Cassie that he had arrived until the end of her shift when he asked Cora to

convey the message. Before Cassie ran out to Nick, Nick began to feel a little embarrassed for having

been waiting at the entrance in his car.

"What are you doing here?" Cassie finally appeared in front of Nick and she was breathless.

Nick poked his head through the car window. He kissed Cassie on her forehead as she bent close to

the window to greet him. With a smile, he said, "I missed you so much. Here is what I got for you. I''ve

been so worried about your hearth, so I hope that these special nutritive products can help you recover

    better!"

"I will take them. You shouldn''t work too hard, either, though. Today I worked the day shift, and I''ll try

not to work the night shift these days. Well then, we both should get home early!" Cassie took what

Nick had brought to her, and shot him a sweet smile.

"Ha, I must obey Doctor Cassie''s advice! I promise that I will go home as soon as all my work gets

done!" Nick waved goodbye to Cassie, before he started the engine and drove back to hispany

    building.

Cassie had been in aa for so many days, so as her boyfriend, Nick had conscientiously stayed by

her side and put all his attention into looking after her. Now he realized that he had umted a lot of

unfinished work and hadpletely fallen behind schedule, because of that. As a result, he had to take

any extra time he had to catch up on it.

The situation Nick was facing was just like what Cassie was confronted with after hera.

Besides, there was one more important thing Cassie had to do. She had to take special care of Charles

    on Sheryl''s behalf.

Earlier today, when Le and Melissa went back home, Cassie didn''t waste time and called Sheryl right

    away.

"Sher, Melissa has gone home, so now is a good time for you to pay a visit to Charles. Are you free?"

"Really? Okay, I will be right there!" Sheryl hung up and headed straight towards the hospital.

Recently, Sheryl had not been feeling like herself. She wasn''t able to concentrate or bury herself into

anything enjoyable. All of this was because she worried about Charles all the time.

Soon after, Sheryl went to Charles'' sickroom.

Charles had been transferred into this new sickroom a few days ago, but Sheryl hadn''t had a chance to

stay by his side, or to take care of him there.

Melissa had been like a ghost that haunted the area around her son. She kept a wary eye on Sheryl

and didn''t leave her any chances to get close to Charles'' room.

"Charles, when are you going to wake up?" There still seemed to be no signs of animation or

recognition on Charles'' face. Sheryl felt so distressed at the scene. Tears welled up in her eyes and

were almost ready to spill forth, but Sheryl tried her best to contain her emotions. It seemed that Sheryl

had be more durable after such a long time dealing with this kind of torture all the time. She didn''t

show her weakness as easily anymore.

In silence, Sheryl stared at Charles with affectionate eyes. Two hours passed before the door was

suddenly swung open. A woman who looked to be over fifty-year-old stormed in.

"What are you doing here? Let go of my son!" Melissa shouted at Sheryl as soon as she saw her,

without any hesitation. With an intense re, she threatened Sheryl to get her hands off her son.

In shock, Sheryl stoodpletely dumbfounded. She had never expected Melissa woulde back

again. As she turned back, Melissa''s sudden appearance, with such rage on her face really struck

Sheryl by surprise. Shivering, she still managed to stay calm. Then, she replied in a voice full of

reproach, asking, "Mom, can you lower your voice? Aren''t you worried that Charles may be disturbed

    by your yelling?"

"My son will only be disturbed by you being here! He is fine with having me and Le by his side. How

do you have the nerve to show up here? Didn''t I make it clear that you are not allowed to look after

him? Why did you stille? You just didn''t take me seriously, did you? You don''t really care about my

son at all, either!" Melissa taunted, as she always did when she and Sheryl ran into each other.

Sheryl had just had enough of Melissa''s unreasonable reproach. In her eyes, that old wretch''s anger

hade out of nowhere all along! To put up with it, she had learned to take much for granted.

Receiving no response from Sheryl, Melissa felt ignored and humiliated. mming her fist down hard

on the table, Melissa attempted to use some violence to draw Sheryl''s attention.

"Sheryl! Are you listening to me?"

"Mom, your voice is so loud. Do you really think there''s any way I wouldn''t be able to hear you?" Sheryl

reminded Melissa again, trying to get her to lower the volume of her voice.

"Don''t call me, Mom! I felt too much pressure to take that title. Now everyone out there knows how you

treat my son and the Lu family. You are such a shameless woman. You are a married woman, so how

dare you meet with another man behind Charles'' back? How dared you y with my son''s heart like

that? So many people on the inte are witnesses. Do you think you can ever wash out the stain of

your betrayal? I can assure you now that, once Charles wakes up, the first thing he is going to do is

divorce you!" Melissa threw those spiteful and false statements in Sheryl''s face one by one, without

    mercy.

Too tired of Melissa''s twisted logic, Sheryl didn''t argue. With a helpless head shake, she answered

briefly, by saying, "Let''s just wait and see then!"

She had gotten so used to Melissa''s cunning eloquence, so she had prepared herself in advance with

many different ways to retort to Melissa when they met.

Sheryl had hoped all along to see Charles wake up from the oblivion of hisa. She swore to herself

that once he did, she would tell everyone the truth, the whole truth, and nothing false. She just wanted

the chance to set things right with her husband. She was convinced that Charles would believe her

    without question.

"Sheryl, you are such a …" Melissa couldn''t bear the way Sheryl spoke to her. Sheryl''s face revealed

    no trace of fear anymore.

As she continued to ponder over Sheryl''s reaction, her furious mood turned into a curious one instead.

''How can Sheryl be so calm? Isn''t she afraid at all?'' Melissa couldn''t help but ask herself as she looked

    at Sheryl''s impassive face.

"You must leave now! I don''t want you here, and I don''t want you toe here again!" Melissa shouted

again. She pointed her finger to the doorway, gesturing for Sheryl to leave right away.

Not wanting to argue with Melissa in the hospital, Sheryl surrendered atst. Turning, she was about to

    head out the door.

Right in that moment, at the doorway, she turned back and shot ast nce at Charles, praying that

    he would soon wake up.

"What are you looking at? Get out of here, right now!" Melissa tensed as she saw that Sheryl had

suddenly turned. Running out of patience, she didn''t want to waste any more time. Melissa quickened

her pace as she approached Sheryl. Without thinking she gave Sheryl a hard push, and then closed

the door, blocking Sheryl from seeing Charles any further.

Taken by surprise, Sheryl stumbled a few steps back and was almost fell. With much effort, she tried to

    steady her feet.

"Sher, are you okay?" Cassie happened to pass by from the next-door ward. Seeing Sheryl was being

pushed outside, Cassie grew concerned. She immediately charged in to steady her and keep her from

    falling to the ground.

So as to prevent Cassie from worrying, Sheryl forced a smile and then replied, "I''m fine. My mother-in-

"Okay, then...Sher, you should go and get some rest. I''m here to keep an eye on Charles. If there are

any new developments with him, you will be the first one to be informed." Cassie could read that

Sheryl''s heart must have been torn at the shameful act of her mother-inw, even though there were

no outward traces of distress to be detected on her face.

"Okay, I am going now! Remember to call me if there is any news!" Sheryl left the hospital, utterly

    exhausted.This content ? N?v/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
