Chapter 1626 Something That Was Worth Celebrating
Le and Melissa were feeling wickedly gleeful back in the hospital.
Le couldn''t help but grin from ear to ear as she looked at thements online. "Aunt Melissa, did
you see these? There is more news about Sheryl on the Inte. It seems that not only the paparazzi
are reporting this, some passersby who were at the scene yesterday also posted some videos online."
Le had been worried that the news wasn''t scandalous enough to destroy Sheryl. It seemed that her
worry was unnecessary. Things had gotten out of her control. ''I never knew how powerful the Inte
is!'' Le thought to herself.
Upon hearing what Le said, Melissa walked over to her. She bent down and looked at Le''s cell
phone.
Le scrolled down on the screen and looked at thements. "Sheryl is a slut. I mean, what kind of
woman would cheat on Charles? Charles is so brilliant and attractive. There are numerous women out
there who want to be with Charles. Despite that, Sheryl doesn''t treasure Charles at all and cheats on
him!"
"I guess the only reason that Sheryl married Charles is that she is in love with his money. Now that
Charles is in aa, she can finally do whatever she wants."
Thesements made Melissa burst intoughter. She was more excited than Le.
"Well, Sheryl can run, but she can''t ever hide again. After all the things she has done, it was just a
matter of time before people find out about this. She really deserves all the hatred," Melissa said coldly
as she pointed her finger at Sheryl''s image on the video.
People would think that Sheryl was Melissa''s enemy rather than her daughter-inw if they saw the
disdain and hatred on Melissa''s face. It was obvious that she hated Sheryl, even if one didn''t know
about the rtionship between Melissa and Sheryl.
Le nodded her head at Melissa. She was d that her efforts weren''t all in vain.
While Melissa and Le were excited about the news, someone was upset about it. Nick saw the video
too. His brows furrowed as he expressed his concern to Cassie. He liked to talk to her even though she
was still in aa. "Cassie, do you know about this? Someone is trying to defame Sher again.
Honestly, I don''t know what they are thinking. What happens in the Lu family has nothing to do with
them. Why are they so interested in it, and why would they even film and post such a video online?!"
Nick pounded his fist on the table, but he dared not do it too harshly. He was afraid that he would wake
Cassie up.
Nick realized what he was doing after he carefully removed his hand, and regretted his actions. He
smiled bitterly and continued, "Cassie, I can''t wake you up, can I? You can''t even hear me..."
Nick wished that Cassie could be woken up by something as simple as pounding on the table. The
reality was too cruel. Nick was so considerate and thoughtful that he dared not make a noise even
though he knew that Cassie couldn''t really hear anything.
All Nick wanted was for Sheryl to get through this drama and not be affected by the rumors around her.
After giving it some thought, Nick decided to call Sheryl.
When Nick called, I had taken Sheryl to the restaurant, and Sheryl happened to go to the bathroom.
I saw someone was calling Sheryl and she looked at the bathroom. Sheryl wasn''t out yet, so she
looked at the screen. When I saw it was Nick calling, she answered the phone without hesitation.
"Sher, are you okay?"
"She''s fine. Don''t worry." I could hear the worry and anxiety from Nick on the other end of the line.
She understood immediately why Nick was calling.
"I?" Nick was confused when he heard I''s voice on the other end.
I exined to Nick, "I''ve gone to a restaurant with Sheryl, and she''s in the bathroom right now. You
can rest assured that as long as I am with Sheryl, nothing will happen to her. You just take care of
Cassie, okay?" I said to Nick.
"Uh-huh, I, I believe you. Call me if you need anything!" Nick felt relieved when he knew that I
and Sheryl were together.
The moment I hung up, Sheryl came out from the bathroom.
"Nick just called you." I told Sheryl as she put the phone back down.
"Is he worried about me? Or did Cassie wake up?" Sheryl rubbed her hands together as she sat across
from I. She had asked I while pretending that she wasn''t affected by the rumors at all.
I rubbed her head and smiled. "Cassie is still in aa. He called to ask how you were doing."
Sheryl saw the uneasy and embarrassed look on I''s face. She shook her head and chuckled,
saying, "Why are you so nervous? Are you worried that I''m upset?"
"I know you aren''t too bothered because the Sheryl I know, is a strong and optimisticdy!" I not only
said these words for Sheryl''s benefit but also to remind herself not to be so worried. Sheryl had so
much on her te, so I didn''t want Sheryl to have tofort her and ease her worry. Sheryl was the
one who needed the support, not I.
The situation was a lot like Murphy''sw. I felt like anything that could go wrong would go wrong.
"Good, stop worrying about me so much. Let''s just order some food. I''m starving!" Sheryl just smiled at
I. Her expression looked calm and unbothered despite the situation.
Sheryl and I''s eyes met, but I didn''t say another word. She snapped her fingers to call the waiter
over.
Soon, their food was served. Sheryl seemed to enjoy her meal, but I knew that Sheryl must still be
having a hard time.
Although Sheryl had told I that she was fine, I knew that she was lying. It wasn''t easy to cope with
that kind of public attention; not to mention the snarky and meanments online.
"Sher, don''t pay attention to what people say online. They do not know you or what exactly happened.
They are just gossiping. Nowadays, people like to hit you when you''re down!" Iforted Sheryl as
she was eating.
"I, you and I have been friends for so many years. Don''t you know how strong I am? I really don''t
care about it. I am just upset because I am worried about Charles. I don''t know when he will wake up,
and that puts me in an awkward situation. I mean, something like this happened now, while he is in a
all I care about. As for any other things, I don''t give a damn about what people think," Sheryl told I
without hesitation. She knew that I would keep worrying about her if she didn''t express her true
feelings and convince I that she was telling the truth.
"Oh, okay. I understand now. Calm down, Sheryl. Let''s enjoy our meal!" I realized that she was
talking too much and that she had started to annoy Sheryl. ''What''s wrong with me? Why am I being
such a snoop today?'' I thought to herself.
I regretted that she had said too much just then. She worried that she had irritated and upset Sheryl.
After they finished their meal, I drove Sheryl to thepany building but didn''t walk her to the office
because Aron had asked I for help. I sat in the car and watched Sheryl walk into thepany
building before she drove away.
Sheryl did nothing during the whole afternoon. Her mind was befuddled, and there was a lot to
consider. She needed to straighten things out. She didn''t realize it was time to go home until Phoebe
came to her office at the end of the day.
"President Xia, if there isn''t anything else to be done, I''ll be going now. I''ll see you tomorrow!" Phoebe

smiled at Sheryl.
Sheryl couldn''t remember thest time she had seen Phoebe smile like this. Sheryl felt confused and
curious, so she asked Phoebe, "What happened, Phoebe? You seem very happy!"
"President Xia, I''m meeting my boyfriend''s parents today!" Phoebe exined to Sheryl shyly, biting her
lip.
Sheryl congratted Phoebe and felt happy for her.
Everyone was depressed because of Sheryl and what had happened recently. Sheryl knew that she
shouldn''t take her angst out on her colleagues, but she couldn''t control herself. She was really happy
for Phoebe despite all that had happened. Finally, there was one thing that could cheer Sheryl up and
was worth celebrating.
Sheryl waved her hand and gestured for Phoebe toe to her desk. She opened one of her drawers
as she said to Phoebe, "Phoebe, you know a lot is going on in the Lu family recently. I haven''t prepared
a gift for you, but I have this for you. I hope you have a wonderful night!"
Sheryl took out an expensive ne.
When she saw the ne, Phoebe shook her head immediately. She declined Sheryl''s offer, saying,
"No, President Xia, this is too expensive. I can''t ept it."
"You''ve helped me a lot in the past few years, so you''ve earned this. Please, take it, Phoebe. You''re
going to bete, so you''d better hurry. I hope that it can help you leave a good impression on your
future inws." Sheryl urged Phoebe to ept the gift and leave.
Phoebe was moved. She nodded at Sheryl and rushed out of the Cloud Advertising Company building.
Sheryl also went home after everyone in the office was gone. She didn''t go to the hospital, because
she knew that it would be better for her to stay at home after what had happened at the hospital before.
Sheryl hadn''t driven her car to thepany today, so she decided to walk home.
She lowered her head as she walked and identally bumped into someone.
"Sorry, I wasn''t paying attention." Sheryl felt pain from the impact on her head, but she apologized
immediately because she knew she was at fault.
She then lifted her head and saw who it was that she had bumped into.
