Chapter 1608 You Have To Stay In The Hospital
When it came to acting, Le was an expert. Her intention was to make Melissa feel sorry for her. She
couldn''t wait to see Melissa drenched in guilt.
When she saw the sadness and tears on Le''s face, Melissa''s heart began to break into a million
pieces. She felt extremely sorry for Le.
"Le, please, rest assured. Once Charles wakes up, I will tell him everything, without missing any
details. I assure you that Charles will take your side once he gets to know what Sheryl has done to you.
He will never forgive her! Moreover, he will teach her a lesson which she will never forget!" Melissa
firmly promised Le.
By now, Le was used to Melissa''s lip service. Hence, she didn''t seem even a tiny bitforted by
her words.
What was worse, Charles was now staying in the hospital. Le wondered if she could get back to the
Shining Company again.
And she knew with certainty that if she didn''t seed at bing Charles'' wife, all of her efforts would
be in vain. But her only ray of hope was that, as Melissa was on her side, Le could still stay in the
Dream Garden. Melissa was the only person who could help her now. Thinking about this, Le pulled
herself together, although she wasn''t quite satisfied with Melissa''s words. She said gently, "Aunt
Melissa, I trust you. I''s p is not a big deal at all. I am willing to take more ps from her if it
means that Sheryl will leave Charles forever. Even if I get disfigured because of that, I will still consider
it worth it!" Le looked into Melissa''s eyes and spoke with feigned sincerity.
"Bite your tongue, Le. Don''t you ever utter such words! You won''t be disfigured! I won''t let anything
happen to you. Don''t worry, I will always be on your side. And in my presence, nothing of that sort will
happen to you!"
Melissa then continued to promise how she would help her through thick and thin. Listening to her
bber, Le became fed up. ''Do you hear yourself, Melissa? You''re making me sick!'' Le thought
with a sneer.
If Le hadn''t needed Melissa to help her consolidate her position in the Lu family, she wouldn''t have
tolerated Melissa. She was already sick of all these empty promises.
"Uh-huh, I know. Thank you, Aunt Melissa. I appreciate it."
Le wiped away the tears from her face and walked to the ICU with Melissa.
The nurse had just changed a wound dressing for Charles. Melissa asked the nurse about Charles''
condition.
But Melissa''s question was too technical and tricky for the nurse to answer. The nurse decided to ask
for the doctor''s help.
"You''re a nurse. Aren''t you supposed to know this? If you are not clear about it, how can you change
the wound dressing? Since you''re so unqualified, I wonder whether you haven''t made a mistake just
now?" Melissa roared angrily at the nurse.
The nurse looked both annoyed and hurt after hearing Melissa''s remark. She shook off Melissa''s hand.
"If you don''t trust me, then you are free to do so. But the question you just asked was too tricky for me.
I won''t pretend to be a know-it-all to give you the wrong answer. I think asking the doctor for help, is
what responsible medical staff would do,"
the nurse replied in aposed and professional manner. Melissa was breathing heavily after her
outburst. Hence, she decided to remain silent as she watched the nurse leave.
Seeing the frustration on Melissa''s face, Le patted Melissa''s back andforted her by saying,
"Aunt Melissa, don''t get mad. She is just a nurse. I think we should go find the doctor."

Le was too tired for yet more drama, so she tried to calm Melissa down.
Melissa listened to Le and decided not to hold a grudge against the nurse. She walked to the
doctor''s office with Le.
They knocked on the door and the doctor called them in. Once they were inside, Melissa dumped
numerous questions on the doctor. And when the doctor finally told her that Charles might never wake
up, Melissa fell on the floor.
Le was dumbfounded. She nkly stared at Melissa and then fixed her gaze on the doctor.
"What do you mean, doctor? Charles might never wake up?" Le had never thought that such a
situation could arise.
The doctor nodded to Le before he said, "If the hematoma in his brain dissolves, he has a chance to
wake up. But we are not sure when that will happen. It depends on the patient himself. But please don''t
worry. As long as he is discharged from the ICU, he will recover. As for when he will wake up, we need
to give him a further check-up to confirm that. Once we get any further updates, we will inform you."
The doctor spoke in a clinical tone. He didn''t promise anything to Melissa and Le. Instead, he spoke
in a professional manner. He, as a doctor, wasn''t sure when Charles would wake up, nor did he believe
in giving false promises.
Le was able to read between the lines. But she had been convinced that Charles would wake up
someday. He was so tough and strong, hence she couldn''t imagine him lying still for a long time.
Le made herself firmly believe it would happen. ''Charles has to wake up and nothing will stop him, ''
she told herself again and again. If he didn''t wake up, then her dreams would nevere true. What
the doctor just said made Le feel like she got struck by lightning. Still, she wouldn''t lose hope. She
kept telling herself everything was going to be okay and tried her best to remain calm. Then she
squatted down and helped Melissa stand up.
Melissa, who had freaked out, seemed lost in thought. She nkly stared at the floor.
''How can this happen? The operation went smoothly, didn''t it? Why is my son still in danger then?''
Melissa shook her head in denial, and tears dripped down from her cheeks.
"Aunt Melissa, don''t worry. I am sure Charles will be fine. He is in aa for the time being. He will
wake up soon!" Le assured Melissa.
"Really?" Melissa asked Le with lines of suspicion and worry showing on her face.
Le nodded her head firmly in response.
This was what Melissa needed to hear. She needed someone to tell her that Charles would be safe
and sound. She needed her faith restored. And hearing Le''s words, she was convinced that Charles
would wake up.
Since Charles now had to stay in the hospital for a long time, Melissa and Le decided to go back to
the Dream Garden to pack their stuff. This way, they could stay at the hospital and take care of
Charles.
On the other hand, Sheryl had only woken up. She looked at the clock and realized that her kids''
sses would soon be over. With a struggle, she tried to get out of the bed but I stopped her.
"You donated so much blood for Charles. Are you out of your mind?" I had not known about this until
the nurse came to hook Sheryl up to an IV drip while she was asleep.
Sheryl rubbed her head and chuckled, "It''s not a big deal, I. It isn''t like donating bone marrow. Don''t
be so dramatic." Sheryl understood that I worried a great deal about her, but she truly didn''t think it
was a big deal.
"Yes, it wouldn''t have been a big deal if you were in good shape. A small amount of blood shouldn''t
have mattered. But look at you! Are you strong enough? I don''t think so! You almost passed out, for
God''s sake!" I was so worried about Sheryl that she couldn''t help butsh out.
Sheryl was a little embarrassed.
I was waiting for Sheryl''s answer, but Sheryl just remained silent. Gloomily, she sat on her bed and
lowered her head in frustration.
"What is this? A silent protest?" I asked angrily. She was speechless at Sheryl''s reaction.
Sheryl shook her head immediately and said, "No, don''t misunderstand. You are right! I know nothing
about taking care of myself. I promise I will never do such a thing again!"
She looked at I sincerely.
I rolled her eyes at Sheryl and said, "Stop with your drama. Do you actually think that I will buy that?
How many times have you done this? I lost count of it! The fact remains that you can never take me
seriously."
Sheryl didn''t know how to respond to this.
"But today, I am going to ask you to do something. And there is no way that you are disobeying me this
time," I said with the utmost seriousness.
"Please, let me know your request!" Sheryl squinted and waited for I to continue.
Seeing Sheryl''s eagerness, I was a little amused. She sat up straight and coughed before she said,
"You have to stay in the hospital tonight!"
