Chapter 1598 Enough
Sheryl, however, seemedpletely unperturbed by the news. She shrugged her shoulders and said,
"I have no idea. But I''d guess that either Le or Ferry is behind all of this!"
Le and Ferry were the first people that Sheryl could think of because they were the ones pushing for
Sheryl and Charles'' divorce.
The thought filled Sheryl with an almost unbearable sorrow.
Judging by her silence, I concluded that Sheryl wasn''t in high spirits. She wanted tofort her but
she couldn''t think of what to do or say. The only thing I could do now was sit next to her quietly and
keep herpany.
After a while, Sheryl said, "All right, time to get back to work, I. I''m okay."
Sheryl urged I to leave her office. Although I was reluctant, she decided to leave Sheryl alone
since there wasn''t much else she could do to improve the situation.
Meanwhile, at the Shining Company
Charles was going through a stack of files in the CEO''s office. Suddenly, his assistant knocked on his
door and walked in right after.
Charles didn''t hide his displeasure at being interrupted. He stared balefully at the assistant, wondering
what had happened. However, even though the assistant opened his mouth a few times, nothing came
out of it. It was clear from his hesitation that he was struggling to find the words to express himself.
Having lost his patience, Charles raised his voice and asked, "What''s the matter?"
Charles'' cold voice sent shivers down the assistant''s spine. He quickly scampered towards Charles''
desk and handed him his iPad, and his hand shook with every breath that he took.
"Mr. Lu, here is thetest news on Mrs. Lu. Please, take a look…" The assistant didn''t dare to mention
anything else. He had already read the news and he could imagine how furious Charles would be when
he saw those pictures.
Charles furrowed his eyebrows and red sharply at the assistant before he took the iPad from him.
The first thing he saw was the title of the video clip.
''Sheryl seeing her new lover at night?'' The mere thought of a "new lover" drove Charles up the wall.
''No wonder you''re that desperate to get a divorce, Sheryl. I know the reason now. You''re in love with
another man!'' Charles finally got his answer as to why Sheryl was being so insistent.
In a fit of rage, Charles threw the iPad away. The assistant quietly picked up his iPad and walked out of
the office. He was smart enough to leave before further raising the ire of his boss. All things
considered, thest thing that he would want was Charles venting his anger out on him.
Charles was the only person in the office now.
The only thoughts swimming in Charles'' mind at the moment were of Sheryl and her new lover, Lewis.
He had seen them together before when he was in the shopping mall. Although Charles couldn''t clearly
see who the man was back then, he was now convinced that the man had been Lewis.
''Sheryl, is this why you want to divorce me?''
Charles pondered to himself. He was utterly heartbroken. He had never expected that Sheryl would do
such a cruel thing to him. All that for another man!
Charles took out his phone and called Sheryl, while the toxicity of his anger and sadness grew to
fearsome heights. He wanted an exnation and he wanted to hear it from Sheryl in person. Deep
down, he still hoped that the news wasn''t true and that it was just some fake news to catch the public''s
attention so that the newspaper could sell more and make money.
Sheryl was lost in thought, thinking about the pictures and the rumors that came with them. The sudden
vibration of her phone caught her attention. She stared at the screen and let the phone continue
ringing. She was hesitant to answer this call.
Sheryl was certain that Charles had seen the video and that this was exactly why he was now calling
her.
Charles called Sheryl''s phone a few more times but got no response. After his patience had worn thin,
he decided to drive over to the Cloud Advertising Company and confront Sheryl face-to-face.
Soon, Charles'' car stopped right in front of the Cloud Advertising Company.
I saw Charles getting out of his car and striding towards Sheryl''s office. She knew that Sheryl had a
lot on her te right now and thest thing that she needed was a surprise visit from Charles, so she
stepped into his way.
Out of frustration, Charles was already about to snap. When he realized that it was I blocking his
way, he tried to ask calmly, "Is Sheryl in the office?"
"Yes, she is. What are you doing here?" I was never one to tell lies and she wasn''t about to start
now just because of Charles. It didn''t matter whether Sheryl was in the office, or not. I wasn''t going
to let Charles go inside anyway.
"What I am doing here is none of your business. I''m here to see Sheryl!" Charles didn''t want to waste
his time on I either, so he walked past her and headed towards the elevator.
However, I stopped him again.
"Enough! Why do you keep getting in my way?" I was very disappointed by Charles'' attitude. He
was the one who had made the unforgivable mistake. And yet here he was, acting aggrieved and
wanting to question and me Sheryl, as if Sheryl was the one who had engaged in an affair.
Although I knew that the rtionship between Sheryl and Lewis was still unclear, she also knew that
Sheryl was a woman of integrity. Sheryl would never cheat on Charles. Besides, Charles'' attitude had
strengthened I''s determination to stop him.
"I told you. I''m here to see Sheryl!"
"Sheryl is very busy and I represent Sheryl now. You can tell me whatever it is that you want to say to
her. I''ll be sure to give her the message," I said condescendingly, clearly showing no respect to
Charles, despite him being the CEO of the Shining Company.
"I, this is between me and Sheryl. Just because you are her best friend doesn''t mean that you have
the right to interfere in our personal matters. You are crossing the line!" Charles blurted out impulsively.
I was happy to see that Charles was furious. She looked at him contemptuously. If he had really
cared about Sheryl, he shouldn''t have slept with another woman in the first ce.
The more I thought about it, the angrier she became. She pointed her finger at Charles and mocked
him, "Since you''re iming that this is between you and Sheryl, then why do you let Le stay in the
Dream Garden? Do you really believe that Sheryl would betray you?" I med Charles.
Without any careful consideration, Charles suddenly blurted, "Isn''t it obvious?" I was taken aback by
Charles'' anger.
This was the first time that I had ever seen Charles so angry.
"Even if that''s the case, Sheryl''s personal life is no longer any of your concern. Why does it matter to
you who she spends her time with? Aren''t you with Le now?" I knew that Sheryl wasn''t dating
Lewis, but she didn''t want to tell Charles the truth. She wanted to make Charles realize just how hurtful
and painful it was to be betrayed by a loved one. Just as he had done to Sheryl.
I figured that it would be a good way to see whether Charles really cared about Sheryl, or not.
"Great, great!" I''s words had Charles convinced that Sheryl had indeed betrayed him. Why else
would Sheryl avoid him and send I to do her bidding? Sheryl''s guilt was made obvious by the fact
that she was hiding from him.
"That''s for sure. Lewis is twice the man you will ever be and he treats Sheryl with dignity and respect.
All that you ever did was to lie to, cheat on and hurt Sheryl. As her best friend, I would love to see
Sheryl choose Lewis over you!" I, gave Charles no quarter, ferociously bombarding him with harsh
words.
"Shut up!"
Sheryl''s reluctance to face him had convinced Charles of Sheryl and Lewis'' rtionship. Having lost all

faith in Sheryl, Charles suddenly turned around and walked away from I mid conversation. Feeling
dejected, he now believed that Sheryl was no longer in love with him.
I was happy to see that Charles left Cloud Advertising Company in frustration, and she was
ddened by the thought of exacting revenge on him for Sheryl.
Meanwhile, stepping from her office, Sheryl had calmly watched the whole incident unfold. The moment
that Charles had walked into the building, Sheryl had seen him. She had hidden behind the curtains in
the corridor when I stopped him.
Suffice it to say that Sheryl had heard the whole conversation between I and Charles.
''Charles, it was just a few pictures. Did you really think that I had cheated on you based on such flimsy
evidence? And what about the fact that you and Le slept together? What am I supposed to think
about you two?''
Sheryl was disappointed to see Charles''ck of faith in her.
After Charles had left, I turned around to look for Sheryl, as she was dying to tell her what had
happened just now.
She was taken by surprise to see Sheryl standing right behind her. I had gotten so caught up in her
argument with Charles that she hadn''t even noticed that Sheryl hade out of her office. I now felt
ashamed for making Charles leave under false pretenses. She dared not look into Sheryl''s eyes, and
scratching her head in embarrassment she slowly walked forward.
