Chapter 1573 Shame On You
Le turned her nose up at I and sneered, "It''s been a long time, Ms. Zhao. But you''re still the way I
remember you. I could smell the stink of your breath even before you opened your mouth. Actually, I
happen to know a fabulous oral doctor. I''ll leave you his numberter!"
Even Sheryl was surprised to see such self-glorifying behavior from Le. She had thought Le would
face them with her tail tucked between her legs. Le was the one who got in between her and
Charles, after all.
"Shame on you, Le Zhang! If I were you, I''d rather die!" I spat.
"I won''t protest if you die right here, right now!" There was a moment of silence as nobody else knew
what to say. "Right. I believe you won''t because you''re not me!" Le continued, every word effectively
getting to I, throwing her off. I wondered how Le had such a sharp tongue in just a few days.
Sheryl didn''t go through the trouble of saying anything. She was reluctant to confront a shameless
woman like Le, because she understood that by doing that, she would gain nothing. She would only
waste her time. Besides, it would even make Le happier if she thought Sheryl took her seriously.
"Loudness is not necessarily persuasion, Miss Zhang. I won''t bother arguing with the likes of you.
Whether you admit or not, Sheryl is still Charles''wful wife, and you''re nothing but a whore who tried
to steal another woman''s husband by crawling into his bed," I said each word slowly and sharply,
arousing the attention of passers-by.
People began gathering around the three of them.
"What I did has nothing to do with you! It''s not up to you to go around telling the world about other
people''s business!" Le felt a bit of panic when people started to look at her, but she kept her nose
high and looked down on I. But I was having none of it. She did not back down.
"Sometimes, I ask myself why the world''s moral standards continue to degenerate day after day, but I
begin to understand when I look at you. It''s all because of gold diggers like you. If you could move into
a family''s house and throw yourself at another woman''s husband, is there really anything else you can''t
do? Hmm...Since you''ve aplished that astonishing feat, I believe countless women all over the
world would be happy to pay you to teach them your ways!" I raised her voice as more and more
people stopped to look at the three of them. She couldn''t give Le a beating for her best friend, but
she thought she could at least try to make Sheryl feel better by publicly humiliating Le.
The bystanders began whispering among one another, with some even pointing at Le. "Ladies and
gentlemen, please look at this woman..." I prepared to fan the mes when she spotted the look of
uneasiness on Le''s face.
"I!" Sheryl interrupted and grabbed I by the hand.
She didn''t want to make a scene in front of so many strangers. Besides, she had to consider Charles''
feelings. They had two kids and had to see each other even if they separated.
I had to hold back her anger. Immediately understanding what Sheryl meant, she made a fist,
signaling her concession.
Le, seeing the interaction between the two friends, had no intention of stopping. She realized that
she could go on. Sheryl did not have the guts to stand up to her.
"Why don''t you let your friend share everything she knows? Sheryl, what''s done is done. You''d better
face reality and just do what you''re supposed to do. Sign the divorce papers." As she spoke, she
looked straight at Sheryl and stroked her hair.
Sheryl thenughed to herself. Her upbringing taught her to be easy on people, but this did not
necessarily mean that she should willingly ept any deliberate offense done unto her. Le might
have started things in the spur of the moment, but Sheryl wouldn''t give her the chance to also have the
She walked toward Le and stopped right in front of her.
She then looked into Le''s eyes without emotion. A secondter, she raised her hand and pped
Le in her face.
Le was taken aback. She stared at Sheryl in astonishment, one hand covering her face.
Before Le could respond, Sheryl leaned close and whispered, slowly enunciating each word, "In the
future, you''d better show some respect. If you can''t do that, do not show up in the same ce as me at

all. You know what? You won''t be Mrs. Lu as long as I refuse to sign the papers."
Le stepped back, pop-eyed, but Sheryl was not done.
"You heard me. Watch your tongue and behave yourself. I don''t want to argue with you because you''re
not the only one to me, but if you keep asking for trouble, I won''t hesitate to bring that to you. I won''t
leave you alone. I believe Charles will reconsider our divorce. When that happens, you may need to
find a ce to cry in!"
Sheryl got it right. Le was well aware that she had no advantage over Sheryl at the moment. Aside
from the fact that she was by herself, Sheryl had I''s support.
Le had to swallow the bitter fruit that she had sown. All she could do was stare at them with
resentment.
Sheryl then assumed a more rxed and friendly disposition. She turned to I. "We''d better go and
get some fruit as soon as possible, I. Nick is waiting for us!" She then took I by the arm, and they
walked away without looking back at Le.
Le made a fist. She wore a gloomy expression, but her heart was full of wrath. She swore she would
make Sheryl pay one day.
"Since you asked for it, I''ll give it to you. I''ll give you what you''re looking for. I invented this game," she
murmured to herself. Then, she turned to the people surrounding her and yelled at them, "What are
you looking at? Fuck off!"
Sessfully, she showed the people how a woman in the height of desperation and shamelessness
looked like.
The bystanders shook their heads and left. Those days, it had bemon for them to see such
fights caused by men who cheated on their wives.
"What did you whisper to that woman? Did you see her face? She almost fell to the ground!" I
inquired curiously, amused by the confrontation she had just witnessed.
Sheryl shook her head with a mysterious smile and replied, "I believe the bystanders thought you were
the woman whose husband cheated! Look at you!"
"That was all for you, Sher! You owe me a big favor!" Iined, pinching Sheryl''s arm.
"Fine, fine! Thank you! Come closer and I''ll tell you everything!" Sheryl pretended to beg for mercy and
winked at her friend.
"That''s more like it!" I then pricked up her ears with respectful attention.
However, Sheryl jokingly jumped away from her and shouted mischievously, "I''ll tell you if you catch
me!" She then picked up her pace.
"You''re so dead!" I eximed and chased after her, realizing afterward that Sheryl was making fun
of her.
They pushed and shoved each other for fun, but Sheryl refused to tell I how she managed to piss
Le off. When they got back to the hospital with fruit, Cassie had woken up. She greeted them with a
sweet smile.
"Oh, you''re finally up, Cassie! How are you feeling now? Does anything hurt?" Sheryl asked in a
concerned voice as she walked toward Cassie''s bed.
Cassie tried to sit up, but she felt her body ache with each movement, so she gave up and simplyy
on the bed. She was ck and blue all over because of her stay in prison.
"I''m fine, Sher. Please put your heart at rest. My throat feels dry, though. I would like some water,
please," Cassie said softly.
Sheryl put the bags they were carrying on the table and grabbed a cup to pour some water in.
Because Nick was still sleeping, the three women talked softly and quietly. Sheryl and I felt a little
relieved when they heard Cassie''s reassurance. Sheryl held her hands and patted them tenderly.
"Would you like some porridge, Cassie?" I asked and took the vacuum barrel in her hands.
"Okay. Porridge sounds fine," Cassie replied. Although she didn''t feel like eating, she knew it would
help her get better. Besides, she couldn''t turn down their kindness.
Sheryl and I talked with Cassie for a while after she had had some porridge. Then, she went back to
sleep. It was then that they left the ward.
They dropped by the nurses'' station before leaving the hospital.
"Cora, kindly keep an eye on Cassie. Please call me if she needs anything," Sheryl asked. She was
afraid that Ferry would break his word ande back for Nick and Cassie.
"Please don''t worry, Ms. Xia. I''ll check up on her from time to time. It''s gettingte. I believe the kids are
waiting for you." Cora then watched Sheryl and I as they disappeared from her sight. She went
straight to Cassie''s ward and took a look at her before she went on with her work.
Le returned to Dream Garden, exhausted and frustrated.
"What happened, Le? Are you upset? What''s this all about?" Melissa asked. She noticed that
something was off with Le the moment Le got back. Earlier, Le had joyfully and swiftly left for the
supermarket but now, she returned with red eyes and a swollen cheek.
Le shook her head. As tears formed in her eyes, she replied, "It''s nothing, Aunt Melissa. Please don''t
be upset." Her delicate and touching expression aroused Melissa''s protectiveness.
"Le, you know you can talk to me, right? Tell me what''s going on!" Melissa urged as she stared at
Le and waited for a response. It seemed she wouldn''t let Le go unless the woman finally told her
what she had experienced that afternoon.
