"Mrs. Lu, don''t worry. Miss Zhang is all right. She simply has hypoglycemia, so she is a little frail. Be

mindful not to stimte her after she wakes up. A good mood will be helpful for her," the doctor
advised.
Melissa continued asking nervously, "How can it be? She is always as fit as a fiddle. Howe she
has hypoglycemia now?"
"Well..." Hesitant, the doctor added, "It''s probably because of her irregr lifestyle. If she doesn''t eat or
sleep regrly, she will have hypoglycemia. Moreover, excessive fatigue could also lead to poor
health."
After their conversation, the doctor left with the nurses, while Le went inside the patient''s room.
Melissa felt so sad for Le that her body suddenly went limp. Luckily Charles caught her before she
fell on the floor.
"It''s all my fault! I know Le is a poor girl who has no family, but I still drove her away. If it weren''t for
me, she wouldn''t have suffered so much. She doesn''t deserve this!" Melissa sobbed, tears
continuously streaming down her cheeks.
Melissa had been with Le all the time and hadn''t eaten anything, so she was pretty weak now.
Seeing that Melissa might pass out any time, Charles held her to sit in the patient''s room, and urged
her to do some checkups. To his relief, she was all right except for some excessive shock. The doctor
assured him that Melissa would recover after some good rest.
"I need to stay with Le. The doctor said I''m all right anyway," Melissa pleaded with Charles, wearing
a hospital gown.
Charles had no choice but to walk Melissa to Le''s room. When they opened the door, they saw the
nurse changing fresh dressing for Le''s wound.
"She won''t wake up anytime soon. What''s more, the patient needs some rest. Please don''t stay here
too long as you will disturb her," the nurse said. Taking a nce at Melissa, who was also dressed in a
hospital gown, the nurse added, "You''re also a patient. Make sure that you rest well enough."
"Yes, we''ll keep that in mind. Thank you!" Charles said politely. After the nurse left, Charles and Melissa
sat on the side of Le''s bed.
Le''s face was as white as a sheet, which made Charles feel sick at heart. He wasn''t sad for her, of
course, but he felt a bit guilty.
"Look how thin Le is, poor girl! She wasn''t this slim two days ago when I met her," Melissa sadly
Charles heaved a deep sigh and thenforted Melissa, "Mom, don''t cry. You''re overreacting.
Anyway, Le is all right now, isn''t she?" Charles wanted his mother to understand that it was useless
to cry. Moreover, Le wasn''t in danger anymore.
"Of course I know she is all right. But I still can''t help it! I owe her!" Melissa exined.
Not knowing how to make his mother feel better, Charles gave up.
He waited in the room with Melissa for hours. And when she finally got tired, Charles walked her back
to her own room.
Charles stayed with Melissa until she fell asleep. It was already veryte at night. Thinking that Sheryl
might also be asleep then, he decided not to call her. He stayed at the hospital the entire night in case
Melissa needed him.
Early the next morning, Melissa woke him up.
He didn''t have a good night''s sleep, so he felt very tired and his eyes hurt.
"Mom, why did you get up so early?" he asked sleepily.
"I need to go to Le''s room now!" Melissa replied, walking out of her room. Charles had no choice but
to get up and follow her.
As soon as he stepped out, he met Cassie at the corridor. Charles suddenly remembered that Cassie
worked at this hospital.
"Mr. Lu?" Cassie eximed in amazement when she saw Charles. ''Is Sher in hospital again? What
could''ve happened to her?'' she wondered.
Seeing her surprised expression, Charles knew what she was thinking. Cassie mistook Sheryl to be the
patient. So he pointed at Melissa and said, "My mom is a patient here. Are you on duty today?"
"No, I asked for several days leave. Nick is in the hospital, so I want to take care of him." Cassie was a
little relieved after she learned that Sheryl was all right. She nodded to Melissa politely as a greeting.
"How is your mom now?" she then asked Charles.
"She''s all right. Thanks for asking," Charles replied.
"Hurry up. Why do you waste your time with a stranger?" Melissa pressed impatiently and went
forward. She knew about Sheryl''s rtionship with Nick. If Cassie was Nick''s friend, then she must also
be Sheryl''s friend. She hated Sheryl and all her friends.
Hearing Melissa''s impolite words, Cassie couldn''t help but think of the things that Nick told her about
Melissa. She didn''t know how bad she was until now. Sheryl''s mother-inw was indeed difficult to get
along with.
"Cassie, I have to go now. Keep in touch!" Charles bid farewell to her immediately. He wanted to ask
Cassie how Nick ended up in hospital, but he had to catch up with Melissa.
Cassie watched them enter a room. She asked her colleagues and was told that the patient in there
was Le.
Cassie felt weird about the incident. But it was already time for Nick''s medicine, so she had to let it go
for the moment.
As Charles and Melissa went inside Le''s room, they found her already awake.
"Aunt Melissa, are you all right?" Le greeted joyfully as soon as she saw Melissa.
Looking at her with loving eyes, Melissa strode to Le''s side. Melissa was relieved after she made
sure that Le was fine.
"Poor girl, I was so worried about you. Do you know that?" Melissa asked Le intimately. They
intentionally nned that act in front of Charles.
Before Charles could say anything, his cell phone buzzed. It was from hispany.
"Go ahead," Charles said curtly after he picked up. Melissa and Le both kept quiet while he was on
the phone.
"Okay, I got it. I''ll go back immediately."
After he hung up, Charles turned to Melissa and said, "Mom, I have something urgent to deal with. I
have to go now. I''ll ask someone to send food for you."
"Alright. You just go ahead. Your business is the priority," Melissa nodded. "As for Le, I''ll take care of
her." She mentioned Le on purpose to remind Charles to show his gratitude.
However, Charles was too upied to pay Le any attention. He just gave her a slight nod and left.
Noticing that Charles totally ignored her, Le felt the need to work harder to gain his attention. But
Charles didn''t care about her at all even though she was injured. What else could she do?
The room suddenly fell into silence after Charles left.
"Le, are you really all right?" Melissa was really worried about her this time. Le''s injury wasn''t part
of their n, which made her concerned.
"Aunt Melissa, don''t worry. It''s just minor injury," Le replied gently. She tried tofort Melissa to let
her feel better.
''What a considerate girl! Even though she was hurt, she pretends as if nothing had happened just to
Melissa shook her head and sighed as if she was still afraid. "If the kidnappers had stabbed a little bit
deeper, you would have died!"
"Aunt Melissa, it''s not that serious. It''s just an arm. I''m not dying anytime soon," Le smiled carelessly.
A grin crept across Melissa''s face as she saw Le''s radiant smile. Pretending to be angry, she
lectured, "Naughty girl! Don''t you ever do that again!"
