Chapter 1538 Visiting Nick
"Now, stop smiling like a little fool. Eat this," Cassie said as she gave Nick a slice of apple. As Nick
indulged into the fresh and crunchy fruit, they started having some casual conversation.
Ever since Nick was hospitalized, Cassie had been dedicatedly taking care of him. Nick was deeply

touched by her love and concern towards him.
The ongoing conversation between the two lovers was interrupted when all of a sudden, someone
knocked on the door and came in. "Cassie, umm..." It was a nurse who stood at a distance with a
distressed look seeking immediate attention from Cassie for some seemingly awkward situation.
Seeing the expression on her face, Cassie knew that something must have urred. She nodded to let
her continue.
"Jordan is here!" the nurse blurted and shared a nce at Nick.
"Ask him to go. He''s so annoying! Doesn''t he know that I don''t want to see him?" Cassie eximed
with her brows stitched. She pointed at the door and gestured for the nurse to pass her words to him.
"Damn it! He hasn''t done with the nonsense! Was my warning not enough for him?" Nick shouted
angrily, trying to sit up immediately to confront Jordan.
"Be careful with your wound, Nick!" Cassie put her hand on his shoulder to stop him. "You don''t need to
waste any time or energy with such a rascal!" Cassie patted on his shoulder trying to calm him down.
She was worried that Nick might get his wound torn open again if he went out.
However, Nick was far from being calm. The more Cassie tried to pacify him, the more agitated he
became. "We can''t always hide away from him. Let''s meet him right now. I want to see what he really
wants, okay?" Nick asked and looked at Cassie firmly.
Cassie marked the sternness in his face and realized that he wouldn''t let go of it so easily. Having no
other choices, she agreed. She helped Nick up and escorted him out.
When they reached the reception area, Jordan was right there pacing back and forth anxiously.
Hearing the approaching footsteps, he looked up and saw Cassie. A broad smile broke out on his face.
However, when he noticed Nick by Cassie''s side, the smile disappeared immediately. He strode
towards them quickly. But before he could touch them, Nick punched him in the face. Caught off-guard,
Jordan tumbled on the floor.
"You..."
"Jordan, I''ll let you go this time for the sake of Cassie. If you ever dare to harass her again, I''ll let you
regret for the rest of your life!" Nick warned him with gritted teeth. Nick red at Jordan angrily, which
was enough to make Jordan feel intimidated. He stood frozen and dared not to make a move.
Of course, Jordan wasn''t so stupid to provoke him at the moment. He knew that he should stop
pursuing Cassie now. He wiped clean the blood from the corner of his mouth and said to Cassie
showing concern, "I really hope that you are happy." He didn''t even look at Nick.
"Thank you!" Cassie replied curtly. To prevent Nick from doing anything reckless again, she grasped his
arm tightly. Even though she didn''t say anything to turn Jordan down, her alert gaze was enough for
Jordan to understand her stance.
Nick looked around. Some people had started to gather around them. Nick even overheard some
remarks from the crowd which made him conscious. The hospital was Cassie''s working ce, and he
knew that it would do Cassie no good if the conflict continued. So he wanted to end the chaos soon.
"We have received your blessing. You can leave now!" Cassie said in a cold tone, trying to drive Jordan
away.
Jordan breathed a heavy sigh of frustration. But before he stood up and left, he took a deep look at
Cassie.
After the two of them watched Jordan leave and disappear at the end of the corridor, Cassie walked
Nick to his room.
"Well, Cassie, I have something important to deal with now. If you need any help, just call me," the
nurse said as she stood in the doorway. She was pretty embarrassed to stay with them two.
"All right. Thanks for your help," Cassie replied politely. After the nurse left, Cassie breathed a sigh of
relief.
"Was I too loud just now?" Nick asked nervously. Yes, he abhorred Jordan from the core of his heart,
but it wasn''t right to stir up trouble in Cassie''s workce. He didn''t want to influence her job.
"If only you knew about it," Cassieined. She took a peek at Nick. When she saw his guilty
expression, she couldn''t help being amused andughed out.
"Look at your face, Nick! I know you just wanted to protect me. You gave him a lesson and drove him
away. Why would I even me you?" Cassie smiled. Once again, Nick was mesmerized to see her
gorgeous smile. She looked so innocent and charming when she smiled, which made him skip a beat
of his heart. He could not resist staring at her.
Cassie blushed as she caught him staring at her so lovingly. She looked down to avoid meeting his
eyes and said softly, "I''m getting some warm water for you." Then she dashed out of the room.
Outside the hospital
I carried arge basket of fruits. Both Sheryl and Nick were having a difficult time now. Since she
couldn''t offer any help to Sheryl, she decided to visit Nick.
When I was lost in thought, a maning out of the hospital ran into her. "Are you blind?" the man
cursed before she could say anything.
I was almost riled up. However, when she stabilized herself and looked at the man, she realized that
he seemed to be Jordan who had harassed Cassie. What was he doing here? Before she could ask
anything, the man left the ce in haste.
''It''s so strange!'' At the thought of it, I picked up the pace and went straight to Nick''s room. She came
across Cassie, who was holding a kettle at the moment she met her.
"Cassie!"
I called gently as she approached her. Cassie turned around and was pleasantly surprised to see
her. Cassie burst into a smile and asked, "I, what brings you here?"
Then Cassie came over and took I''s arm intimately.
"Why do you look so happy? Is it because of me or someone else at the hospital?" I teased as she
gave a slight nudge below Cassie''s rib-cage.
Knowing who I was implying, Cassie blushed. She covered her face shyly and said, "I, you are
making fun of me again!"
"All right, all right. I''ll stop this. You even blushed!" Noticing Cassie''s rxed mood, I was a little
relieved. She knew that Nick might be in good condition now. However, she was still perplexed by the
thought of Jordan. Before they came in Nick''s room, she tugged on Cassie''s arm and asked in a low
voice, "What''s the matter with Jordan? I hope you won''t betray my little brother Nick."
The smile on Cassie''s face disappeared at the very mention of Jordan. But she regained her
"I, you can rest assured. I have nothing to do with Jordan. Nick just drove him away from this ce.
I believe he wouldn''t dare toe back again," Cassie said firmly. Her serious expression convinced
I. She also knew that Nick wouldn''t feel insecure regarding Cassie''s rtionship with Jordan again.
"That''s good. Let go inside. I can''t wait to see my courageous brother now!" I smiled and pushed the
door open.
"Cassie baby, what took you so long?" Nick asked affectionately as soon as the door opened. He
assumed that it was Cassie who came in with the warm water.
However, it turned out to be I.
Cassie flushed as she heard Nick''s intimate words. But I was utterly amused.
"Nick, howe I didn''t know that you could be so gentle?" I mocked, ughing heartily covering her
mouth behind her hands.
Nick was so embarrassed that he wanted to bury himself in the nket. He scratched his ear and
asked shyly, "I, what brings you here?"
"So, do you think that I''m bothering you?" I made fun of them on purpose, which made Nick and
Cassie even more embarrassed.
Having had enough fun, I asked, "All right. I was just joking. How is your injury? I heard from Sher
that you have been a big hero this time. Tell me what you were thinking about! How dare you follow the
murderer?"
Even though I didn''t see by herself, she could imagine how dangerous the situation could have
been. She knew that Nick was trying to help Sheryl. But he should never put his own life at risk.
