Chapter 1503 On A Razor''s Edge
Sheryl reached the doorway to the roof. Phoebe dashed towards her and whispered, "Ms. Xia, Lancy
insisted on meeting you. Please be careful!"
"I got this," Sheryl said and nced towards Lancy who was standing at the edge of the roof.
There were several police officers around Lancy, but they kept a safe distance from her. Every time
someone drew closer, she would scream and threaten to jump. So, nobody dared to approach her.
"Miss Lan, please stay calm. Don''t be irrational. Nothing is more important than your own life. You are
in grave danger now. If you have any problems, please talk to us. Get off the edge. Stay with us!" one
of the policewomen said to Lancy, trying to persuade her out of suicide.
As a police officer, she had encountered simr situations many times. But Lancy was the craziest one
she had evere across.
Before the police had reached the location, they had a general idea about Lancy''s case. As far as they
knew, the injury on her face wasn''t severe at all. They didn''t understand why she would choose to give
up her own life for such a trivial issue.
Lancy was untouched by their pleas. She stared at the people around her with crazy eyes and a

"Bring Sheryl here. I must meet her now. Go and get her!" Lancy muttered slowly at first, and then
started yelling at the police.

Sheryl was well aware of the situation at that moment. She was confused as to why Lancy insisted on
meeting her at the cost of her life.
Was she some kind of sworn enemy to Lancy without even realizing it? Or did Lancy have a bigger

Anyhow, she decided not to be a coward and hide behind other people. Even if Lancy meant to put her
in trouble, she couldn''t find it in herself to see a life perish in front of her.
Sheryl tugged at Phoebe''s arm.
"Could you hold on to my phone? I''ll try to soothe Lancy. If anyone calls, please answer the phone for
me," Sheryl said calmly. She quickly gave the phone to Phoebe.
She figured that Charles might call her. If she answered the phone while talking to Lancy, it would only
stimte her even more. If she ignored it, Charles would worry unnecessarily.

Phoebe looked at her with concern and asked, "Ms. Xia, do you really have to do this? There are so
many police officers here. Why don''t we just leave it to them? Let the police try to save her."
"No. She asked to meet me, right? She won''t give up until I show up," Sheryl said. Then she took a
deep breath and proceeded towards Lancy.
At that same time, Charles, who was driving fast to the hospital, received a message.
He took a brief look at it, and then his creased eyebrows rxed a bit. It was an important message.
And it was just in time!
On the roof deck, a few seconds after Sheryl walked towards Lancy, her cell phone rang in Phoebe''s
hand.
She looked at the screen, and saw that it was from Charles.
Phoebe hesitated for a few seconds, but finally decided to answer it.
"Hello, Mr. Lu," she greeted.
"Where is Sheryl?" Charles asked anxiously.
Phoebe replied, "Ms. Xia has gone to negotiate with Lancy. She thought that she might receive calls, so
she asked me to hold on to the phone."
"Where is she now?" Charles'' voice grew more worried. ''How could she confront that mad woman
alone?''
"Ms. Xia is almost near— Oh my God!" Phoebe screamed as her eyes opened wide.
"What happened?" Charles asked nervously. Phoebe''s shrill was enough to make his heart skip a beat.
The scene that had unfolded on the roof left Phoebe trembling.
As soon as Sheryl got close to her, Lancy grabbed her arm and pulled her to the edge where she was
standing.
"M...Mr. Lu! Ms....Ms. Xia got dragged to the edge of the roof!" Phoebe said in a trembling voice.
"What?!" Charles yelled into the phone.
He couldn''t believe this was happening in his absence. Had he been there, he would have given that
crazy woman a punch to her guts.

Charles became restless. He wanted to reach his wife as soon as possible.
He looked around, but to his despair, he was stuck in traffic and the light was still red. But he didn''t
care. Stepping on the gas, he sped forward at full speed through the spaces between the cars.
Sheryl staggered due to Lancy''s sudden pull, but she finally managed to find her footing.
"What do you want?" Sheryl asked. Lancy had a tight grasp on her sleeve. Sheryl tried her best to
regain herposure.
She didn''t dare look down, and they were a dozen storey high. If anything unfortunate happened, she
wouldn''t be able to see her children again.
Sheryl told herself that she must stay calm. She had to find Lancy''s weakness and prevent her from
doing something crazy.
Lancy stared at Sheryl for a while. All of a sudden, she burst into wildughter and shouted, "You know

Her abrupt statement confused Sheryl.
"What do you mean?" she asked with a frown.
She was already aware of Lancy''s character. If she behaved kindly to Lancy, she would think her to be
weak and get even more aggressive. So, she decided to take a hard stance which might possibly hurt
her arrogance. She could annoy Lancy and pull more information out of her.

As Sheryl was thinking, Lancy pulled her sleeve again. She almost tumbled this time, and was very

"My God, Ms. Xia!" Phoebe screamed from the doorway.
Sheryl''s face went pale, and her feet shook in fear. After sometime, she managed to stabilize herself,
daring not to move even slightly.
Around them, the police were terribly nervous too. However, they realized that Lancy wasn''t letting go
of Sheryl no matter what happened.
"Lancy, we don''t know each other, and we don''t have anything against each other. I understand if you
want to end your own life, but why do you want to kill me too?" Sheryl asked coldly.
"Why? Ha! You are right! I don''t need to kill you, I don''t need to kill myself either! But you know what?
We all have just this one life. But if I want to save another life, I have to kill you first," Lancy snapped
viciously as she red at Sheryl with venomous eyes.
