Chapter 1459 Greed
When Sheryl raised her head, she saw a skinny man standing with his back to her.
''Is he also here for Cassie? Interesting. I didn''t realize that Cassie was such a popr girl, '' Sheryl
teased in her mind.
''Is he pursuing Cassie? If he is, I have to watch him closely, for Nick''s sake. I wouldn''t let this man steal
Cassie away from him, '' Sheryl thought to herself as she slowly tried to inch towards him. She was
trying to listen in on the conversation.
"Cassie''s not here. Is there any thing I can help you with?" Cassie''s colleague said.
"Oh, nothing important, really. I made her soup. Could you tell her to eat it while it''s still warm?" the
man said calmly.
''Soup?'' Sheryl thought, surprised. ''Wow! He made soup for her. What a nice guy! If such a nice man is
pursuing Cassie, I wouldn''t be surprised if she fell in love with him.''
Sheryl stood up from where she was sitting as she waited for the man toe out.
Cassie''s colleague seemed also surprised by what the man said so he remained silent.
A few momentster, the colleague said, "All right, you can put it here. This is Cassie''s desk."
"Alright. Thank you very much," the man responded.
"Wait. Who should I say it''s from? When Cassiees back, I can tell her who the soup''s from," he
said.
But the man didn''t respond again. He hesitated for a moment and said, "Thank you, but there''s no
need for that. If she wants to know, she''ll find a way."
Then the man turned around to leave.
Sheryl lowered her head and focused on her phone when she heard the sound of footstepsing
nearer.
But just as the man was about to pass by, she suddenly raised her head. "Sir, please, wait."
Jordan wasn''t nning on staying. He didn''t even want Cassie to know that the soup was from him. It
wasn''t the right time to tell her yet. But suddenly, a woman stopped him from leaving. He paused in his
tracks and looked towards where the sound hade from.
A beautiful woman stood in front of him smiling at him like she''d known him for years.
But Jordan was sure that he didn''t know her because he could never forget a woman so beautiful as
she was. He couldn''t say no to her—she was too beautiful. So he looked back at her calmly.
"Miss, do I know you from somewhere?" he asked politely.
"No, you don''t," Sheryl said, shaking her head, "But you know Cassie and I know Cassie."
This piqued his interest. ''Is she a friend of Cassie''s?'' he thought to himself, ''Then the more reason to
be polite to her.''
"I see. You''re also looking for Cassie?" he asked.
"Yes. I believe we haven''t been introduced. I''m Sheryl Xia. Nice to meet you. What''s your name?"
Sheryl said as she reached out her hand.
Jordan shook hands with Sheryl. He introduced himself and they started talking. Sheryl told Jordan that
Cassie was her younger sister.
"Oh, so you''re Cassie''s sister? So..." Jordan''s voice trailed off. He was confused because Cassie had
never mentioned that she had a sister.
"Are you asking if I''m really Cassie''s sister?" Sheryl asked as she smiled.
Jordan nodded.
"No, actually, Cassie''s boyfriend is my brother. So Cassie''s practically my sister too. Did you get that,
Jordan?" Sheryl asked, still with a smile on her face.
Jordan''s face shifted when he heard this, but he caught himself right away and calmed down. He
responded in a polite smile but a rather colder tone, "Oh, so you''re Nick''s sister."
"You know Nick? Nick is Cassie''s boyfriend. I matched them up. Well, not really. They knew each other
way before I entered the picture. But when I did, that''s when they got together. I matched them up,"
Sheryl said calmly as if she didn''t notice the shift on Jordan''s face.
"I see." Jordan''s voice was chilly.
"Nick is actually Cassie''s first boyfriend, and Cassie is also Nick''s first. I think they were made for each
other. Oh, since you''re a friend of Cassie''s, she might have already talked your ear off about Nick,"
Sheryl bbered on. She looked so happy about Cassie and Nick''s rtionship.
But Jordan was growing tired of the conversation so he said bluntly, "Ms. Xia, I have somewhere I need
to be. I need to go."
"All right. I hope to see you again, Jordan. Maybe we can have dinner sometime. I''ll ask Nick and
Cassie toe along with us," Sheryl said gleefully.
Jordan didn''t respond. He snorted and hurried off.
Sheryl burst intoughter as soon as Jordan was out of sight.
At Le''s home
When Le got home, she immediately got sucked into her thoughts. She thought about Melissa and
the question—what she cared about the most.
The question raced through her mind. Even as she cooked, she couldn''t take her mind off it that she
nearly dropped the spat. She ate like a zombie—she couldn''t even remember what her dinner
tasted like.
When she finished showering and was just about to hop onto bed, something came to her mind.
''If I''m not mistaken, all Melissa cares about is money. She loves money more than anyone in her life!''
Le thought to herself.
When Le was in prison with Melissa, Melissa talked about her experiences. She was in jail because
shemittedmercial fraud. She loved money so much that she was willing to risk herself for it.
Le was suddenly enlightened. She felt as if the fog in her mind had suddenly cleared. ''If Ie up
with a n with this in mind, I might just find a way out, '' Le thought to herself.
Le recalled when she and Melissa were shopping the other day, she bought Melissa some clothes.
Melissa was so happy. ''I can''t take my mind off that gleam in her eyes when I handed her the shopping
bags. It was a look of greed. Like she''d made profit or something. She loved free stuff, '' Le thought to
herself.
''After, she even told me how to get richer. She even said something about Charles''pany. All she
cares about is money and she doesn''t even try to hide it. I''ve thought about this for so long. HoweThis is property ? of N?velDrama.Org.
I''m only realizing this now? Maybe, I just figured that Melissa had a wealthy son so she wouldn''t worry
about money that much.
Man, I was so wrong. So wrong! All Melissa cares about is money!''
With that thought in mind, she was sure that Melissa had weakness. ''As long as she has desire, she
has weakness that I can take advantages from!'' Le thought.
