Chapter 1421 Cold Natured Constitution
"You are wee, Mrs. Lu. I was just acting on my duty. By the way, after you are discharged from the
hospital, please keep in mind that you still needs to rest, and try not to strain yourself unnecessarily.
You haven''t fully recovered yet, so staying in bed would be a preferable choice. Above all, you must
avoid mood swings. Otherwise your condition will get worse," the doctor advised.
Sheryl nodded before she replied, "Thanks, Doctor Liu. I''ll keep that in mind and follow your advice."
"All right. All the best to you and your family. Now if you''ll excuse me, I''ll meet the next patient," said
Doctor Liu.
"Right, of course. Thank you for everything!"
Doctor Liu bid them farewell and walked out of the room, followed by a group of nurses and doctors.
However, one of the nurses stayed back. She smiled at Sheryl, "Mrs. Lu, I work in Doctor Liu''s group.
You can call me Lillian."
"Hi, Lillian. Do you have something you would like to say to me?" Sheryl asked. She didn''t mean to
sound rude. It was just that she had never seen this nurse before, even though she had been in the
hospital for several days now.
"Mrs. Lu, do you have any confusion with what Doctor Liu has just told you?" Lillian asked abruptly.
Sheryl felt even confused by her question, because Doctor Liu had told her what to do just now. Why
was she asking again? What was she trying to tell her?
However, out of politeness, Sheryl simply nodded and replied, "Yes, I''m very clear with that."
"By the way, there is one more thing that you need to know. You have a stomach trouble. Try to avoid
eating anything cold as much as you can," Lillian smiled. "I know this from your medical records. I
noticed that Doctor Liu forgot to tell you about that part, so I thought that I should inform you."
Sheryl felt deeply touched by Lillian''s professionalism. Although she didn''t know Sheryl, she did her
best to help her patient recover better. Needless to say, Lillian made a good impression on her.
"Lillian, thanks for your advice. I really appreciate that," Sheryl smiled. As a matter of fact, Sheryl was
well aware of her stomach trouble, but sometimes she would end up forgetting about it.
"Onest thing, Mrs. Lu, you also have slight anemia. After you are discharged, you should eat more
red meat. That should help a lot!"
"Thanks, I''ll keep that in mind."
Lillian and Sheryl carried on like this for a little while, talking mostly about the do''s and don''ts, which
Sheryl had all noted down.
Sheryl couldn''t help thinking what a good person Lillian was for going the extra mile. She was both
beautiful and thoughtful. Most of all, she was very devoted to her job.
She reminded her of Cassie, who was also a nurse. They were so alike! Both of them were very kind
and responsible. Sheryl was the one who introduced Nick to Cassie, and they ended up making a good
couple. Unfortunately, she didn''t have anyone suitable for Lillian right now. Otherwise she would be
setting her up without hesitation.
After bidding farewell to Sheryl, Lillian left her room.
Since Sheryl had been resting for a while, she didn''t feel like sleeping anymore. She got out of bed just
as she decided to step out for some fresh air.
When she arrived at the garden, she heard muffled sounds of crying.
Judging by the timbre, she guessed it was a girl''s voice. What happened?
Sheryl paused and tried to focus her attention to where the crying wasing from, when suddenly
she heard a man''s voice.
She couldn''t hear them clearly, mostly due to the distance, but she assumed that it was just a harmless
spat between a couple. It would be incredibly impolite and inappropriate of her to try and interfere in
their affairs, but after having spent so long in the hospital being bored, she allowed her curiosity to
cloud her judgments. She looked for a suitable ce to hide and eavesdrop on the unsuspecting
couple.
The sound of their voices echoed.
"Honey, you should know that you are the only one I love. I promise, my love for you will never
change," the man said. It sounded like he was trying tofort the weeping girl.
"But...but I can''t do it! I''ve never done this before. I''m so scared!" the girl said disjointedly.
The girl''s voice seemed very familiar to Sheryl, but she couldn''t remember where she had heard it
before.
"Dear, don''t you love me anymore? Do you have any idea what I''m going through? If you don''t help me,
these people won''t spare me!"
"But—"
"Don''t find excuses anymore. Just tell me, who is more important to you, me or that woman?" The man
raised his voice, as if he was threatening her.
The girl fell silent in an instant.
Judging by what she had heard so far, Sheryl concluded that the man was questioning the girl''s love for
him. It was nothing special.
Sheryl lost interest almost immediately, so she stood up and was ready to leave. Suddenly, she saw
Cassieing over from another direction.
Sheryl smiled and tried to say hello to Cassie, when suddenly she stepped on twig on the ground,
which caused a cracking noise.
The noise startled the couple, and the man asked nervously, "Who''s there? Show yourself!"
Sheryl panicked, embarrassed at the thought of getting caught like that. After all, eavesdropping on
other people''s private conversations was frowned upon.
She decided to take her leave before anyone else had seen her and rushed out of there in no time.
Soon after, the man followed the sound and stood where Sheryl was standing, looking around hastily.
"There''s nobody here. Am I hearing things now?"
"What did you hear?" the girl asked, following him out. It was none other than Lillian.
"I thought I heard someone or something out here when we were talking. But I can''t find anyone now.
Maybe I heard it wrong," the man said, creasing his eyebrows.
Lillian, however, failed to care about anything else since she had problem on her own that required her
undying attention. She said perplexedly, "Felix, I''m still worried about the thing you said to me. Should
we think it over now? Maybe we can find a better solution."
"You don''t want to help me, do you?" Felix''s expression turned utterly sullen. "If you are unwilling to do
it, someone else will. But I''m so disappointed at you," he shouted.

"No, Felix!" Lillian grabbed his arm and pleaded, "Please don''t leave me. I...I''ll help you do it."
Felix turned around immediately, and a smile appeared in his face. "Good girl! I knew you wouldn''t put
me in danger. I love you so much, Lillian," he said.
Felix reached out to pull Lillian into his arms. Their heads leaned against each other in an intimate
gesture.
However, Lillian felt ufortable at the thought of what she was about to do.
''Dear God, Please forgive me! I don''t want to hurt anyone, but I have no choice. Please forgive me!''
she prayed.
Meanwhile, in the changing room, Cassie was preparing to leave. She had switched her shift with her
colleague so that she could leave earlier than usual. She wanted to buy some fresh food in the market
so she could cook up a nice meal for Nick.
Suddenly, just as she was about to close her cab, she heard a muffled voiceing from the
changing room next to hers.
Cassie felt alerted as she remembered that nobody was supposed to be there at that time. Could it be
a mouse running around in the room?
